Yeah, wait for Guardians of Graxia. Now that really looks cool. Tho it's a single-player game.

Agreed and disagreed.
DO check out Guardians of Graxia (which is out on steam and already has a DLC out too), but don't skip MtG for it, they're both great games, and cheap as chips on steam, or heck go the Skidrow route or whoever comes first with a Graxia release.
After a life full of FPS/RTS/MMO gaming, and nearing the age of 45, I found my eyes to be getting worse, my attention span to be shrinking etc etc. long story short, I was looking for some challenging gaming without having to be present for a 4 hour long raid, or a mindblowing RTS session that required constant attention supported by cans of Red Bull.
"Plenty of turnbased stuff around, Naltis!" you might say, and you're right, I just never gotten into it, that is, untill recently, i got both MtG, and GoG, and I'm having a blast.
MtG might be frowned upon by hardcore old school real card player as being not true to the original, and thats ok, but who cares, it's a fun game in its own right.
GoG seems to be rather true to the card/board version, I wouldn't know, I dont own the board game, but it's a fun game, it's a challenge, and it's cheap, they just need to implement MP ASAP, the game is screaming for a MultiPlayer option.
Naltis.

There are some mods on slightlymagic with custom decks - they really make this game shine. 72+ decks!

Custom decks you say...? Ear of the Elves is gonna be even more rape.
Also currently running an Infect deck. For Phyrexia!

That Graxia game is ok fun...It crashed on level 5 on the campaign tho.
Are there better games out than Graxia in this turn based card genre?

Magic the Gathering: Duels of the Planeswalkers 2012 is being released on STEAM tomorrow ($10 USD), so I thought this was worth a bump in case anyone was interested.
They revamped the interface, added true co-op (can play co-op via the net and do not have to be on the same PC), and some 3 vs. 1 super AI challenge campaign. Also, you won't be able to make truly custom decks, but you can now take out the base cards (not just the unlocked ones) from a deck if you want to. I still don't think you can tweak how many land cards are in your deck though.
However, they will only have 10 decks at launch (compared to the original's 17), no doubt hoping to nickel and dime us on "expansions". Still, at least the playing field is even, unlike MTGO
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

I wish they would just have a non-ranked version of MTGO with the old interface. You pay the standard cost for a game (whatever that may be) and you have access to all the cards and can play however you want.

Has anyone heard anything about a release for the new version of this game? Came out on steam but I've not seen or heard anything about a release from the usual places.

Really only cards from Alpha/Beta sets are worth tons of money, but any of the cards that are deck archetype staples in Type2/extended could fetch 20$ or so a pop.

I was pretty pissed when I realized I was supposed to buy a new full game. Fuck that.

I preordered it and don't regret it - hell, it's 3 euros less than a COD map pack. Last year I also bought everything available for the first game, just to support them.

Are you implying that this is possible with the new interface? Ever since Lizzard handed over the development to wizard the program has been shit, but I sure would like to have all card available etc =)

Stop complaining. They've worked too hard on their reputation, they can't just go and release games in tip top order.

Agreed. I love Skidrowdies, they are the ones that make updates for most games, it will be sorted out for sure.

Damn Skidrow I'm sick of repack and crackfix. Please, please test your work. Last year was a total fail for you.
Another bug would be the intro video being rendered in black and white (but the original wmv file is in colors).

I think there is nothing 'technically' wrong with this release. The problem is that they included DLC that unlocks all cards and the one that turn cards into flashy foliage. As far as I know there is no way to just disable them.

Using only the skidrow exe+dll and keeping the original steam_api.dll, logging to steam to some account and it seems to work. People have problem saving, and I did too first try but I don't know why but now it worked.
