EDIT: ArmA 2 CO (ArmA 2 and OA) is about a bit over 40$ but OA alone is something like a bit over 30$.

(And Steam isn't exactly the cheapest alternative so retail or Sprocket might have better pricing.)

In the US, OA is $39.99 and ArmaII + OA is $49.99.

No, OA is $39.99 on steam.I got it for $27 on Gogamer. It was a midnight madness deal and it ended last night.Ive had vanilla Arma 2 since it was released so I had no need for Combined Ops.

No ,it didn't drop in price. I don't know if it's cheaper, but in Sprocket (Sprocket belongs to BIS) cost 8.99€ with VAT.

Prague, Czech Republic, September 30th – Bohemia Interactive, an award winning independent development studio and creators of the genre defining military simulator games Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis and Arma 2, are proud to announce completion of full acquisition of development teams Altar Games (located in Brno, Czech republic), Black Element Software and Centauri Production (both located in Prague). All four original development studios will continue operating both individually and cooperatively on various projects, as parts of Bohemia Interactive.

“Game development stands and falls with the skills, vision and enthusiasm of its developers” said Marek Spanel, Bohemia´s CEO and continues “this acquisition strengthens our studio by adding extremely experienced and talented developers from three different teams at Altar, Black Element and Centauri. It is true milestone in our company’s history.”

Bohemia Interactive is well known for its military simulator games such as Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis and the military simulator of 2009 Arma 2. The recently acquired development teams bring with them a wealth of talented and experienced professionals in strategy, action, RPG and adventure genres. Altar Games known for its strategy titles Original War and the UFO Trilogy (UFO: Aftermath, UFO: Aftershock and UFO: Afterlight); Black Element have a great sense for action as shown in games Shade: Wrath of Angels and Alpha Prime; Centauri Production are talented authors that focus on adventure titles such as Memento Mori as well as games for children or family games. This important step elevates Bohemia into one of the biggest independent development teams in the region.

IDEA Games continue as partner in charge of business development, marketing, PR and legal services for enlarged Bohemia Interactive.

Recently released standalone expansion pack to the leading PC military simulator Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead and DLC Arma 2: British Armed Forces will be followed by new titles in the near future:

* Pound of Ground: crazy action game from a 3rd person view with tons of zombies.
* Carrier Command: Gaea Mission, action game with strategic elements, based on the ground breaking classic.

Bohemia Interactive is also working on continuous support and new development of its award winning line up of military simulation games.

odd
it's not like there's any overlap with any of the companies
maybe they're just bored with simulations and want to expand

I think they aren't bored.
They just want to expand. Probably they don't want to have all the eggs in the same basket.

See? They have money if they can aquire three studios.

BIS is bored with military games, thats why they are "rebooting" Gaia Command, which will lbe their new game using the ArmA2 engine. So expect it to be as clunky as their previous games. Very Happy

It's not that bad guys... BIS knew they have very demanding fan base, so if they making cheap crap fans will be very disappointed and consider buying future addons.

But 1 thing is sure, this DLC have more content than MOH has Cool Face

yes i know about that site, but the search function there is terrible (it just uses google) and the layout/structure makes it difficult to find a specific texture mod too, all i found was car/weapon rerextures and new landmasses, all in the same mod section..

Just as a note (Haven't played much, waiting for the PMC expansion, there's a new video for it as well.) there's new full patches for each of the game parts (ArmA 2, ArmA 2 OA and finally BAF) plus a new beta for OA with various enhancements. Smile

The second mini-expansion is now available via Sprocket and probably other sources (Gamersgate/Steam.) will follow shortly. Smile

EDIT: And it needs the new 1.56 patch coming later on today.
(1.55 released a short while ago and a beta after that was released a day or two ago.)

So far it seems a bit more serious and personal from the previous campaigns but I'm still at the start (Second mission.) so I can't say much at the moment, tries to be more emotional though and has a better presentation and story progression than before or so I find it at least.

Still very demanding in terms of performance but you don't have to push everything as high as possible (I tend to do that though.) so it's rather tunable, haven't seen many of the new systems but that other guy Dixon ("Dickie" as called in one of the screens I posted, haha.) had that drum fed auto (Or was it semi?) shotgun (AA12 I think it is called or some such, not the USAS.)

Very interesting visual touches in terms of weather and lighting data and difficulty is pretty high at the later difficulty settings though custom is usually preferred as to fine tune everything, quite a few AI soldiers though my companion handled things extremely well and they seem more intelligent now due to patch advancements though aiming can still be a bit imprecise but I guess it is rather realistic since the game isn't quite a FPS in style or how to describe it.

A lot of humor and heavier language as well (As the screens show somewhat.) and mission variety will probably be a bit more diverse as well, unsure about overall length though and what will be featured, I'd say it seems more infantry focused so far with little vehicle support but that might change as well.

Yeah, right. The only way that's going to happen is if you catch a steam sale or something. Then again, it's only a $10 add-on so it's possible. But hell, ARMA2 has barely dropped price since it came out other than the occasional steam sale

Arrowhead adds a new exe (Version 1.5 of ArmA 2 sort-of.) which BAF and PMC utilize and also require (1.54 for BAF and 1.56 for PMC)
