Korea produces a lot of "odd" movies that would be too experimental for Hollywood and a lot of people find them refreshing. I personally enjoyed movies like the "Revenge trilogy", Mother, Memories of Murder, Thirst...
They feel different to Hollywood without succumbing to arthouse.

Did you see "Chaser"? Very nice korean flick as well Smile

YES, forgot about that one. Awesome thriller.

If someone wonders why people bother with Korean movies, watch "Chaser" ("Chugyeogja" in Korean).

meh all countries are like america when it comes to movies.... they all manage to occasionally come out with something good, but you always have to wade through miles of shit to find it... so to ask why bother with korean cinema, is to ask why bother with ANY cinema... its got the same quality to shit ratio pretty much as any country does... cept england i guess, because their cinema is like 99.995% shit.

only difference, i guess, is that korean films need subtitles, and american ones dont...

That's not true. Israeli cinema, if you can call it cinema at all Laughing, is 102% shit with no redeeming features. Some of the lol wut here love the old "comedies" but there is nothing redeeming about them. Just cliched garbage that dances on cultural differences, usually blaxpolitation-esque.

Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows Part I - 7/!0 It was alright, I just enjoy watching the movies now that I have read the books, think they complement each other nicely. However the next movie has to contain a lot of bang Razz

I don't like that they made it into a teen drama. The magic is really minimal. In the first two movies you really could see interesting magic effects, and now it's like they are trowing firecrackers...

The actors are now a lot more famous and take a heftier paychecks, and it is a lot cheaper to shoot sparse or practical effects and have teens bla bla instead of going full blown effects. Smile

Not enough pew pew pew for dingo. Cool Face Laughing

I wouldn't mind if action was put aside for a good, serious drama, and I will not say that there are no good teenager actors (some even in the cast), but alas, this is not the case with HP.
