The exact start of it's developemnt is unknown, the game was in development before Spellbound received the rights for Arcania: Gothic 4, but it was put on hold for a while, so that the team could focus it's atention and resources on ArcaniA. Currently the team is working on RavensDale, the game being considered another AAA project. The release date is planned for 2012.

RavensDale is a fast paced fantasy action game in a very unique “steam powered” setting featuring cool and outrageously over-powered gadgetry. The player will seek out high pressure steam outlets, to supercharge his equipment, allowing him to pulverize his adversaries and overcome the obstacles on his path.

Demo

A short demo for the game is available via WebVision - a product made by Spellbound Entertainment using Trinigy's Software. The game has many similarities with Spellbound's latest release, Arcania: Gothic 4, the game being developed on the same engine - Vision Engine. They also share common gameplay elements, as seen within the demo.

Game will be released for pc and xcrap Very Happy

It looked like the main character of Gothic 4 dressed in a super-heavy mega-looking armor suit. As if some of the design assets of that specific game or a chunk of its world went into the production process of Gothic 4. It has even the same menu at the end of the presentation video.

I thought the same thing, the stuttering is (if possible) even worse than the one in Arcania Laughing

Yes how unique and refreshing, wouldn't you agree? Laughing
Mainstream has become too big and too attractive a target, unfortunately now most people play games, and generally most people don't care for deep gameplay, as they weren't around when it was here and tend to attribute gaming with arcade experiences as found in coinmachines and the consoles of the nineties, or if they're young, with the "nintendo 64"

So for them, better graphics and sound is all thats needed, which leaves all of us who played and loved the games with deep gameplay that existed until Microsoft made gaming mainstream with the Xbox.
And games had to be made for the lowest common denominator as to achieve the largest possible target audience and still being able to play them with a controller.
Arcade gameplay is absolutely perfect for that, as anyone can figure out how to play sidescrollers, platformers or shoot-em-up's.

Who cares about depth, choices and consequences when you can push a button and watch awesome stuff happen on your screen.
And if you're one of the many people who is that easily impressed, then I must really congratulate your parents, because they got one of the very special children, of which theres actually quite a lot in the world.

But if it takes a little bit more than that, then you might not be part of the grey cesspool that tends to spawn these people and I feel sorry for you, as the golden age of pc gaming has passed and we didn't realise we lived in the golden age until it was too late.

You would assume, that future generation would be in worse shape, and, that if graphics get better, gaming would get worse.

But you would think their would come a point, where, the "derps" who are into the "fad" of todays gaming, will literally, get bored of it, and just outright stop gaming.

And eventually gaming, will again have more complexity again.

But, the way I see it, the way Its going, and how ea/activision, and add campaigns, subliminal messages trying to buy their product. Gaming has become another mainstream piece of shit of pop culture like music/movies/literature. You have to dig through huge amounts of turd shit to find anything good.

Even FPS games, the most popular genre is dead. Games today, such as, black ops, is the retarted inbred step child compared to Counter Strike.

Halo same thing, Compared to UT - Quake death match games.

All games today lack complexity, lack depth, and lack a true need for actual skill, controller, or keyboard and mouse.

And the most depressing part is that we must consider ourself rather lucky if games like Divinity II, New Vegas and Two Worlds 2 are still made. In a recent future RPGs as we know them and games that involve the use of brain will permanently cease to exist: it's not hard to figure out where the gaming industry is channeling its resources, and the Kinect/PSMove stuff is right there to prove it.

It's not only the gaming industry any more that's being shat on. Cinema and TV are being channeled through the same tunnel. Extreme retardation and severe stupidity have embraced the earth in one devilish grasp. Smart people die in an never-ending rate as opposed to more and more idiotic creatures being born. And the sad part is that there's no escape and never will be.

Now I remember, that debug menu shown in the movie preview in the first post is the same one that can be enabled in Arcania, must be the same game engine. Smile
(Well it's not a bad engine.)

EDIT: Oh, it is the same engine.

Seems like Black Forest is making game with this name , but its something completely different

Quote:
Black Forest Games, the developers of Giana Sisters:Twisted Dreams, have sent word of their next game, Ravensdale, which provides the world with a four player co-op action side-scroller, all set within a “medieval oil rig city”. Co-op is very much the focus, as they explain: “Gameplay-wise, Ravensdale is gunning for a true co-op experience, with weapon choices, environment, enemies and positioning all blending together to dynamically create exciting situations that reward cooperative play. For example, repeatedly slamming that orc raider into a wall works just fine, but if you punt him to your buddy below, he’ll blast the orc into the incinerator behind him and you can go to town on the goblins trying to ambush him from the skies.” The game is still deep in the throes of development, but will be heading to Kickstarter before long, too.
