Yeah I issues with the game too.
I did the full 8gb install but after a couple of races the game crashed on the GT logo loading screen.
I quit the game and restarted it and then it loaded my car but there were was no pointer on any icons so I couldnt select anything.
Restarted the game and again and all was ok.
It also tells me the time and date are incorrect lol.
May the NFOrce be with you always.

Anybody else got that fucking stupid shitload error that the fucking game has insufficient fucking space, because it need 32 fucking MB and the remaining 230 GB of space is not fucking enough? WHAT THE FUCK?

I read about a problem like this for other games.
Ratchet & Clank and Prototype and possibly more had this issue and required a patch.
The solution was to add or delete about 600mb of data to the ps3 hdd. Either download a demo/game or delete some demos.
Might not help here, but it's worth a try.
-edit-
it seems you can also import a CD to the ps3 instead of downloading or deleting something.

if you read read through some forums, their servers are getting hammered, and a lot of functions are having issues, they (PD) suggest singing out of PS3 network for the time being while you play and they try to sort the errors you guys are mentioning. Yesterday I had the connectivity issues too, not being able to get online, no pointeres, etc.. it's all related, they ask for patience while they seek ways to fix the problems...

Could have waited for Easter then. Still I wonder if they regret having said all that bullshit about how marvellous the game will be. It's good for sure (when it works) but on the other hand, nothing revolutionary. Photo mode looks stunning, but in-race graphics? Well, seen the same quality in FM3 and that was some time ago. Not to mention aliasing and the shades which look really ugly.

Found a troll... Don't like it fine enough, stop bitching about it. IT's a great game and it works fine, and online runs fine too, had a blalst with friends last night... Forza better? Not in my opinion.. I have the xbox as well, but I don't ever use it anymore.. The game is great and I"m not a fanboy... It's the subtle thiings most people wont get. Well, I don't like it. I bought it yesterday and installed, had time to play one race only. Wanted to play it today, but it gave me this fucking lack of 32MB HDD space. So I deleted it and now trying to reinstall. For good 20 minutes it keeps showing 13 minutes left and the progress bar doesn't seem to move. So yes, I fucking don't like.
Wow, it moved - after half an hour of 13 minutes left now it is more precise - keeps showing 1 min 10 sec. left. I wonder if it still will miss the 32MB HDD space.

Admitted crashing issues, admitted memory issues, online not working for a majority of us users. It's not being a troll to explain exactly what is occurring AND admitted by the dev team themselves.
I am not sure what a "blalst" is.
But I know many of us are not currently having a BLAST.

Game is beautiful, it's wonderful to drive, and so, so polished in spite of all the negative feedback you're hearing on forums and in reviews. The standard cars are practically indistinguishable in everything except photomode and the driving model is so alive and enjoyable. It really distinguishes between different gradients so you can feel the transitions going up and down hill, it's probably even better than PC sims in that respect, even if it's tracks aren't as meticulously detailed as iRacings.
I was able to use the internet functions earlier although I didn't bother actually driving online but I eventually noticed some hanging in the menu screens and signed out of PSN to solve it. Other than that its been completely plain sailing. I've not noticed any issues related to loading either. A full install on a 500GB HDD is very smooth, and relatively fast, especially after a couple of hours (when the thumbnail images are all mostly generated).
I am getting sick of having to turn off traction control in the license tests and special events (which are a nice time sink) and the damage (at level 8 ) is non-existent in both visual and mechanical form (which for the latter is disappointing as you can red-line to your hearts content), but (with a view to updates and unlocks) as the 'the real driving simulator' 'game' it succeeds 100%.
I'm so impressed - and I'll be honest watching some of the videos and hearing some of the comments I was expecting the worse so it was a surprise to see just how polished and amazing the game was. Honestly if you like your driving games, and you like them realistic you will love this.

