So it's ok to be released and we're just waiting for a group to pick it up?

I guess so, though they'd still need to pre-decrypt the DLC files so that online authentication isn't needed. I guess it's a low priority right now since everything in UE is already out and cracked.

Does the DLC make the game any better?
I found the game fairly dull and enjoyed the pre-release flash game far more than the actual game itself
Plus I was getting my ass kicked regularly due to my screwed up warrior build, which didn't help

None of the DLC are very good. Items are pointless and the "story" based DLC are just tunnel grinding bullshit that bring nothing new. If you found the game already dull, don't put yourself through it.

I, on the other hand, think the DLC and expansions are incredible and add a LOT to an already brilliant game. Definitely worth playing at least the expanded content outside of the main game (eg; Return to Ostagar, Leliana's Song, Darkspawn Chronicles, Witch Hunt and Golems of Amgarrak) Personally I'm about to play through the ENTIRE game again =)

If you found the main game boring, the DLC won't change your opinion. I massively enjoyed the whole Dragon Age game, although Awakening was less impressive, as was some of the DLC.
To screw up a build that the game gets nearly unplayable is hard, but on the other hand it's nice to see a game where this is even possible, unlike with Mass Effect 2, for example, where it does not matter at all on which skills you spend your points. Learn from it, start anew, and enjoy the game.

Can anyone confirm if Theta release works out of the box (no need for authorisation, decrypting, internet connection etc)?

You probably played at release date. They nerfed normal and easy difficulties in the first patch, because people were complaining the game was hard.

From what I heard at some sites, it does work like that.
There is also a command-line file for manual authorization of DLCs, for a case if you want to play it under a different user. All the content remains in the main game dir though.

the "stone prisoner" and some other DLCs are really awesome. Some is only "ok", but still worth it imho

Oh, Stone Prisoner was actually good, it adds by far the best character to the game. I always forget that was DLC (but it really wasn't). Also Awakening was decent, though that was an expansion and not DLC either.
But otherwise I still think the other ones aren't very good, and only extend the pain if you already find the game dull.

yeah, i can very well imagine that.
All the DLCs that were only items for the different special editions are nice though, as they make the starting game a little easier.
The other DLC i highly enjoyed was the "wardenÄs keep" i think, or whatever it was called. The one with the old warden's castle that needs to be cleared out. Imho both that and the stone prisoner should have been in the original game.
But i enjoyed the other DLCs as well, because i didnt really find DA dull to begin with (but i understand why it felt limited and boring to some)

Decided to replay DAO, but I am unsure whether to install patches (+ The Stone Prisoner, Warden's Keep and maybe Return to Ostagar DLC). So I wanna check with you guys before I patch the game, does it alter Nightmare difficulty?

I know one of the patches altered difficulty, but I think it was only on normal or easy. A mod might be a good idea if you want to play a good Nightmare run.

So, I was 8 hours into the expansion campaign when I entered the Silverite Mines.....
Spoiler: | There's a magical little bug that causes the last mob that has taken your equipment, equipment that was by and large carried over from the 60 hour main campaign, not to spawn. Unless you have a manual save BEFORE you enter and are stripped of your gear, you are fucked. 8 hours of progress lost, and forced to restart the expansion again if I don't want to lose all my hard earned armor/jewelery (absolute necessity as my main was the tank).
|
To add insult to injury, there are threads on this bug from 9 MONTHS AGO. A major, potentially campaign ending bug, that they haven't even ATTEMPTED to address. Fuck you Bioware. Or should I say EA? Unfuckingfathomable.
To those that didn't read the spoiler - make a manual save before you enter the Silverite Mines. Trust me.
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

Actually if you read the last patch notes they supposedly did attempt to address it, but seemingly either Sony or MS blocked it in certification, so they removed it from all versions of the patch (including PC) out of some bullshit misguided "patch parity" policy.
If you want a fix for it, grab this mod - http://dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1762 You still need a prior save unfortunately, but at least it should stop it happening again.

There's no "good" or "evil" to choose from as such, or at there least is no morality meter to tell you as such, like in KOTOR or Mass Effect. The only real morality-related consequence is the various praise/bitching of your companions based on how your decisions fit in with their view of the world. As such, the only "punishment" comes in the form of potential influence loss with certain characters if they are present during certain decisions. This can ultimately lead to them leaving the party, violently in some instances. Gain enough influence with a character though and you can often mitigate influence loss through an additional dialogue option. In the case of Alistair and Leliana, you can also "harden" them through certain dialogue choices that come up after completing their personal quests, which factor into their reactions to certain choices.
