I would wait a while before downloading as right now we have no way of playing on jb.
We have no access to the debug file needed to play on 3.41 and someone has said that not all of the content is available until you go online and download a patch!
They say 40gb full install
i read that too on the psx forum.. total bullshit, i think. The 10gb install has been confirmed, too. I dont think that they would implement some kind of activating mechanism. Its just not the usual thing to do in the console world. And would be a risky and unpredictable thing to introduce for such a high profile game.
exactly..why people dive into gossip thats not true that "dont make sense" is beyond me. There is no way they are pulling some "steam" type BS in order to play the game..not on consoles where there are millions that own a ps3 without internet access..thats just plain stupid to believe that you gotta have a connection to play a game...for the console platform. We "might" see it next gen but even still..i doubt it.. people seem to want to toss consoles in the same catagory as the pc platform and its just not the same beast.

I think you both misunderstood what I meant.
There is content currently locked in the game. Changing the date or disconnecting/disabling the internet doesn't allow you to access it. It's referred to as online content in the help section (though I don't see why the Museum is included in that, but whatever). The argument that this content is going to be retroactively patched in, as opposed to activated by simply going online once their servers go public is the point of contention. I believe the content is all on the disc, and we are just waiting for the servers to go public and for you to login to GT Online as a form of activation. I'm not sure why you've equated it with a form of DRM.
Oh and some of the better videogame photographers have gotten the game. GRom, you might know from as recently as Forza 3 takes some amazing photos... look at the difference a good photographer makes;
anyone notice that when you transfer over that huge 11gb file it only shows 3.27gb after the transfer? Another guy just mentioned this and i go look a i have the same thing. I wonder if this is a glitch in the managers in handling these large transfers? I believe this is the largest file of any jailbreak game to date.

Just a quick question. Could someone check for language options when they get the game. Currently living in Switzerland and would really play in English.
I bet hacking the PS3 in the first place was harder then to crack this game.
it will be cracked a lot faster then took to "crack" the PS3,mark my word!
from the various minireview im reading (game's fully out only in France, atm) the game itself looks like an updated gt4.
car handling is much improved (thank god)
car physics improved
car collisions NOT improved (NO damage whatsoever, not even from level 20 [dont pull out the story "maybe they didnt find the way to activate it"])
car IA NOT improved (herd is still there, waiting for u to pass it)
graphics is nice but not everywhere :
big jaggies on shadows, inside and outside the car
premium cars quality goes from awesome to decent
non-premium cars quality is like an updated hd version of gt4-gtpsp
some tracks have not good detail (2d crowds etc.)
Overall impressions are good, especially for handling and the impact of the challenge itself (millions of things to do and discover), but those let down remains...
1 big thing can REALLY save the day is multiplayer part... which i cant really read much about all around.
game, atm, is not fail-proof anyway:
damage is atm just VISUAL (maybe an update on day1launch? a big leap of faith...)
nascar damage video :
u can see some visual damage from 2:50.
first placed car seem not in trouble holding it having a damaged rear tyre, and even the big crash afterwards doesnt seem to stop involved cars to go on as before.
well it's kinda built-in photoshop, so unless whole day u will be looking at the pictures this game looks average considering how long it took them to develop it
I only have time to admire the graphics during replays and photo mode anyway so I'd say the graphics are best where it counts.
While racing I'm busy..well..racing. No time to go nitpicking at the graphics.

to me forza3 looks better and it has visual and internal damage, plus no bumper cars
gt5 is just an overhyped turd that took ftw to develop and never really delivered any promises, in other words it's a prologue with more cars and tracks
Loyal GT-fans are special indeed, I think this is the first time I've seen a gamer defend bullshots as being "the thing that counts" while ingame graphics are less important.
Reading the remarks posted by AndreaSpooky, especially that 80% of the cars look like GT4 in higher resolution, I wonder where the $60+ million budget went. Do Sony execs use GT for money laundering?
it all went to prevent jb to play new games, obviously
now they gonna blame piracy just like always, altho a lot of loyal fans will purchase it just coz
win-win
right... maybe you guys want to wait for a review or 20 before dismissing the game as an overhyped piece of shit?
judging a game based on some youtube videos and random comments from random people on a random forum is just a horrible habit.
and what's wrong with graphics beeing less important for me while driving? I'm sorry but it just seems natural to me that while driving I need to concentrate on driving and want the game to run as well as possible. I'm not a graphics whore like so many people these days so maybe that's why.
I'd take more FPS during gameplay over better graphics whenever possible. There's often games that sacrifice FPS for better graphics and that just ends up being annoying and makes me wish that the developers had reduced the graphics quality a bit to allow for smoother gameplay.
That GT5 sacrifices FPS for better quality graphics during replays is a good thing for me as that's the time when my priority shifts from high fps for best gameplay to high graphics quality for enjoyable watching.

yeah, to prevent huge losses like call of duty black ops made due to piracy:
Spoiler:
Call of Duty Black Ops set a five-day record for getting people to part with their money, according to its creators today. $650 million in copies sold around the world in the span of a work week.

There won't be any need to blame anyone, judging from how much money they made by selling the demo this will be a huge success.
Some people even bought a PS3 just for this game.
u ppl missed the point, they will blame doesn't mean they will actually have any financial come back problems or they will say we wanted to sell zillion copies in 6 month considering how much sweat and blood went in to the game
car collisions NOT improved (NO damage whatsoever, not even from level 20 [dont pull out the story "maybe they didnt find the way to activate it"])
Maybe we need to wait and see. Mechanical damage has already been witnessed in earlier demonstrations. A lot of things we thought weren't in the full game has now turned out to be false. Dirt is showing up, so is dislocated damage, GT even has hidden trophies relating to totalling the car and parts falling off. Nobody (that I'm aware of anyway) has gotten far enough in GT Life yet to get into the extreme series. Once you get to a certain level perhaps the more hardcore features unlock? Or maybe as you say there will be a patch to enable some stuff we were told would be in the game.
I personally know the game is going to be awesome *without* damage so I'm probably not as passionate about it as some people. For me the driving physics & graphics of the TT Academy demo alone were enough to sell me on GT5.

You're basing your conclusions on videos of them playing the beginner series, and arcade mode. What I've seen of the AI it *has* improved, just not as big or visible an improvement to get away from the focused criticism. I don't consider that to be a failure as at the end of the day they do their job, and you can't have everything, but I'd still like to actually play it before jumping to conclusions.
...and I can pass the 'herd' as you call it in games like GTR (etc) on the first turn as well.

Jaggy shadows were in GT5p, they will be in GT5. They aren't always there though, it depends on track, car, conditions (etc) - and the game will look better, and jaggies less noticeable, in motion. If you ever get GT5 you'll come to understand and accept them since the overall package is far more arresting than focusing on some minor imperfection.

Such as?

Which racing game has all 3D crowds? You want to priorities crowds over more important elements?
Quote:
Its the photomode which adds fancy post processing shenanigans and renders the image in hires
It takes the visuals from replay mode and increases the resolution of everything and adds impossible amounts of AA. It's still the same model complexity, assets, and aesthetics... there's just less aggressive LOD, and little to no imperfections present. Part of the Gran Turismo experience is taking photos, there are trophies and communities built around it.
I know most of you are just trolling, but the key thing to understand when your focusing on imperfections is that you're not playing the game. When you're playing the game, and you're fighting with the steering wheel to keep the car on the track, buying, upgrading and tweaking cars to get faster times (etc).... the focus of your attention is not on the negatives but on the positives. A game as vast and diverse as GT5 is going to have imperfections.