I'm personally unimpressed. Statically the graphics are fine, shadows an exceptions, but have Sony forgotten about v-sync? The tearing is terrible.
Load times load times are far too high and the menu system is rather retarded. AI is typical GT AI whereby if your on the racing line, and it wants to be it'll happily drive into you.
After 5 years I'd hoped for something more than a graphical overhaul with a few cars and tracks :/

I must admit that once installed and run the game is much more appealing. Did a few races, even online. It sure has potential. Graphics is uneven - would have been very good if not for the tearing and aliasing, car models are very nice though.
Oh, one more thing - how to turn off in-race music?

That image has been doing the rounds for some days now and trust me it doesn't reflect GT5 at all. And I do mean, at all. I've just come back from playing GT5 and I can't contain mountains of laughter after seeing that image. Driving in the Mercedes Benz AMG special event, which is just pure unadulterated awesome, only to come back and see... whatever the fuck that is... it's just too funny for words.

I'm sure there is tearing in there, because I've seen it in youtube videos - notably on tracks with rain, but I've not personally noticed it. It seems to bother some people more than others. Guess I'm lucky.
Anyway some photos I took. Came out darker than I thought.
The Top Gear special event is fun at first but a real bitch to complete. AndI don't know what's wrong with the Elise in the second challenge either but it doesn't seem to like you driving it (losing it on the first corner ).
Karting is particularly fun. Was surprised how much I liked it since it appeared really dull and lifeless in the videos.

That car is really there and the quality is as in that pic.
Yes, quality is usually higher than that particular model, and yes, big difference with premium models.
The game simply have 2 level of detail for premiums and standards.
Like it has been developed from 2 different teams and then merged: one true HD (from textures to polycount), the other is GT4 models in high res (same texture + more or less same polycounts).

There's a section for brakes, but I didn't see any parts. Maybe in an update - the first of which is out on Saturday - as the Apex magazine that comes with the game has a whole section on them.
Quote: | That car is really there and the quality is as in that pic. |
Andrea, I was playing it less than half an hour ago and I won that particular car Trust me when I say you won't be able to tell the difference between standards and premiums at a glance whilst playing the game - and even in photomode the quality can be very, very good all things considered;
Obviously there will be some grumpy sorts (with or without an agenda) who sit down and focus on the negatives, but as I said before; the way you read, hear, and see things on youtube, and with static images like that completely betrays the high level of quality the game has on the big screen right in front of your eyes. Some cars do look better than others, mainly because of textures, but they are the exception by and large.
Now that I have the game, and have been wowed by its presence, it brings a smile to my face when I see pictures like that because it's seriously just too funny when you're playing the real thing. It's like someone's posting a picture of a completely different game - even if it isn't. But if even I was curious and worried by static images and less than flattering youtube videos prior to getting the game - I dare say you will be running in the opposite direction as fast as possible
Your loss at the end of the day though.

That's from photomode yes, which for standard cars is the gameplay model.
Quote: | I'm wondering again: They needed five years and $70 million for that? |
It was $60 million, and no, I think they needed the money for other stuff like licenses and the rest of the game - but you're the expert, you tell me

out of this thread, too much crapping in here from people don't understand what this simulator is, damage is there, I"m not going to explain it to you, I have it and I"m level 4... Chasis damage is there, and effects your ability to drive the car correctly, not going to explain it further either. Do some reading, or just uninstall it and sell it, you're better off doing so, believe me, lol... The game isn't for you then.. the driving model is second to none. No game comes close to the sim in this game... Only issues I have as others do is some odd shading effects and V-sync, the tearing is annoying at times. I'll say this again though, this is a simulator, not a game. I suppose you could play Arcade mode though. ANyway, outta here.

