Magic: The Gathering Tactics

It's gonna be free to play with microtranslation title, tho it will be more similiar to heroes in the battles - with magic's creatures & spells. It looks quite nice.

Apparently it's getting close to release now. I saw some demo of it on Gamespot and now I can't wait for them to release it. It's confirmed for 2010 only a few days ago. Hopefully soon.

looks to me like it follows the same setup as MTG Online. Download the client, you get one free deck/spellbook, and my guess is one free campaign. Other than that, money money money

Oh yeah? Really? By Batman's pink undies I think you're right! And here I was thinking they were doing it out of goodness of their heart. It's a sad time when producers of goods expect to get paid for their work. Sad times indeed.

On a sidenote I just bought 5000 stationbucks on the Sony Online site. It's a 50% sale from the 17th to the 19th -- today! That might be enough to buy a few decks or however they're going to make their money on this title.

Rolling Eyes So, where did I say I don't think developers should get paid? Go ahead, find it. I'm waiting.

Only place I've seen with a date of Dec 23, or a date at all, is http://games.gamepressure.com/game_info.asp?ID=14223

Other places I've read they said "coming for the holidays, 2010" and others say that date has slipped and it could be feb. Basically, it's all rumors and nobody knows for sure. Could come out this week, could come out next. They've already missed the timing for the holiday season I think.

Magic the Gathering: Duels of the Planeswalkers I was OK with as everyone (at least initially) had access to the same decks. The playing field was even. This is free-to-play but pay-to-win bullshit that need not be supported.

I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

My problem with MTG:O was that you pay the exact same price for non-existent digital cards as you do for the physical paper cards. Yeah, sure you could collect a whole digital set and trade those in for a set of the real cards...That's a lame-ass attempt at justification for charging for digital cards. I would have been glad to pay a standard game price, get access to all the cards, and play with whoever I want, even if it's not for tourneys. I've got zero interest in paying them repeatedly for little bits of data that cost them nothing.

And I expect them to treat this game the same way only there's no physical counterpart to these digital bits your buying. You give them money but you get nothing tangible in return. This isn't like paying for an expansion or DLC. This is wallet-rape.

That's because it's scheduled to be released in half an hour.

It's already past half an hour. Where is my MTG?

Anyway, good thing no game I'm interested in is coming out February. Will probably grab a Mirrodin Besieged booster box. Or two.

Hey, everyone. We know you are all excited about the release of the game. We are working out a few issues right now. These processes take time, and we'll be ready to go when the game is ready. We should be good to go shortly, but keep in mind that we have to verify that these issues have been resolved. Please be patient while we work through these last issues.

Only 5 SP missions without paying... and I've played two matches with real people, but they quit saying there was too much lag and bad graphics...

Not having fun right now Laughing

It's pathetic. Tournaments available only in the USA, extreme 15 seconds lag, missing some standard resolutions(1280x1024), pretty much no content without paying.

Of course. Just like MTGO you only get a taste. Them saying it's a free game is silly. You are essentially just getting a demo and you can "unlock" more content by giving them more and more money. Then, if you want to be competitive you give them even more money. Bah. I'll pass.

"Okay, the international players should be able to join tournaments shortly. Only the 7 restricted US states will not be allowed to participate in tournaments. I don't have that list handy right now, but I'm working on getting it. Thanks!"
