Batman comes out in 2012, no? If it's 2011, then I'm waiting for it.

ME3 can suck my ass, ME2 was fucking horrible in my taste.

I try to do the same too, but that's just too many games to buy upon their release date (for me, that is).
Assuming that you're getting them all on the release dates.

I'll pirate most of the ones you've listed (FEAR 3 definitely and Crysis 2 to hell and back Laughing), but there are a couple of games that I'll (probably) buy at release, namely Deus Ex: Human Revolution, ME3 and ES5: Skyrim.

Yeah well..I stopped pirating games ages ago. If I can't afford the game I just wait for the price to drop. Using the excuse (i pirate cos I cannot afford) is just lame. If you can't afford just don't get it Smile I don't go out drinking when I can't afford so why should I do other things I cannot afford? Wink

Sad Crying or Very sad

Though I do try to buy the ones that I've liked enough, when the prices go down.
Just checked and found out that I've spent ~60€ on all of the steam holiday sales.

My excuse is that is I can think of a million other things to spend £30 or £40 of my money on like petrol, food, clothes, mortgage, cars and a multitude of other things. It depends on your situation I suppose, but I always pirate SP games and buy the occasional MP game. Have been pirating games since the days of the ZX Spectrum back in 1982 (using two cassette tape recorders and a jack lead) so I supposed it's ingrained, while old habits die hard, although I've managed to give up smoking in the last 6 months after 27 years.

I don't agree Tywyn. I've been into pirace since 1982 myself. And ive got a huge collection of pirate games. However, i've totally stopped piracy (games) since I want to support the pc gaming industry. Besides, if you cant afford just wait until it gets cheaper. Problem is that people just seem unable to wait. They have go get it day 1 (or earlier if possible).

It is very few games I get from day one, and even fewer if any i DL near day one. I just prefer waiting on games since you have to wait for a couple of months of patches for the gaming experience to be complete with a lot of games these day. And I have to agree with the buying of games, though some games I would argue it is alright to download first and try them out, and if you like it then you buy it.

But do we really support PC gaming if we buy cheaper games after several months? Does the publisher takes those numbers into account? It seems that the big players focus mainly on the first month sales.
I tend to buy games that I liked. But I got burned to many times buying before playing them, usually in terms of gameplay time related to price eg. 4h to finish game for 35$ (standard price for a pc game in Poland).

What about "I don't want to pay €50 for a piece of shit like Mafia 2"? I tend to use pirated copies as a sort of full demo, because demos are rare these days, and there are so many terrible games I really do not want to spend my money on. Especially because games are almost 2.5 times as expensive as they were 9 years + 11 days ago. Where I used to pay 50 guilders for a full game (which, for the record, had more game in it than a lot of games do nowadays), I now have to pay 50 or *more*. €1 = ƒ2.20371, so €50 * 2.20371 = ƒ110,19.

Fact is, games are twice as expensive as they used to be, and most of the time also twice as short and twice as crappy, so I'll be twice as careful before spending my money on one.

That said, I still do buy a good amount of games, but in the past 2 years that's probably been more "indie" (hate that term) titles than "AAA" (another crappy term Razz) titles. Hell, games like Guardian of Light, Meatboy or even Plants vs Zombies are worth a hell of a lot more to me than Mafia 2 or even ME2.

What I'm looking forward to the most:

AC Brotherhood for the PC - Didn't like the first one, recently gave the second one a try...it's not perfect, but pretty damn good at times and i heard brotherhood has more variation.
Deus EX: HR - Mainly because if this is good, then thief might be.
Duke Nukem Forever - It's duke, what more can you say.
Skyrim - Not a big fan of either Oblivion or Fallout 3, but i can't help but get hyped about new bethesda games like this (always has potential).
Mass Effect 3 - A little sci-fi nerd lives inside me. Excited about the whole attack on earth thing.
The Secret World - I think funcom can make some pretty good games and I'm a Lovecraft fan!
Max Payne 3 - I know it's another developer and what not, but i cant help being excited for this anyway. I love Max Payne.
Alice 2 - Loved the first game, hope they don't fuck it up.

I'm interested in other games too, but those are the main ones this year.

http://kotaku.com/5616870/ubisoft-beyond-good--evil-2-must-be-perfect

Quote:
Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot assured me today that work continues and has never stopped on the highly anticipated sequel to 2003's Beyond Good & Evil.

"We were, as we are, working on the game," Guillemot told me during a meeting at Germany's Gamescom this week. "What is very import with this next product is that it will be perfect."

Developer Michel Ancel's "intention is to come [out] with something really exciting. But everybody needs a little bit of patience."

What makes Beyond Good & Evil 2 so significant to both Ubisoft and an industry powered, and sometimes limited by, great investments and huge profits, is that it is a sequel to a game that was, at least financially, a flop.

Guillemot said that Ubisoft was both happy and not happy with the reception of the original action-adventure game which had players taking on the role of reporter Jade who was investigating an alien conspiracy on her native planet. While the game received relatively strong reviews, sales were lackluster.

"I would say the game was very well appreciated by the people who played it," Guillemot said. "But we didn't have enough people when it was launched. After its time it become a very recognized product."

Guillemot chalks the game's disappointing sales to the fact that the game pushed on the notions and concepts of what people at the time expected a game to be.

This time around, with Beyond Good & Evil 2, Guillemot expects that the buzz already building around the game will help get more people to pick up the title in that critical first month of release. But it's still a risk.

It's not like BG&E was ever truly complex in the first place, it was for the Gamecube and very much felt like a console game. Not to say it was bad, not by any means, the game was fantastic - but I hardly think it COULD have been streamlined any further than it was.
