A lot of people here say no but anyone of you who has/are playing WoW for 6+ months have in fact paid 80$ or more for a game.
That's valid for all the other MMO and other games with monthly fees.

Those monthly payments are for upkeep of servers and constant updates of content. There's quite a difference between an MMO and a regular SP game.

I don't disagree but you still pay for a game , server maintenance or not.
At least that's how i see it

You're right, those are payments however it gets twisted and turned, however I believe that those payments are somewhat justified. ^_^

I'm a bit of a sim junkie (simulation, not The Sims games) and would probably dish out $100 for a highly detailed sim of something that interests me. For a regular game like a Baldur's Gate or something, no.

Contributing once more for this thread...
If I had to choose a game which I would pay 100€ for, it would be the Europa Universalis 3 series. I've played this for more than 200-300 hours, easily. Quite possible that I might be in 1000 hours already (I've no real clue, but I've played this game from year 1399 to 1821 with dozens of countries and each game takes me often at least a week of heavy gaming to complete (72h+), and also tens if not over hundred of games played for a couple of centuries).
And tbh, now with the upcoming expansion, the total price for the series is going to be at the 80-100€ range already. Especially if you bought the games at the release.

How do I know it's going to be like Baldur's Gate 2 unless I play it? To appreciate a game like that you can't just read reviews or watch videos, unless you want to spoil the entire game before you even play it. So I'm going to pay $100 just because the developers said it was a "deep, long and original" game during promotional interviews and commercials?
Every developer claims their games are awesome. Every game that is priced at the standard rate now has somehow managed to justify charging that much. What makes you think they're going to start being honest when $100 per copy is at stake?
Your pricing system (pricing games based on subjective quality), if you're implying that it should be an industry standard, is not going to work because it would require:
1. some kind of universal standard judging ALL games, which is not only unfair but entirely unfit to measure something like quality over technical quantity
2. game developers actually be honest about how "good" they think their games are compared to their competitors
In a fantasy world, maybe. But not this one.

not for a pc game but I have in total probably spent that much on halo3 with all the map packs and such
Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one

Only Steel Beasts was ever released by the scene. Like sabin said, the latest one uses a HW dongle.

hey i am sim fan too
would you give 59 dollars for dcs? i wont speciffically for all dcs series
but i would give 100 bucks or euros for fighterops but if will ever finished
i wait 7 years for fighterops and nothing for f-16 expansion i would be 45 so
open falcon and the upcoming bms 4 is the deal also seven- g
from a lot more promising team than fighterops with real evidence not bollocs as the dear english would said
fighterops is like the duke nukem fraud
we must support teams that are deserved to be supported, fighterops has taken money
for the aliens in area 51 that they have only for some pics and videos as they claim
this is not honesty, also dcs seems that needs money

I put thousands of hours in Heroes of Newerth (dota clone).
- The Devs provide the servers, no delay at all.
- Replay system is great, every replay is hosted on their servers too, downloadable ingame.
- constant updates till the worlds ends.
- they are tanking the most idiotic community ever.
And they are asking just 30 dollars (22-24 euros)... They are fucking crazy. Would have gladly paid 100 dollars for this game, especially considering the fact that I already played for almost a thousand BETA hours before retail.

I would pay a hundred bucks for Homeworld 3 or Mechwarrior V.. especially if I could use my Steel Battalion controller with it!

Pretty soon? The value of money now is worth as much as the toilet paper U wipe your ass with.
