As far as I know, you don't need one.
I play with a joystick. A true PC gamer must have a joystick. Laughing

I don't have a Saitek just a Thrustmaster t.16000m and an old Sidewinder FFB.
But I've got Saitek pedals. I guess I'm a true PC gamer. Razz

If you mean you don't need one to play the game(s), then that's not what I was asking about. Let me rephrase. Are those games significantly more enjoyable if you have a jpystick? How are the mouse+keyboard controls (difficulty)?

PS. This is about the X-series.

There are people (like me) who prefer to play anything that is related with flight/space simulation with a joystick / keyboard. There are others, who prefer mouse / keyboard. And I bet there are also some derps who prefer the use of a joypad for any kind of games.

The case of X-series is no difference from any other flight / space simulator.
I've seen X players saying saying that they prefer the mouse to the joystick, and others saying that's a sacrilege. I cannot tell you which way will you prefer or you'll find more enjoyable.

CoDMW2 was cheaper in a deal of some months ago (€24 if I remember well...), and yesterday I bought DAOUE from the UK EA Store for only £9.36: the proxy trick was very helpful! Razz
Maybe I'll buy the Flatouts...

I doubt valve is the only one to blame for an activision game price. Other games have more than decent prices especially around the holiday sales period.

Your blaming the wrong company. The publisher sets the initial price, he also sets if, when and how much is a game discounted. Your Valve dislike (hate?) is really affecting your judgement from what I see. Just yesterday, I saw a thread about L4D1 on the Steam forums. Someone was asking how many people are still playing it ~ 3-4k (~15k for L4D2). 3k is a lot for a supposedly abandoned game. It's actually better IMO, all the iritating kids and fanboys are playing L4D2. People were also saying some of the modes are better in L4D1. Sorry for the off-topic. Sad

Valve does not set the prices, the publisher does. So blame Activision. The "1 dollar = 1 euro" thing is Valve's choice afaik.

But someone has to gift me the game right?
I don't think that using a proxy will work. Sad
