They must have pulled them for the time being. They came from Playscope.com.

Here they are reuploaded;

14 gb? that's odd to say the least.

but then, if they do everything in-engine and have (almost) no FMV it's possible.

Still, I expected something much larger along the lines of God of War 3, especially considering they must have insane amounts of really high-res textures in there. ALso the sheer amount of content should increase the size substantially.

Could just be false too...

I'm sure azzman means the race classes such as rally, nascar, gokart, f1. not sure what else is there?

To be fair, GoW3 consists of 20gbs of FMVs and like 7gigs of foreign language files. The net size is much smaller. Since theres only 3 videos here and the rest is ingame. 14gigs is ok, i guess.

Yeah, 14GB is especially strange when you consider the game can install up to 10GB and that 10GB installation can take anywhere up to 50 minutes (depending on how much content you've had installed in the background prior). I assumed this was because of heavy compression. Surprised if it is just 14GB too since why not just fill up the disc with crap for the hell of it Laughing

I think Super GT is another one you can add to the list. Haven't heard much about the license since it was announced but the cars are there.

And here's a video of a standard car, which doesn't look so bad;

i guess we'll find out today! If true, it invalidates the rumor that they recompiled it to make it JB proof. And seeing how Black Ops made like 650million in the first few days, GT5 will do very well. Since the hype level is on par if not higher than codblops, regardless of it being leaked.

Normal game content doesn't require much space at all, the only way to fill a BD is with video files as high bitrates (movies, JRPGs).
Nothing strange about the install though, PS3 installs aren't mandatory because of compression but because of slow BD drive speeds.

Right, which is why I'm surprised a flagship title like this isn't taking advantage of it. They had HD video content in GT5P for each track, so I would have assumed similar treatment in the full game. With that much free space they could go mad.

Actually, it is strange. It's not even a 10GB install, but somewhere around 6.45GB, and can take up to 50 minutes depending on whether you've already had content installed automatically in the background. That's nearly an hour! File operations are bafflingly slow with or without the BD drive, but it's not that slow. For reference I can install GT5p, MGS4, MLB The Show, Everybody's Golf, (and others I'm not remembering) much, much quicker -- around 10/15 minutes, if that -- and their file sizes are all around 5GB so it's not like there exists a vast difference. Seeing as it's apparently 'only' occupying 14GB on the disc I don't believe it to be compression that is slowing things down either.

The only logical explanation is that PD like to keep people waiting Twisted Evil

Quote:

Ah, that would explain why games like Killzone and Uncharted don't even have installs and stream off the disk?

I don't actually have the game yet so I can't say.

I would wait a while before downloading as right now we have no way of playing on jb.
We have no access to the debug file needed to play on 3.41 and someone has said that not all of the content is available until you go online and download a patch!
They say 40gb full install

Where did you get this from? Everything I've read says 10GB maximum, 256MB minimum.

Nobody knows this for sure, it's just that some parts of the game are locked out. It might be you have to wait until their servers go online/public and 'activate' the game?

i read that too on the psx forum.. total bullshit, i think. The 10gb install has been confirmed, too. I dont think that they would implement some kind of activating mechanism. Its just not the usual thing to do in the console world. And would be a risky and unpredictable thing to introduce for such a high profile game.

Yeah too early to say for sure. Im starting to lean on buying this formatting my hdd and keeping ps3 for buying exclusives as I did before the jb!

That's a very good point. Not everyone is online I have mates who don't even have Internet connection. So if there is any truth in the online patch it could/should only be online content.

that DComics 19gb US release is apparently compiled with the 3.50 SDK after all.
People are still not sure what the 6gb smaller EU release is all about and if maybe that was the one that's 3.30, or if someone just pulled that out of his ass.

-edit-

k they're both 3.50. Whoever said the EU was 3.30 just didn't know what he was talking about.

Not surprised its 3.50 I said that a few pages back, can't blame them for delaying and they know it's not an easy work around with the new keys in 3.50.
