That's EXACTLY the case. It doesn't matter if you preordered it and get the game in the mail three days early. You aren't playing it until the release date.

Is there any advantage/disadvantage of buying the game in a DVD from a store here instead of buying it from D2D?

Well, when it will crack everywhere say 9 - Nov. 8 ..! strange that now prevents crackers to hack the game .. Russian version of the game COD 7 is already posted on the internet! : D

So the protection is steam right, since it will probably be like MW2 you cna ONLY play the game on the release date since the DVD only contain around 50-90% of the needed files, or maybe more.
Rest of the files will be unlocked through either steam or Activision servers.
No need to bitch about it sucks since you will at the end get it for free, i've already preordered it so, shortly i have to pay to play since i have all the other cod games this is a must.
So just wait and be patient for a crack.
And regarding D2D, many people had problems with MW2 from D2D and other games if i remember correctly so it's a better idea to buy the dvd. works much faster on the installation too depending on cpu and ram ofc.
If you'll try to be smarter, i'll try to be nicer!
It's better to take some time with your life, instead of taking your life because of some time!

What kind problems?
The thing is that here it costs 15$ more than D2D, and I'm not too eager to play the game at 00:00 of 9/11 so even if its slower I dont mind..

I mostly do not like to wait until the game hack! ..
I do not want to pay money .. better to have free play!
After all, money should be spent on smart .. rather than on what the games hit hard!

i rather use g2play legit cdkey/serial, better price and it takes just a moment to receive the key. if not, just mail them and they will handle it faster if possible.
Regarding D2D, i've heard many had problem with games not working correctly, serials not working, and other problems so i will never use them.

buy the dvd, you'll sell the box and dvd to a noob next year to buy COD8 while keeping the game on steam

It depends on your wallet, no way i was gonna pay 60 bucks again for a cod game. I bought it at cdkeyshere.com for 25.
