Bioshock and Fallout 3, just the top of my head...

Edit:
Splinter Cell: Conviction, Battlefield: Bad Company, CoD: Modern Warfare 2.

Ironically I enjoyed both Bioshock and Fallout 3. True, Bioshock wasn't even close to carry the mantle from System Shock 2 but it was a very atmospheric shooter in a very nice setting. I never got into Fallout 1 & 2 for some reason but Fallout 3 and now New Vegas rocks. Smile

But thanks to them having to pass certification, it won't have any bugs Smile

I'll be skipping this. First stalker was a nightmare. Clear sky was no better. Each had so many game breaking bugs at release, and for months after release that they'll never get my money again, ever.

I've never understood why anyone would play such complex games at release anyways? Ok if someone is a complete n00b or just very naive and dont understand how it usualy works then i can understand. You'll learn after a while..

I waited like 1.5 years before i played STALKER, and the game was just incredible patched and modded.. I'm doing the same with New Vegas (also complex and ofcourse, buggy and in need of mods.), gonna be great with all the mods and fully patched Smile

I've played games far more complex then stalker at release, and they weren't ANYWHERE near as broken, and I mean, literally, broken like stalker was at release.

Shit, the first stalker wasn't even fixed until 3rd party modders came out and fixed all the horrible game breaking bugs.

I had hoped they wouldn't pull the same shit when Clear Sky released - But they did. So fuck em'. I'm not buying their games anymore.

Even Fallout 3 at release was far more bug free then stalker was, and that game was huge, and it definatly had it's own fair share of bad bugs.

You just don't realize how bad stalker was at release, and how bad it -still- is without the 'complete' mod.

CoP was pretty much bug free when it it was released, though.
So maybe they've learned their lesson... maybe.

I'm sure there are more complex games, probably with better funding and done in a more realistic time frame (depending on the devs skills). I mainly read the forum posts and play the pirate copy at release, if i find it unsatisfactory i just wait. Lots and lots of other games to play while waiting to get a much better experience (instead of ruining it with a broken game).

These devs are getting better though, STALKER SoC was (i think?) their first big game so no wonder it wasnt perfect, these sort of fairly open-world and unlinear games are also more difficult to create than the usual FPS crap. Its the same with games like ARMA2 etc.. Very difficult to get it right at release, much better to wait 1-2 years and then play..

STALKER 2 will probably be less complex and more linear :/ even though i think they've stated it's not going to be the case i believe it when i see it..

Nobody's going to lift a finger to help you, nobody is going to do more for you than being passably polite. You want games that are good, make them yourself or stfu. That is why I hate the attitude of this board. It's one of the best, most informative pc game boards on the net but everybody here just shits all over everything, before even 1 screenshot is released, as if the world owes them something. I hate to use American rhetoric but it describes so perfectly how I feel. You're a bunch of whiners and you make the world more unpleasant for those of us actually trying to change things.

Even mchart has decent points and bases his actions off history, some people like you, leo and sabin will truely and utterly shit on something as soon as it's annouced without a scrap of evidence. It makes this board a horrible place to be. So I hope you understand why I am rage enough to stab you in your sleep. You are a douche. I know lutz is gonna ban me for this but I don't care, there's no point contributing here.

The sense of hate that arises everytime a PC title sees a multiplatform sequel is understandable and based on valid precedents, though it's wise to wait a bit more and see what the future has in store for us.

In any case, I have to be honest: I don't expect anything good from this transition since very probably the game will suffer from a major simplification and linearization that will affect both the gameplay (more guided

structure, less recoil, easier gunfights, simplified inventory) and the overall experience.

Uh, far as I'm concerned *nothing* good has ever come from a pc game going multi-playform. Which makes this a shame, since the Stalker series was one I really liked. Now the best we can hope for is that it stays pretty much the same(i.e. no improvements, but not any dumbing down either), but in all likelihood it will see simplifications and 'measures taken to ensure accessability' like all other titles going multiplatform.

Sucks to be you.

CoP was my first stalker game, and it was amazing. Then I decided to try out the first one, with the complete mod. I was seriously blown away.

Yeah, what the fuck, guys? Why are you speaking up against your gods, game developers, you lowly peasants?! You're not worth squat you god damn vermin!

You better buy every game they release and not talk bad about anything from now on. Get ready for Ass Effect: Spread 'em and S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2(Spread That Ass Like Keanu Effing Reeves 2)

Anyway, ignoring that. Indeed we have to wait for gameplay but what game has seriously been even a shell of the former games once it went multiplatform? I can't seriously remember a single one.

It depends on how the muilt-platform games are made
If it's done the old way, PC focussed with a later console port with parts cut/altered to fit the limitations, then it's all good
If it's done the current way, 360 focussed with a few gfx enhancements for pc, cumbersome UI, simplified, etc then it will probably be complete ass

Worst case scenario is STALKER 2 becoming a lame, action/adventure FPS aimed at the XBOX kiddies, I don't see it happening but we all know it's very possible

CoP was pretty much bug free for me
SoC had a few but none that were "game breaking" although I did read a few horror stories
Loved both of them but never tried Clear Sky because the faction thing never interested me
I need to try out those Complete mods at some point, they look pretty special

Ok, people here bitch about the franchise going multiplatform. But where did they get that from?

As far as I can remember, the devs only said that they don't dismiss the idea, not a single word of concrete confirmation. Any links where they state it as fact and without a shadow of a doubt that it will come out on consoles too?

There are interviews and official statements, takes a second to google that.

Here's one

"A completely new multi-platform technology developed by GSC will make the core of the game." (from http://www.gsc-game.com/)

not the best statement i guess, since it doesnt say right out that its for multi-platform, just the tech.. cant remember where i read the interview with one of the devs who was claiming PC users was still cared for and that the game still would be like the old ones. maybe im mixing it up with Deus Ex 3 lol

Multiplatform technology=/=multiplatform game. My point still holds. For all we know they can go the Sims way and make separate games for Pc and consoles, or simply making the engine marketable.
