I so wish Sabin was still around to sum up what the hell is going on at PSX scene for dummies/newbs like myself. To be honest majority of the stuff there flies over my head but I´ll do some more research after this post. It seems like people are able to play GT5 now for example - is that with JB 3.41 with signed pup-files or what?

All you have to do with GT5 is replace the EBOOT.bin file once it's on your PS3 HDD, make sure you have the payload with the 3.50 spoof, one of the latest managers, and you're good to go. It might (no one says for sure) help to edit the PARAM.SFO to 3.41 as well. I've been playing it the last while and it works great.

i really want to play gt5 off the hard drive. shit takes forever and a day to load tracks and my drive makes a lot of noise. sad because i've only played 7 games on it since i got it 2 years ago.
i think i'll just wait for the full blown hax0r aids to infest my ps3 rather than mess with downgrading to 3.41. i "supposedly" have one that wouldn't be affected with the broken blu-ray but i'd still rather not chance it.

Thanks mate. Wokring on this right now. Trying to read up a little now. Seems most people use multiman manager now with patched mode to get GT5 to work. I like open manager and I don´t really care about all these different managers.
Can I also just ask what patched mode really does? I tried booting a regular game with patched mode with open manager and just got eboot missing error.

I've been using OpenManager with GT5, the latest revision (I believe it's 2.1i) and it seems to work perfectly fine. I had it hang using an earlier version (I'm talking way early). I haven't tried it using patched mode, as the only game I ever used that for was Super Street Fighter IV. If you need any guidance/help, just PM me...no worries...hope you get it working!

The best part of this ( since I don't own a PS3 ) is to just pay a visit to the fail0verflow/geohot news on any major "gaming" site and read the SDF members comments.

What an absolute load of HORSESHIT, just like 99.99% of everything else that comes out of you. Jesus H Christ, I have NEVER known anyone spread as much bullshit as you do. Fucking FARMERS don't spread as much bullshit as you do. I intended to take a much longer "vacation" simply because of clueless, offensive, arrogant, flaming, trolls that infest this site and corrupt it from within like a cancer... but I'm sorry, I just couldn't sit back and ignore this nonsense any longer, watching you constantly give nonsense advice and insults to people who desperately need help.
*sigh* Don't bother flaming back, you and many -many- others are now on my ignore list so I don't have to feel like I'm going to tear my face off with my bare hands every time I see one of your ridiculous posts.
@Thread:
GT5 is 100% perfectly functional now. 3.50 EBOOT.BIN has been decrypted, edited, signed, then encrypted so that now it works on 3.41 and it works PERFECTLY. There are no freezes, no crashes, no lock ups, no issues whatsoever outside of standard "version 1.00, lol, need patches!" game issues. If you're getting freezing during License tests, or certain game events, then a simple fix is all that's needed;
Run the game under "PATCHED MODE". Yep, it's THAT simple. Here are some instructions kindly compiled by users on P-Scene. I recommend using the latest version of Multi Manager (it really has come storming along, so much so that it's now my primary manager)
Quote: |
nstallation GT5 BCUS98114 proper way per FTP:
1. Clean all GT5 Data if any is left on your PS3
2. Start multiMan 1.12.00 and press R1 into Patch Mode
3. Connect from your PC to the PS3
4. Transfer the Game to your PS3 (in Patch Mode!) including the new EBOOT.BIN
5. After transfer, press R1 to leave Patch Mode
6. Press again R1 to enter Patch Mode (Gamelist rehashes)
7. Insert any BDVD Game
8. Mount the Game
9. Start it from BDVD
|
Now, if you already have the game on your machine - it's a simple fix without all those steps. Just load up MultiMan (or whatever manager you prefer) and enter PATCHED MODE, in this case just hit R1 and it will rehash the database and enable USB Fix mode. One of two things will happen, either the game list will refresh and you'll see all your games ready to load - or you won't. They'll be blank. If they're blank, it means you need to run the PL3-Fix app, which fixes the visibility/modification permissions on every file.
Stick that on your USB and install it via the packages menu on XMB. Once done simply run the "fixPermissions" app and wait a while. The screen will go black and the HDD indicator will go nuts for a minute or so, then dump you back to XMB afterwards. Once that's finished all your Backup Managers can now modify files properly, which means MultiMan/Gaia/whatever can activate R1-USB Patch Mode. Another note of importance is that in the future, when transferring more games to your PS3 via USB HDD or FTP, make sure you're running a manager that has FTP built in and Patched Mode ENABLED, this will negate the need to run fixPermissions.
Lastly, if you're getting "Error 80010019" then follow the steps provided by P-Scene member Thantelius
Quote: |
If you're experiencing the "An error occurred during the start operation (80010019)" message during the GT5 boot, just do the following:
1. Shut down your PS3
2. Remove your JB Dongle
3. Turn on the PS3
4. Insert a BD Game
5. Launch It
6. Turn off the system
7. Retry using your favorite backup manager (in my case OM 2.1I L1+L2 Patches)
=)

ENJOY FLAWLESS GRAN TURISMO 5 WITH ZERO ISSUES. Just don't update it yet! If/when you get the "Update 1.05 is available" prompt; Hit O and ignore it. If you update, you'll overwrite the hacked EBOOT.BIN with a legitimate one that still requires 3.50 to work.
=TL:DR=
-new copy-
1. Load Manager, activate Patched Mode.
2. Transfer GT5 to PS3 over FTP. Overwrite EBOOT.BIN in "PS3_GAME\USRDIR" with the hacked EBOOT.BIN.
3. Play.
-existing copy-
1. Install "PL3_Fix"
2. Run it.
3. Load Manager, activated Patched Mode.
4. Play.

I watched the whole 44minutes of the fail0verflow guys talk and it seems as if the companys could make "flawless" consoles the next time around. Take a look at the XBox 360. Besides the two smaller hacks it's pretty safe! (well except the weakness regarding the drives )
Next time around microsoft could come up with a console that might be "uncrackable"... just a thought

So we have to use cracked updates for Need For Speed and GT5?
I updated NFS but it says I need 3.50 to play it, so I deleted the update and the game works just fine.
Just have to wait until someone cracks the updates for these games so we can use them.
