5 was like 3 with hyped graphics, but as far as the story goes 3 all the way!

I have never played HoMM2, so I can not really say anything.
But as far as HoMM5 goes, I can not stand the 3D view..I prefer plain old 2D view that HoMM3 has..and graphics..I just can not stand them
I been playing HoMM3 for over 10 yeears now and can't bring myself to a change

HoMM II was far better than the newer one I played, either 4 or 5, it was so dull
I played the demo of the 2nd game for months before buying it
Don't think I tried the 3rd

Lol I also played the demo of HoMM II for months but never bought it. I purchased HoMM III when it came out. 4 was ok...but 5 sucks>_> 2 and 3 are the best...those are classics.

I actually prefer IV (don't crucify me ) in terms of music and story (they really effed the actual combat up though). |

I've played all Homm games from II to V... All were special in their own way.
What I miss though in the later part of the series is the "immersion". I remember when I was playing homm II and whenever you picked artifacts or did some small things you would get little stories about how a crazy wizard did something or a witch cursed someone etc etc etc and it was fun to read. Rather than the plain "You picked up a whatever sword".

Heroes 2-5 were all great (5 is a bit better than 3 if not for the horrible performance).
Played every single one of them, every single skirm map except for the 5th installment. Cuz damn... the campaign of 5 = loooooooonng.

For me it isn't, the graphics are crappy and the unit design is horrible.

Do we need all this 3 vs 5 thing?
Everyone has it's on opinion about his favorite game of the series..

Some screens, few gameplay shots and some unit images. |
They should stick to the classic fantasy creatures like in the older games. It's all too dark now, imo. The recent Kings Bounty for example hit the spot, terrifying/majestic looking creatures were actually units to beware of, and not what you see in most games today where every creature in each tier look cool just to be cool.
I also hope they don't add the adrenaline concept, or at least changed it. Ridiculously imbalanced and not fun to play with or against.

Pre-purchase info, unsure what protection it'll use though, includes two additional things (item and hero.) and beta access plus what the limited edition bonuses give should that version be pre-ordered.

One thing I hated about 5 is everything took ages, such a clunky engine. Ending a turn, starting and ending a battle, clunky camera function, etc. Despite this I still enjoyed the game for the most part. Hopefully this one performs better.
