So why do the those stunts at all? Or was is supposed to be an accident? I mean she was doing fine with the whole Laura routine... I mean what was her plan? Was her plan to be causing havoc with the experiments? What was the purpose of the whole thing?
and that's another thing... I don't know what's Laura and whats Alice. I know the messages in the isolation machine are Laura, the words thingy. But is Sam sighting Laura or Alice? I still don't understand what she did, and how she did it... I mean you go into the tower and find a chair, so what was she sitting there doing magic? We never also get told the extent of Alice's power. Except the electricity and fire things.
On another note, i kinda thought the first assistant wasn't important, since Laura wanted Sam to come, to help David sort his shit out. But then i got thinking she must have gone home and told someone she didn't take the job. So either it's a plot hole, or she's dead somewhere. I thought the house was haunted by Laura only. Hell maybe it was even Alice than scared her off, cuz she didn't want anyone interfering with her plan...
But by the rate adventure games come out, we will know in about 10 years...Maybe... |

Spoiler: | The things that happened in the pool, gym and dinning hall happened by accident and are a reflection of the items in Angela's father picture. The tie had a maze design on it, like the tracks accident, also it has this black rectangle on top like the weights pyramid....at least that's what was shown when Sam realized it was Angela.
As for Angela, I guess she was stalking David in the tower, maybe in her sick mind trying to become Laura and get the same attention from him that Laura got...so, maybe the shower scene and the brush floating that the old lady saw and the dress disappearance and the bed shape, are all things that happened while she was dreaming/obsessing about David...frankly the more I think about it the less clear it becomes
I think there are only three clear Laura appearances...the letters, the lake and the chamber when she told him about the cars. As for the first assistance, I'm quite sure the intro showed her actually getting out of the car, ringing the door bell, saying I'm the new assistant and then some shadow attacked her from behind...but I uninstalled already so I can't check. |

7 is pretty short.
Spoiler: | Talk to the housekeeper? Did you find all 4 "anomalies" in David's lab computer? And don't forget to pick up and manipulate the brain scan charts. And take a note of that random letter/number generator too. |

Wow, what a great game. Got to buy it just because of a faint hope that there will be a sequel.
In the mirror room, choose those that show the pedestal to be farther away, as hinted on the painting.

Really a great game and a must for all adventure fans. Great mature story, excellent voice acting and stunning backgrounds. Puzzles exactly fit my attention span but character animations are very average. And the humour is nice... Windy Dog... The DoDo Egg...

xxax wrote: | KGen wrote: | xxax wrote: | Ok some thoughts on the ending...
Spoiler: | I'm a tad disappointed, especially with the pacing... Till around chapter 6 everything is great, the story is unraveling at a good pace, but then everything just happens in a flash. Ok the guy in the shop is the culprit, no he isn't, it's Alice. What shall we do? We must help her, David forgets about the fact she killed his wife in a heartbeat (althou he's been bitching about it for all this time) and she kills herself. It's just too fast, we spend 6 chapters watching David relive his memories, only to have the conclusion drawn in 2 minutes. An extra chapter or two would really help...
Also what was the purpose of killing his wife? Revenge for not taking the time to help her? Jealousy? If she wanted help for her "super-powers" she should have known people weren't going to believe her right of the bat...
Also is the house haunted by Laura? Apparently yes since the word thingy wrote IMPOSTOR...
Also i don't get the Bride of Frankenstein... I am assuming since in the background there's the sign where Sam takes a wrong turn and she is carrying the book Frankenstein that a new game will feature someone getting lost in a similar manner reading Bride of Frankenstein? Maybe a guy? But since this game came out after a million years i doubt we'll know anytime soon.
|
|
Spoiler: | Yeah, the pacing was off at the end, but I guess the investigation part was over when Sam realized it was Angela. David might as well have an academic interest in Angela so he doesn't want her to die, except that, she looks half crazy and mentally ill, it's hard to believe she is a cold blooded killer deserving death. Laura did haunt David because she couldn't pass on knowing (somehow) about the accident and Angela...so she tried to communicate and help him. At least, it could be explained that way
As for the bride, I'm at loss myself...was it just lucky wind that turned the signs at the road at the intro or was it something else? Even after accidentally getting to the house, what happened to the original assistant? ...
|

Spoiler: | I Think that the mannifestitations of Laura ( on the 2 times that David remember her),were actually the real laura trying to help him. But, the manifestation on the house, on the mirror, etc that´s were Alice. |

Only got to Chapter 2 but amazing game so far, just amazing...compared to stuff like Still Life and Secret Files that I played recently this is on a whole new level and the voice acting doesn't make me wanna kill someone. Great music and backgrounds too.

Currently on Chapter 6 and have to agree, great adventure game all round. I like the use and style of the cut scenes, reminded me of the Thief games in a way.

Well I finished the game and it was great, however, the only two times I had to look for tips was for the rebuses, man I simply couldn't figure out what the hell they were supposed to mean. And when I got the answers I couldn't even reverse engineer how you were supposed to come up with that with the rebuses. Were they supposed to be used for that at all or?

Spoiler: | They are pretty easy, as far as you know what a rebus is. If there is a picture, let's say a bone then you write down "bone", if it's -b then you delete the b and you have "one" left. if it's +ph you add "ph" but not necessarily after the word, it can be before...so we have ph+one=phone" Simple, eh...in any case, the first one is stupid because they fucking drew the phone booth on it....what's the point then? The second one is okay, but predictable. The whole game is unfortunately way too easy, but thankfully everything else is good. |

Spoiler: | Oh ok I thought their purpose was something else entirely which is why it wasn't making any sense to me. I essentially thought, with how easy the locations were to find, that the rebuses were supposed to give you the answer as to what you should..err..dial, because both times I found the locations before I even looked at the rebuses. But yeah you're right it is simple now that I looked at it again. |

Well, I'll be fucked! Had time to play this finally today, and I'm hooked, at the 7th chapter, and I'll say, aside from some really out there conversation of Styles with the guy who built the RNG, this game's story is epic. The puzzles are too easy, if you ask me, but the atmosphere is epic. Starts off a bit slow, but man, I just wish it never ended right about now!
If you're any sort of PC gamer, if you even have an ounce of self respect, then buy this! I know I will first thing tomorrow!