The AI is supposed to vastly improve as you gain in rank, here's an excerpt from the 1up review
Quote: | There are a number of Gran Turismo 5's more anticipated features that curiously don't really reveal themselves until you've put a rather significant amount of time into the game. For example, the computer-controlled racers' A.I. has always been a source of contention in the GT series, and early in the game, it doesn't appear to have been addressed -- the other cars in the field are more obstacles than opponents. But progress into the high teens and twenties in driver level, and suddenly the A.I. drivers seem more organic, aggressive, and unpredictable. Similarly, the much-talked-about new damage modeling in Gran Turismo doesn't fully come into play until later as well. |
So lets see if gets better. For me the game is amazing, I was worried after reading a lot of the comments, but it's beautiful , handles like a dream and is thoroughly engrossing. Hopefully any little niggles will be sorted out with patches, eg interior views on standard cars

The SimBin games feel much more realistic than this simulator, though this is a better balance between fun and realism IMO. It's great fun.. and its hard to notice the graphics issues (or non-issue iMO.. the graphics quality of the game is consistent with other PS3 games except for maybe GoW3/Uncharted 2 who use proper anti-aliasing) when you're flying down the track at 140 mph.
edit: posted about graphics before seeing that godawful pic AndreaSpooky posted... thats pretty embarrassing on the devs.

10!!!!!10!!!!!10!!!!!10
That is my score for this game! It is absolutely hands down the best driving game I have ever experienced! GT Mode is where it's at! I am now at level 7 driving the BMW coupe and it's almost not fair. I just finished a race 15 seconds in front of the 2nd place finisher. Of course this is on beginner. I am now racing in Amateur races which are more competitive. Don't get me wrong not every race is a 15 second win. I had a real close one before I got my BMW that this classic Corvette was just unstoppable. I lost by .128 or something like that, very exciting.
At level 7 I was racing my BMW coupe and hit the wall and my whole left front bumper was damaged and hanging down. My wife loves BMWs and was like Nooooo, what did you do to my car!
I really appreciate that PD put the Licencing training into this game. I have been playing driving games for a long time and knew these tricks already but it was great to see them offer help to the newby.
I started the game by going to the Dealership and buying the Nissan Vitz and I did very well even into level 4. The opponent cars were obviously a lot faster but it's all about technique, perfectly timed blocking and jockeying for position around curves. The games controls are so good I have precision control moments with my controller, yes, my controller. Cheering during the races saying DID THAT JUST HAPPEN!! Neck and neck with a 350Z going into the final turn and I was able to force him into the dirt where he spun out and I finished well ahead!! Just one of the many great moments I have had in a total of 6 hours of GT5.
My favorite view so far is the headlight view with the review mirror up above in the middle. I use to be in the camp where I needed to see my car but not anymore. It's so imperative that I see my opponent in my review mirror. I also like the cockpit view as well which are very detailed and realistic.
I played for 5 hours last night and I haven't even touched the Used Cars. I went into Used Cars to see what it was about but didn't need to buy any of them. So, the standard car problem that is really upsetting many people doesn't even exist for me. Can you imagine how long it would have taken PD to model 1000 cockpits? GT5 wouldn't have come out until 2014 and during that process would have been ridiculed and would have taken over DNF's spot for vaporware champion!
Once I heard they were having issues I now play signed out of PSN and experience no problems. I actually haven't experienced one problem yet. You have to remember that there are a ton of options in this game. More than any other racer/sim. Yes it would have been great if the game was perfect right from the start. I am so happy that there is a company like PD that put in the time and effort to create something so beautiful with meticulous precision. Companies like EA would have released GT6, 7, 8 and 9 by now and they would have been very sub par. I am also really excited about the support and future content that PD will provide. This game is in very good hands and anyone who played it, got mad, deleted it and returned it is making a GIGANTIC mistake. This is a game that's going to keep on giving.
I don't understand any of the complaints that I have read so far. I think the tracks look great. Maybe I am just not as picky as the nay sayers. It's all about control for me. The weight of the cars is perfect. Not every car feels the same.
I just started getting into the tuning last night and I must say I am giddy with excitement. Once I get to level 8 and buy my new BMW sedan I am going to completely overhaul my car and ride it to level 10 or higher. I have to save some money to buy other cars so that I can compete in classic races where it only allows cars that are pre-70 era! That is a very cool thing! You cannot use that BMW for every race. I haven't even tried the Carts or Rally yet!! Wow, this is quite the steal at only $60! Well, I have said a mouthful. Cannot wait to get back to it! My son WILL TAKE A NAP TODAY!!
