When it gets out, please post updated files. Crack can wait, but it would be interesting to see XML data changes in the meantime.

You posted just as I edited the message about it, should be done in ten minutes or so, unsure how much have changed but I'll probably have to dig around a bit as since you do mention a lot of the game data is these xml script files and setups but it shouldn't take too long and only this update is necessary now with a scene release from the previous patch available in a few variants.

EDIT: Done.

I'd like to install the last update from Skidrow.
The only way to uninstall the game is to delete the folder, right ?
Thanks!

I think so, unsure about emulators and the like but I doubt that will work due to how Steam has improved it's security and protection method for games.

I mainly try to have the files and patched data available plus extra content if possible but lately this CEG based protection has made it rather useless aside from just getting the modified exe elsewhere once available or having the game data patched but using the old exe (For the few cases where that works somewhat OK.) but I don't have much knowledge or info about copy protection methods and implementations actually and this CEG tool Steam/Valve use is pretty problematic as it can lock the exe by altering it to in a way match your computer "identification" or how to describe it properly.

Still with the data available it might still be useful and other content like extras and DLC where possible, Steam loaders might not work well at all but certain emulators for the entire program are apparently functional with these updates from how I've understood it, not very up to date on how this works though as I said.

Still it's not all too horrible such as keeping game data server-side as with Ubisoft so the protection usually gets cracked quickly though updates have a rather low priority depending on the game popularity or some such though Skidrow have stepped up as have groups like Theta and probably others.
(Reloaded released a bunch of stuff lately citing it as "proper" so that sort of thing to successfully remove the protection instead of sidestepping it probably also takes some time to implement.)

I prefer modified/cracked executable files myself as it removes DRM restrictions and can sometimes help with compatibility or even stability and performance, later protection models of SecuROM, Tages and Star-Force to use the current popular ones are much improved however, LIVE and Steam can have some troubles still.
(LIVE can be a bit over zealous with certain programs much like say Punkbuster though SecuROM is pretty close as well, Valve's UI and overlay stuff can also be problematic but can be disabled most of the time.)

JBeckman, since you have legal Civ5, can you tell me is maritime bonus properly displayed in city state pop-up in 1.0.1.141, when hovering over allied status.

I mean, does it say something like "4 food per capital, 1 per other cities", instead of 400 food per capital, 100 per other cities". Of course actual bonus to cities correct, as well as in messages: you became allies, blah, blah, blah...

P.S.
I'm experimenting with some half-tested DX9 crack obtained from some Chinese forum, so I need to know is it legal game bug, or an issue with the crack.

Same thing happens to me if using 141 data with 135 exes.

I'll check it out shortly, though I've read about there being numerous bugs still even if a lot have been fixed now so it's probably not related to any modified exe or version differences.

EDIT: This might be related.

I found what was the issue. It had nothing to do with modified exe.

I had backup of UI folder with 1.0.1.135 data (so I could easily revert to 135, if experimental 141 crack was too buggy), and I kept it in Assets folder, but with different name ("UI 135 backup"). Still, it seems game used it to read "lua" data, instead of proper "UI" folder, updated with 141 data.

So it essentially didn't used 141 version of UI tweaks, leading to that anomaly I had (+400 food displayed). Now why would game read game data from different then default folder I have no idea. from now on, i don't keep any backups inside assets folder. Very Happy

Just to let know, I pretty much play all the time with 1.0.1.141 data files (thanks JBeckman!) and skidrow cracked DX11 exe from 1.0.1.135. It works ok, and all gameplay fixes from 1.0.1.141 are present.

P.S.
I don't use that experimental DX9 crack anymore, not because it's buggy but because I can't stand DX9 mode. No AA support, horrible texture streaming, ugly farms, etc...

Performance seemed a lot better until you had too many units and workers near the end of a long game, that slowed things down a bit but nowhere near as bad as before

I've not played since the big skidrow patch, tried the new scenario and it crashed on load, not looked at it since

the game doesn't crash as before... 15 hours play with the new patch so far and is quite stable. BUT the game stoped (please wait phase) on turn 373.-

ai is way better improved, so as diplomacy.

the game is now playable but needs another patch for details and the big malfunction problems in the later games.

seems there's a new patch out...

Sid Meiers Civilization V Update 6 – SKIDROW

Release Group: SKIDROW
Release Name: Sid.Meiers.Civilization.V.Update.6-SKIDROW
Release Date: 2011-01-08
Filename: sr-cvup6.r00
Size: 958.29 MB (1,004,839,335 bytes)
Genre: Strategy
Published by: 2K Games
Developed by: Firaxis

STABILITY:

- Fix for various rare crash bugs

MODDING:

- Re-enabled LUA library unused in the core game. It was removed because we didn’t think modders were using it, and apparently many, many are using it.

GAMEPLAY:

- Fixed bug where as Siam, food from Maritime City States didn’t provide the expected result.

- Make a few more negative promotions not pass through on upgrades

- Made the Mandekalu mounted unit have the same negative vs city as the other mounted units

- Increased the chance that the AI will improve sea plots

Install Notes:

1. Unpack the included rar files.
2. Run Sid.Meiers.Civilization.V.Update.6.exe and install
3. Copy the cracked content from SKIDROW directory to your
main installation directory and overwrite.
4. Play the game

Bonus Notes:

We have included the following DLC with this update.

Babylon (Nebuchadnezzar II)
Cradle of Civilization – Mediterranean
Cradle of Civilization – Asia

What's the latest version of the game after updating the latest patch?
Does this Update 6 by Skidrow include the latest patch?

After trying I can confirm the game runs much better now. At release I had to play on XP, DX10 was a slideshow. Now I get very decent framerate on Win7 DX10.

I also bought the game, so the crack could have been bad.

Late game still doing that crazy long turn wait once you've got alot of map discovered? I love the game but I have to be drunk to wait for other peoples turn to process once i've got multiple contents colonized.

Yeah it's downloading something.

EDIT:
http://www.multiupload.com/3H56PR05PP
(Includes mostly entire folders but should at least cover all content and also it includes the content that didn't match / was newer than the full "cracked update" previously out from what I was told when the NCF's were checked, 12 MB of data all in all, old exe can likely be used until these are modified or a new scene released update is offered. Smile )
