Sounds interesting, will give it a shot.

And I believe Y axis is generally regarded as up/down Wink X being left/right, and Z forward/backward

well, that depends on the standard view point. I ignorantly just assumed a top-down view Razz
In retroperspective i should have said "movement is limited to 2 axes" i guess

How it can be an ugly version of X3 when as far as I know it is a different kind of game?
Well there is the space thing and there are spaceships.

They are having a problem with the GG version.
http://www.spacesimcentral.com/starpoint-gemini-f32/ctd-t1499.html
it seems that in general people are having a favourable opinion.
The devs already stated that they will improve and add new things in future patches.
Besides it's modable, which can be great if the game creates enough intererst to create a community.

Probably not worth it unless you're a hardcore fan of the genre (and therefore have played the other games to death already).

If you look at flight dynamics in 3d graphics you will see that yaw is rotation around y, pitch x, and roll z. Which makes z forward Smile

Math doesn't define which axis is "up", it depends on the context.

doesnt look that bad, I always keep my eye out for this style of gameplay game, I have yet to find any that fit my needs or style of play.. Tried most as well... Either some are overly complex and detract from real gameplay or way to simplified and boring..

If anyones playing it and they like it, can you put some bullet points on what is nice about it as compared to others of sim type of game.

Read in a thread that someone got around the crashing issue by changing the Full Screen option in the .cfg to 0, starting the campaign, saving as soon as possible, then exiting and restoring the Full Screen option.

Don't currently have the game so can't try it, but it may prove helpful to those that want to give it a shot!

They've seem to have addressed these issues now with the proper build up instead of that debug build or what it was, now listed as 1.0.0.2 instead of 1.0.0.0
(EDIT: For more info check the forum thread that was linked to above, it was a pretty weird issue and shouldn't really have happened but it's addressed now.)

I'm currently uploading the modified files, unfortunately it's mostly the EXE that's been changed along with one texture for the version information number so it'll need a new crack.
(Windowed mode will work however just don't press F7 or F8 as those are debug keys which are currently enabled in 1.0.0.0 that opens a ship menu and levels you up.)

EDIT:

No, they didn't still addressed it.

One of the devs:
Quote:
The resolving of the issue is still under way. GG has already updated version but, it is a preliminary result. Our team is downloading and conducting further tests as we speak. We ll keep you updated, but we believe we are on the right track

EDIT: This game will be patched a lot of times. Not only to solve the problems but also to add new features as the devs promised. I guess, if you like the style, is better to buy it, because I don't think that will be a crack each time a new patch will come out.

True but below that it was also said that the download link didn't work yet whereas it now does and the issue is fixed though as your post shows further testing and fixes might come as well. Smile

OK. Unfortunately I have to say we're even more baffled than yesterday and even more frustrating. We've got the exact same version and it works normally on all 16 computers with different OSes. Not a single crash. We're going to need your help, if you still have the patience with us. If we could redo the crash, we could easily locate the problem, this way we got squat.
I would like to ask that anyone who wishes, to open up GameConfiguration.cfg in the root, set ActivityDebugger to 1 and crash the game. Then send us the ActivityRecord.txt to dorijan@starpointgemini.com.

It's not a good start for a indie developer. I'm sure they will solve the issues. The question is when.

Does anyone know how to make any kind of money in the Free Play game, i did the 3 missions in the starting sector, fine, but i checked every station at least twice each, and couldn't find any Mining Equipment, plus the commodities were all too expensive to buy and make profits off of, and as soon as i decided to try another sector, the first enemies i came across killed me in about 3 seconds.
