So I was having this double FPS counter issue with fraps so I uninstalled it. Well it's gone, can't find anything on my HD with it, but the numbers are still showing up in my games Nothing in msconfig, nothing in services.msc, nothing in my unisntall list....no folders in my HD...

An excerpt from another forum of a guy that was having this problem and solved it:
I think I inadvertently figured it out. I installed ATI Tray Tools a while back and after going through all the menus I found an option for "On Screen Display" that was currently enabled. I disabled it and the number is gone from my iTunes and VLC player. I still have to check a game quick to see if it is gone there, but I'm almost 100% sure this fixed it. The ATT counter looks identical to the fraps counter in every way, only slightly smaller, so I never would have known...

Of course this is would be kinda rare and assume you're using ATI Tray Tools.

ROFLMAO!! Dude you're fucking awesome. I've been ripping my hair out for a week trying to figure this out. I was curious as hell when I had fraps installed why it was showing twice. I had this dual monitor program installed for managing multiple wallpapers and thought it was that. Uninstalled everything!
But yes, I use ATI tray tools and that guy is right, the counter is exactly the same as fraps except smaller!
You win 20 internets for finding that.

Hehe the same happens when you install RadeonPro, all these third part programs contain a FPS counter identical to the fraps' one
