If i'm traveling at the speed of light, and I move my hand forward(so it's now c + speed of my hand), what would an outside observer see?

For now ignore the improbabilities of traveling at the speed of light.

im guessing here they would see no different to your already moving body.. if its visible at speed of light that is Very Happy

To an outside observer you would seem frozen still or moving extremely slowly. Your frames of reference are vastly different and your relative experience of time is completely different.

Hard to tell since we don't have a theory for massive particles to travel at the speed of light.
To fap with out beeing seen it might be easier to lock the door in your room.

What if I'm traveling near the speed of light but fapping real fast?

The lock broke Sad

I'm not so sure about that, there would be no friction / resistance to tear you apart. Technically you could just say you would tear planets apart as you force them to move around you Razz

i believe that if you travel with the speed of light you will not have mass
you will be transformed in pure energy

That's a much better phrased concept. However regardless of your speed your mass will not change. Even in a black hole, the entire mass of every object remains the same, it is simply compressed. If the mass was reduced, the gravity field would reduce

yes but you talk for ordinary speeds not speed of light
anyway maybe you know better

light has no mass doesnt not obey to the law of gravity only space time curves light right?

Not at all, Past the Event Horizon of a black hole we are speaking within Speeds of Light, if we were not, Light would be able to escape a black hole, and it would not be a black hole. Once past the Horizon, even at speed of light, the Light cannot escape. So once an object is sucked in, it is moving at speed of light until the singularity. By your idea it loses all mass and would never reach the singularity.

Basically what you are saying that is a black hole would never exist, and you refute the theory.

Edit: While there is nothing wrong with that, it is a fairly rare opinion these days.

I believe whether or not light has mass is still fairly open. First it was particles traveling through the Ether of space, then it was waves and whatever whatever, but you're still making a theory that once you reach the speed of light, you are turned into light. This is why I made the comment "At speed of car, you turn into car". Much of this is unknown, but I am fairly sure no mass loss would occur. Because of the extreme speed you may slightly departicularize , but essential all of the bloody mass would be yours

Anyway...for the original question. In my opinion your hand would not move any faster than the speed of light. It would be similar to trying to jump in an elevator before it crashes, regardless of your jump, you are still moving at (Elevator Speed) when you hit the ground. If you switch your perspective of moving horizontally through space at Speed of light and think of yourself "falling" at speed of light (See: Ender's Game), it kind of makes sense Razz

I think all of the normal rules of physics pretty much go out the window at the speed of light, but you said to ignore it

no i like to believe in black holes

you confused me a bit

i think that by moving with the speed of light maybe you transform in light and you cannot escape from a black hole

i know that light cannot escape from a black hole

also i have read that the speed of light only light and a black hole has (spinning)

If I jumped in an elevator for that split second while I'm jumping I would go at the speed = speed of elevator - jump speed.

If you talk about curvature and spacetime then there is no "law of gravity" since gravity isn't taken to be a force, like in the newtonian theory. Ordinary matter obeys the same rules as light when talking about curvature.
If you define mass to be the invariant mass( m^2 = E^2 - p^2), then you wont be turned in to energy or anything else for that matter.

Yes..but at the speed you are currently moving you would simply regain the speed the you lost with your feeble jump and land right at the speed of the elevator as you crashed. The same can be used for the arm, the body will limit the arms speeds unless you assume the arm continues to move faster than the body after it has been pushed forward, essentially turning the arm and body into an ever expanding situation, where you turn into gumby.

Edit: I say feeble jump because as you are moving down, as soon as you even started a jump moving downward, you would lift off. This is pure speculation, but you would lose any real OOMF and just start to fall again, or hit the ceiling and just hit the ground at elevator speed, a split second after the elevator as you fall from the ceiling.

Your hand would be ripped off your body and travel through the universe since it enters warp speed. This will inevitably signal the Vulcans, which unlike in the movies, will launch a hyper nuke and destroy earth as a preventive measure.

Lol, Mister_S, you did make me think though. One theory is that once you exceed the speed of light you may actually go Time Travel Backwards, you may just tear your arm off in reverse. Of course, then you may never be born with an arm, so you have to use your other arm to do it in the future, and wind up losing your other arm as well Sad

Traveling faster than the speed of light means you are trying to find out the square root of something negative which isn't defined as long as you don't use complex numbers and using those would make no sense in this context.

t = t0/sqrt(1-(v/c)^2)

t = time measured by person not moving
t0 = time measured by person moving at the velocity v
c = speed of light

moving faster than the speed of light would mean that (v/c)^2 >1
=> 1-(v/c)^2 <0

Also
- a particle's mass increases when its velocity increases
- A body of mass curves spacetime (=> gravity)
- When moving at high speeds distances are shorter.

This is all if you believe Einstein's theories of special and general relativity.

If light has mass that mass is infinitely small, otherwise light couldn't travel at the speed of light.

Also when you're moving at the speed of light all distances become 0 but and time stops so you feel like you get everywhere instantly.

That's all the random info on the physics of traveling at velocities close to the speed of light(this all applies to slow speeds as well but the you don't really notice it because (v/c)^2 is such a small number when). Generally all the weird stuff starts happening at around 0.10c
