no im not blaming the wrong people. valve isnt a little kid, they dont HAVE to sell at those prices. its THEIR system, they could refuse to sell at those inflated prices that they KNOW are insanely wrong. valve makes that choice to distribute at that price, and thats why i hate how valve uses steam. i mean publishers will ALWAYS try to overprice shit. thats their job. theyd try to charge 200 a game if they could... but valve.. man... valve is FINE with charge that kind of price? come on...
and why the hell is it that whenever any other company tries to inflate their prices and fuck over customers they are EVIL and corrupt and unethical, but when valve does it (as they constantly do) its fine and acceptable? yeah i get it, they were heroic and 'for gamers' in the past, but those days a long gone, its time to start holding them accountable for their business decisions. they are not the pure golden do-no-wrong company they may have once seemed.
i dont see how anyone could think valves decision to sell a game at $90 usd is even REMOTELY defendable (outside of a pure capitalism -fuck consumers- stance). ANYONE could see how unfair and insane that price is,and you can be sure that ANYONE working at valve could instantly realize it.... but valve is quite happy to set it... dont think its wrong of me to call valve out on this kind of shit.
like i said, until valve sorts this kind of rubbish out, digital distribution is a joke, that only becomes relevant a couple of years down the track, when the games you want, finally get a massive discount and end up at prices they should have been from day 1.

You still say "Valve's decision" :/ Steam is only a distribution platform, just like a store. The game you mention is overpriced in a regular store too. It's a price set by the publisher, Valve or any other distribution platform can't just lower the price. Sure they could decline the game entirely, but Valve is still a company wanting to make da moneh. Declining all Activision games would be extremely stupid for a company. If gamers are put off by the inflated price, they should boycot the game. The buyers are to blame, not Valve or other stores. If Activision can sell a game for 100 bucks, they'll do it. Hell, I'd do teh exact same thing if I had a company. If idiots want to pay that price, that price will be charged.

if i pop down to a store here, the game doesnt... and never DID... cost the equivilent of 90 usd.
websites that sell the game and are based overseas and ship internationally OR are based here in this country, NEVER charged anywhere NEAR that much.
why is it that EVERY. SINGLE. OTHER. COMPANY. that sells games in stores or online can somehow stand up the publishers and price their games IN-LINE with the region, but valve can not?
valve HAS THE POWER to insist that if publishers want to use THEIR platform, their prices MUST be inline with what has been set in those regions, i guarantee that the publisher would give in before telling valve it wouldnt use its platform... its not like ur asking them to sell at a loss, only to price in-line with the region - nothing more, nothing less...

You're assuming that's Valve's task. If no one buys it, the prices will drop. Valve is not a company which will and even should fight for gamers' right. No one here is claiming Valve is our friend and comrade in battle, it's a company. Why would they bother putting pressure on Activision?

Valve is a small company compared to Activision, they can do nothing about Activisions prices and their asshole CEO. And they need the CoD series on Steam to expand their customer base. Those games are constantly in the top sellers, you know, despite the horrible price.

look whatever, dont want an argument. all im saying is that how valve uses steam is rubbish, and i dont buy games through it for this reason. just makes no sense to me that a digital game that i have to download and has zero tangible presence, should cost more than a boxed copy that i could buy online or at the store.... this is why i say digital distribution is a sad direction to go, made worse by how valve has handled it. dont be surprised if eventually everything is digital and costs 2x as much as a store bought copy used to cost... because shit sure aint getting cheaper like i honestly (naively, clearly) believed the point of this method was and the direction it was expected to take.
who knows.. perhaps microsoft wants in on the whole thing, and will make good on its promise to 'save' pc gaming (heh), and try to take on valve with its own digital system... its kinda funny to pin hope on microsoft, but i hope they give it a try, because valve surely wont be our champion... microsoft is the ONLY one who could make this whole digital delivery shit worthwhile if they wanted to.

There are a lot of reasons for prices not dropping, the major one is the bitching from stores. If digital distribution channels drop prices, stores start to bitch. So unless publihers don't give a shit about pissing off stores anymore, prices will never drop. Steam is great for discounts and sales, I also wouldn't buy a full priced game digitally.
MS 'promised' to save PC gaming since the the launch of Vista, it's been proven to be bs since then.

Sadly, for Europe, that's exactly what they're doing. Games have always been around €50-60 here in NL; before the Euro, it used to be about 50-70 guilders depending on the game and platform, which converted is just €20-28 roughly.
Now it may be different down under, but fact is that part of Valve's business model is that they do not force any of these restrictions onto publishers. Like it or not, I consider that to be a fine business model, and it's part of why it does as well as it does.
The $1 == €1 is not Valve's decision either, that's a common worldwide trade policy nowadays. Just look at the price of any electronics, exactly the same there. Want hard examples?
- Google's Nexus (and now Nexus S): $500-550 or €500-550 ($662-728).
- Apple's MBP (base 15"): $1799 or €1749 ($2316.55)
And before anyone throws in taxes: even with those taken into account (including import taxes which is complete and utter bullshit as it's all made in Asia and has to be imported to the US as well), the US prices are substantially lower (an MBP without taxes here in NL still sits at $1950ish).
So you are in fact wrong, it's not Valve, it's the typical international trading. It's not the rest of the world being treated different to the US, but the US being treated different to the rest of the world. You're just unlucky that you're now being (mis)treated as if you're part of Europe.

*shrugs* again, all i was trying to point out is that digital distribution, for me, is pointless and crap because i can buy a new release at a store here for significantly less than what steam charges me, and that i see no future for digital distribution in my life if its more costly and more annoying than store bought.
but its all good... ill just continue to happily just pirate shit till... lets just say ALL the powers that be... get their shit sorted and decide they actually want to make a real future for digital distribution.... until then, im sure valve and its overlords wont miss my money one tiny bit

bought the neverwinter nights 2 pack, it's quite a bargain at that price and adds for some more convenience compared to the dvd discs.

No thanks. M&B has zero appeal to me. Andd they can kiss my ass on OA. Not buying it for $20 from steam when I could buy combined ops (A2 AND OA) from amazon for 12.50. If combined ops was 12.50 on steam I'd give it a chance. Hell, OA is only $10 by itself on amazon too. But I don't feel like buying games from yet another distro channel so I'm not getting it from amazon.

Just bought the Dragon Knight Saga for 26,79€ ( not a daily deal but still a damn good deal IMO ), I'll have to take a short break from the holiday sales.
The Doom Complete Pack seems tempting, though...

Apparently, you can get Prey at Gamersgate -75% (2,50$) and register it on Steam.
EDIT: It seems they run out of keys.
