Melee is so underpowered at start its not even funny. How many times can I use a bow and arrow to kill a warthog in seconds, but when I have to kill it with melee it just runs away. The horrible animation and attack motion isnt helping me much. Youve got no way to defend versus 2 fast moving circling enemies in melee, while this is supposed to be the weakness of casters and archers. Its really pissing me off.

Nearly done with the first chapter, still six - eight hours left until I've done everything though, nearly at level 30 now with a lot of stuff completed and rather advanced guild standings, will be interesting to see how it continues from here but it's not over yet. Smile

More images.

I have a feeling it's not really detailed or textured at all though (Rating problems and all that.) and it's a rather optional path, game does allow some freedom in how you handle quests though it doesn't seem like you can actually "fail" explicitly, just get a different outcome.

Story and subplots for the various factions is a bit vague so far but surfaces now and then and remains interesting and worth pursuing, still don't see how any of this will help my character in the long run though but it'll probably clear up later on.

I'm loving this game so far Razz

The world is really huge, the plot seems definitely decent, there are interesting characters and also the visuals are rather impressive Smile
Not to mention the fact that the engine is very well optimized!

You CAN defend against multiple enemies at the same time in melee. Use space bar and he backs up and swings weapon. If you are dual wielding he'll swing both and hit both enemies at the same time which can't be done when attacking.

Maybe stupid question but why the hell does my GPU temp go to 70 celcius?
Fans blowin at full power. Fallout NV was on max settings and GPU-fan was quiet.
I have the game on max 1920*1200. Maybe there is a setting I could lower?

What setting is usually making the GPU work hard?, shadows, AA or bloom effects?

Shadows and AA are generally the most demanding features.

Agreed, the game is driving my GPU hard and the fan is loud. Even in the inventory screens it is not throttling the GPU down. It's rather frustrating. It's optimized for performance while playing, sure, but it is not intelligently throttling down GPU usage when it's not needed.

Heh... oopsy. The game IS pretty demanding, so it was kicking my card into overdrive. I just checked and the card was at 79c (manual fan control at 30%) I think it's time to turn the fan up a little Razz

Do you need to push some button for that? I kill the enemies pretty fast with my lance (kinda weird that it has superior stats in all yet lower req's than a 2h katana), but when I ride they just seem to take damage from the horse.

LOVING the loot in this game

The ONLY complaint about the loot is this: (and is most likely due to not understanding the craft system fully)

I'm a mage, so I only use staffs.....so I disassemble all swords/axes/halbreeds and such that I come across.....although I don't think I can use any of the parts to upgrade my cloak/staff.

Wouldn't I be better off just selling the stuff?

Which leads to my other point. I LOVE THE MONETARY SYSTEM. I love the fact that merchants goods are random, and that a spell book or spell card that I may need/want is REALLY expensive, meaning I can't OP my character in a quick manner.

EDIT: Also LOVE the way that I can't jump onto a high point (rock/building) as I use to in Gothic and Oblivion to kill enemies (bow/spells) and remain untouchable. The AI usually always finds a way to get to me (the rocks/mountains have slopes that allow the AI to get to where you got to....if that makes sense)

Whii, finally got my RE too. First I was like "I didn't get the map" but it was hidden in the case Smile So anyone with the basic boxed copy, is there a map too?

And question to all the RE owners, what picture you have in the MAC version card? I see Epsilon ( http://www.abload.de/image.php?img=dsc01449zgkw.jpg ) has different image on it, I have the sister Kyra picture that is open in the art book.

Damn...I must be the only member who hasn't go his RE yet...bah.... Sad

You'll always have to deal with the choice "disassemble or sell" -- but you CAN use the materials you get from disassembling, especially wood and leather.

The arena was quite meh except the last one (finished all other witout dying, and with melee which isnt what i have invested my points in) :/ overall the game is way too easy on medium. It's also a very linear game so far, it changes later on im sure but imo it should have opened up a lot quicker imo, closer to 1-2 hour in and not 15-20h (or whenever you're finished in the first region, it seems quite big).

Sorry, dumb question....

So I've got the greenish teleport stone and it works GREAT.....BUT....what are all of these other ones I'm finding?

If I recall correctly, the 1st game had these as well, and you could drop them anywhere and come back to them (kinda like a teleport scroll in D2) but doesn't seem to cooperate very well (was pretty drunk when messing with it last night)

If some of you guys are still having the "does not provide the required level of access" error.
I got it solved by I think either 2 things :

1 = just generate enough times and 1 will work (the 4th one worked for me).
or
2 = run the rld tool "as administrator" as I'm using W7 with UAC.

It could've been either one as I got the 4th one after starting the tool "as administrator" Smile
But it does work !

Have fun, needed more convincing before I buy this one.

About the game's economy - it's nice yeah, but the price drop for similar items after selling one is a tad annoying. And the fact that the vendors give you only ~10% of what they'll charge you for that item. Some barter skill would've been a nice addition.

Fuck, another stupid question (at work currently)

I needed some money last night, so I sold ALL the books in my inventory that the game would let me sell.....(books are worth a ton at the beginning of the game)

Is there a downside to not having these books in your inventory? Meaning, if the game thinks it is safe for you to sell them....it should be safe to sell correct? I don't think it will allow you to sell books that unlock skills.....

You can sell the skill books too, a few books are needed for quests but you can't really get them until you actually have the quest so you should be fine. They're all weightless though so the spell system, alchemy and such books could be good to keep as a reminder, but not really necessary. Lore books are just there to be read and then sold.

And I assume that when I sell a skillbook I don't lose the skill ability correct?
