Anyone playing this game with a GTX 460? I'm having a weird issue. In single player, when the game first loads any level, it stutters about for about 5 seconds, then resumes play normally. When a level begins with a cutscene, it usually delays all subtitles. I wouldn't normally get worried about such a small problem, but my old 9800GT never had this issue. Can anyone help me?

All I saw (and proberbly Theescapist too) was a message that said "Can anyone help me?" ...kind of hard to help when you don't say what you need help with. BUT I guess you've said that in another message earlier in the thread?

Edit: In a thread as big as this one (even if your other message happened to be just a couple of lines up...I saw that now) You really should include what you needed help with in all messages rather than just ask if people can help you. Kind of hard to keep track of everyone here.

As I mentioned a bit earlier (Or maybe that was someone else.) everything is unlocked as there's far less stuff available however you still need to unlock extra additions like weapon specific perks and such bonuses and the shotgun requires veterancy status for your EA account.

It's sort of a small DLC (Well not that small.) adding a new theme to the game but there's not that much in terms of actually new content aside from the theme specific setting so period correct equipment and vehicles in matching maps.

I'm not that good with explanations and haven't really progressed very far but as I see it there's basically three weapons per class (Accuracy, damage or rate of fire kind-of so nothing that's "best" as such.) all being similar to how it worked and what class equipment there was and how it was distributed in Bad Company 2 plus the generic group that does include the flamethrower which should probably be treated as a new type of weapon, shotgun is also locked as mentioned.
(You'll also see a number of misc stuff there like the Garand and Thompson.)

EDIT: That said it did surprise me as well but I figure it's due to the above as there's fewer class specific items minus the perk unlocks so depends on what you prefer.

What's better to adjust for performance for this game? I'm referring to the base game and not the Vietnam pack as that runs great.

The MP has a slight slow down for me but I'm running on max detail at 1680x1050 so I am definitely willing to go down a notch or two if I need to. The card I'm running is a 260GT I believe.

Should I lower the res first or the quality of detail? I'm totally comfortable with playing at 1280x1024 is necessary. I love graphics, but not as whorey as some hehe.

Its probably a matter of taste.
I prefer lowering detail before rez.
Shadows off.
Set the driver settings to performance over quality.
Remove AA and AF.
Whenever possible turn off bloom.

This is for general use tho, not specific to bfbc2!

you have to turn that off or just do it for some other reason?

running 1920*1080p 4xAA 8xAF - dx10 - All i turn off is the HBAO shit whatever it is, I think the game looks better without it for sure.. The colours in Bfbc2 are nice like the game alot..
This is all on a 4870 1gb card btw, and I would still say 10.5a hotfix drivers for the ati cards are the better performer on that game..

Not got the dlc for it yet but will do shortly...

Well of course it depends on your specs.
If you got a mean machine you prolly wont need to turn anything off.
It was just different suggestions what he could try to turn off and see what made the biggest difference performancewise.
For me usually its shadows and bloom that are the largest performance hogs.
Except for AA and AF.
Then again, it depends all on your system.

Bought the game. First i couldnt the game to start up (because it tried to start with some non-supported resolution), then when i did get it to start had to go through the hassle of creating an EA account.

Okays...that done tried to join a multiplayer game, game crashed. Oh phooey.

Started up again and this time it loaded up a map but it looked really strange and whadda ya know: BSOD. -ati3duag.dll

*sigh*

Havent reinstalled video drivers yet but wheee what great first impressions. Sad

I have an i7-950 at 3.2 GHz I think it's at. 6GB of RAM as well. The machine is beefy enough I'm sure, so I'm thinking it might be the vid card limitation?

Anyway, like I said, not really a huge deal as to which I tone down I was mainly asking for suggestions for which route to take to try first. Thanks to both of you. I'll try with detail first I think since some of that stuff does indeed look like shit when enabled.

there is a ton of info though as well on web about setting.ini changes and stuff regarding performance.. You should be able to find a happy medium, either way the game is great I think wether it looks its utmost best or toned down..

To me I dont pick up on the lack of candy if the game play sucks me in Very Happy

And with Bfbc2 it does suck you in as you goto be on your toes all the time to not die every few seconds..

Agreed! And that slight stutter/performance hit actually makes a huge difference in a game such as this. If it was an RPG of sorts, it'd probably be fine.

Same. I got bored after playing it for 2 days. So little content in such large maps.

They should just have made 5 more maps for bc2.
