U can download the game, but not a firewall Smile
The game connects, but it is not a problem. When you've entered all serials, and it is correct, the game doesn't connect anymore Smile

does it really connect only once? If yes, I would sacrifice some of my braincells installing and configuring some shitty firewall

I just tried to play again after reactivating my internet connection and no go. You have to install a firewall or disable your connection everytime.

Okay all you shit for brains!

edit your hosts file located in C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc so the last line looks like this:

127.0.0.1 idnet.ua-corp.com

Now you can play doom 3 without disconnecting from the internet.

Thx to Stabbe for the idea, I just wrote this small explanation so all the fucktards out there knows how

Of course it works, it resolves the address of their auth servers to your internal ip forcing it to give you the benefit of the doubt.

No problems at all with this release. Plays wonderfully, and is a lot of fun. This really should have been Doom 3.

It's funny to see people whine about disabling your network connection. It really is simple and fast. Control Panel -> network -> right click, disable. Is that really difficult? Some people would bitch about breathing if they didn't have other things to cry about. Babies. It's worth it.

coolio, nice increase for your 9600 pro! can't wait to check with my X800. Maybe they've polished ATi performance a bit this time.

What card is it? what drivers are you using? 6800 agp with shaders unlocked? Could also be a corrupt install. I was having big issues trying to burn the image that i ended up sticking the image file onto a dvd and mounting it virtually.

yeah it runs much better, original Doom 3 never ran really poorly for me even on the highest settings but with this you can tell the difference right away no need to even run a frames per second test. Im hoping the improvements carried across to the original Doom 3 because that was a game I never bothered to complete.

As for the expansion seems pretty nice, played upto the part where you get your first usage of the relic that slows down time, the grav gun is pretty decent as well I had expected it to be one of those "put a gravity gun in the game for the sake of it" jobs like project snowblind but its fairly well done. Im not keen on using it as a weapon though grabbing enemies fireballs and chucking them back seems like alot more work than gunning them down with a shotgun plus having the fireball floating in the middle of your aiming reticle combined with the very tight levels that Doom 3 has kind of reduces the effectiveness of the weapon for me anyway.

Overall though very cool expansion. Smile

Is the expansion as dark as the original Doom 3 is? I think that was the weakest point of the original...

Doom.3.Resurrection.Of.Evil.CRACKFiX-MiNT
Bypasses call-home behaviour during key validation, clean and
simple. There is now no need to disconnect from the Internet or to
change your hosts file.

For me, having rear sound channels in D3 was a MUST. Sad

My specs :

Abit AV8 motherboard (latest bios)
AMD Athlon 64 3500+
1Go DDram
Galaxy Geforce 6800 GT (agp)

Nothing overclocked.
The game image was mounted with daemon tools.
I tried the latest beta detonators (76.41),and some others (even the latest official 71.84), and I always have this bug.
But the weirdest thing is that Doom 3 (the orignal game) works fine, really.
Even the expansion, except this bug with this "flying ennemy" on the beginning of the game (and even in the introduction, when the "boss" unleash the monsters...I have a huge green "circle" that appear in the background).
I've uninstalled the expansion and doom 3, and I will try tomorrow to reinstall everything (I'm not at home for the moment), but I really don't know why I have this bug. Every other game I have /had on my computer work(ed) perfectly.
Confused
Anyway, thanks all for your replies Wink

I will never understand why it is such a big problem for some people to just play offline. I play all my games offline without being connected to the internet or having something running in the background.
