Why I'm like lvl 15 and I have only 1 or 2 magic spells?

That firebolt/ball thing and the explosion spell that sucks... (and of course the same spells on different elements )

I'm missing something or there are no cards with different spells? Laughing
(And I'm not talking about using 3 fireballs instead of 1 and stuff like that, I want something different, like Firewall or a fireshield idk)

Anyone playing archer? Got a problem. Just bought and learnt Poison arrow skill, but I got only 3 skills on my bar - cold, multi and fire arrow. How to put the poison arrow on the skill bar? Or is it passive?

I'm still there at 12 hours or so into the game, level 28 currently and still a few places left to explore and a variety of quests, I don't find it bad looking though the savanna part of it might look a bit bland.
(The cities are quite a different story as is the other locations, getting close to progressing to the next area but there's still more to do before I choose to continue.)

someone at the official forums says he finished it at level 41 and only 20 hours in.. sounds quite disapointing. have you visited the largest island? seems like the game is quite empty except for the first region, if he's not trolling..

That guy who said he finished the game in 20h should stop playing games. He didn't even enjoyed the game, and i bet he likes FPS games more then RPGs.

Seriously, finishing the game in only 20h is stupid when you have a map like this. There's so much to explore and enjoy.

Right. You couldve finished Fallout3 in 7-8 hours too if you wanted to. Doing so would of course rob you of the fun experience the other 50 hours of sidequesting and exploring offered you.

its disturbing that he claims that the rest of the game world is very empty though, and would suck if its true that the mobs are so low level they didnt give him any xp..

I confronted him and told him to post a screenshot of his map and questlog Wink we'll see what he do.

With all those RPGs coming out it's been hard for me to keep track of what is worth playing...
Can someone fill me in on this one? I am more interested in games like that if it has an engaging story and some decent character interaction in it, so how does this one fare in that regard?

Also, this was probably asked numerous times before, but is it necessary to play the first game, or this one stands well enough on its own?

I guess this is more for people who enjoy exploring/combat.. but i havent been that disapointed in the quests either, nothing out of the ordinary though.

I never played the first game (didnt like it at all), you get the occasional moment where you see that they might be referencing some things from the past game. But nothing really immersion-breaking.

I really like the silky smooth graphics, despite my moderate PC. Concerning characters and such, at least in the german version, the dialogues are well written and sometimes really rough (in a good sense). You realize that its written for adults.

Im not that far into the game yet, so i cant really say anything about the story.

What sucks is the Horseback-Riding mechanic, its kinda broken in my opinion. But thanks to a good travelling system, you wont need to ride most of the time.

This is hard to explain but say a Fire effect combined with a missile type basis creates a fire bolt, add a timer modifier and other changers like say a homing or ricochet modifier and you have something resembling a fireball, alter the effect to a summon type and you summon a fire based creature or change it to necro and summon a undead type creature, change it to say a ice effect again with a personal base effect and you get a lock pick spell or maybe a debuff spell or telekinesis spell, swap it to a missile and change it from harmful to helpful and you get a healing spell or push spell (For others though.) and so on for several thousand possible combinations. Smile
(Even if it's just the basics such as fire, water, earth, air and spirit plus necro but it's in how you combine them and there are variations to it plus that you can stack spells and effects as you level up and create some really powerful stuff.)

EDIT: And visit mage NPC's to buy new cards and frames to hold them for different sets and more effects / greater stacks.

Read the spell fighting book they gave you at the start it gives some clue as how spell making works. you can have a card do multiple things, you probably haven't notice that you can open a spell and scroll down to select a couple more cards for a secondary effect.

its easy to kill guards in one-on-one with a sword, without adding notoriety even, if you're indoor. They'll just flinch and die at some point. Sadly, it seems to be completely useless. They drop weapons meant for twice my current level (my level being 13), almost no money and no armor. You dont even get awarded exp. Sad

Thanks JB and xjuanm
Will see what can I do now.

And I believe I don't have that spell book... don't know why, I have a lot of books
I'll try to combine stuff, I think my problem was that I didn't know I was able to scroll down to add more effects, I don't know.
I have some cards, but I was only able to split a firebolt into three bolts... which consumes half my mana and sucks, and I'm bored of killing wild animals with firebolts already Laughing

Ugh, can't seem to use Radial Barrage with the new 2h sword and mace I found - instead of it showing on 1 or 2 button, I get the weapon-specific skills that I don't even have.

Some stuff looks better without HDR and some looks better with HDR...

If you want to create a proper fireball spell, first create a firebolt spell(i.e. fire card with range modifier and damage effect, possibly also homing effect), then scroll down and add another fire card( or ice, necromancy, etc.) with damage modifier and area effect. This will make the area effect trigger upon impact. There are countless combinations and cool things. The mana cost will rise rapidly though, having maxed the skill that lowers mana cost, and the one that increases mana recharge, is a must for a mage.

you must have a special version then.Smile The gamma correction of the gamma is tied to that option. You can try the ingame gamma correction, lowering or increasing it doesnt do anything.

Use the following command for deactivating the paralax-mapping (to use antisoptic filtering)

Engine.ParalaxOnTerrain 0

Then you can use AF so that the textures are still sharp.

AF and paralax-mapping dont work together!

Example for Engine.ParalaxOnTerrain 0

Yeah just noticed. That sucks tho, if the player isn't allowed to influence the hotbar in any way the system should be robust enough to realize to put the skills with actual skill points invested into them in the main setup instead of behind the block key. Now the 1 and 2 keys are useless to me - I've no plans on putting any points into the weapon-specific skills since I switch constantly anyway.

Another shortcoming of the UI - along with not being able to sell/buy without the idiotic confirmation screen or buy multiple items at once.

You can disable that confirmation in Options/Interface. Though this also removes the summary before the upgrading and disassembling of items
