|
 |
I was running XBR and used this to upgrade to the latest Kinect dashboard. You'll still need to install dashlaunch 2.05 to get rid of the AP2.5 shit. I have my original nand and found this very easy to do and wanted to share for others who were weary of upgrading. I ignored the part about using flash 360 and I put the completed updflash.bin file in the root of my stick and booted my 360 via the eject button and it did the rest.
Code: | http://digiex.net/guides-reviews/console-guides/xbox-360-guides/7292-easily-update-your-jtagged-xbox-360-kernel-dashboard-12611-fbbuild-0-1-a.html |
Here's their guide on installing dashlaunch 2.05 but i'm still confused on how it installs and what it does exactly:
Code: | http://digiex.net/downloads/download-center-2-0/xbox-360-content/homebrew-jtag-content/7329-dash-launch-2-05-freeboot-12611-no-ap2-5-jtagged-xbox-360s.html |
I haven't gotten around to doing this part yet but as soon as I do I will post more info. For anyone who is like me and preferred the old blade style dash better trust me when I say this is an improvement over the regular NXE dash. It is much more responsive and not as draggy as it has been in the past.

first off, you don't need dashlaunch 2.5 for playing AP2.5 games. never installed it and playing the new NFS just fine without it
second, just google for easy freeboot (preferably the updated one!) and get it + tutorial. nice little program, basically you just have to import your nand.bin, enter cpu key,hit a button and voila!, new updflash.bin ready for use with flash360. fucking idiot proof. it gives a keyvault mismatch message, but if you're sure you did everything correctly, you can just ignore it (which admittedly was quite a shitting-my-pants leap of faith )
third, i don't really see a problem with the kinect or nxe dash...the style is just a matter of taste and it's responsive enough for those times i don't actually spend in freeboot

Dashlaunch 2.05 fixed the unknown disc error for me on AC:B and NFS, so get dashlaunch. No need to replace any default.xex or anything, so this should really be the preferred method for future games.
Also, I just upgraded a friends jtag to 12611 very simply, just got FreeBOOT Toolbox Maker (http://www.bestpig.fr/news-20-freeboot-toolbox-004-maker-v26.html), patched the image with it and flashed it on the xbox again, easy as pie. Then installed the official microsoft 12611 dash to get avatars working again.
Dashlaunch is very easily installed, simply copy over the folder named "install", start the .xex within, let it complete and that's it.

This is just plain wrong. Dashlaunch does way more than autostart things, sure it's its main use, but it also does:
- ping limit patch for system link
- Console Region spoofing
- AP2.5 circumvention
So just install it, it sure won't hurt.
