Purified water shouldn't be that easy to find, irradiated food and water should have the radiation effect while they're active (not just +2 rad when you eat it, although I don't know if this is the case with Dirty Water).
Sleep should have a much stronger role than food, I mean if you spent 8-10 hours running/fighting around in the wasteland then you should be tired like hell at the end of the day. And that just doesn't happen here, I think I spent around 36-48 hours max in game without sleeping and the sleep counter didn't even hit the first level.
Bottom line, hardcore mode should be "hardcore" and Obsidian's version is far from it.
But it's better than nothing, I'll give you that.

God dammit. I had this long drawn out conversation with chauncy, went to search him, and it crashed on search. Restarted, went to meet him again to have the long conversation and it locked up as soon as I tried to talk to him.
It's now locked 3 times and locks when I try to talk to anyone else in the bath house. I even tried an earlier save.
and now it turns out 2 files in the cache failed to validate and its going to redownload. At the looks of the progress vs speed, they're big files too. Fuck.
I had a busy week, was looking forward to spending the evening playing this.

Hardcore mode was more inconvenient than hardcore. I turned it off after an hour.

Ammo has weight but you can get around that by breaking it down, since the components are weightless. |
Breaking up ammo to get around either being careful what to take with you and what to skip or taking a perk that is only made for hardcore mode falls into the same category as, for example, using a conversation glitch to get infinite xp. Or take the quest to torture that one legion dude for the NCR: Technically you are supposed to either do the quest NCR-style OR like Boone would. It is really easy to please both parties, although this was not intended.
Choosing to play hardcore mode, only to get around the annoyances by exploiting the game mechanics, and then complaining about it being not hardcore enough is lame.

Christ on crutches. I wait 1.5 hours for the game to download again, go back to talk to chauncy. Crash.
it's not even a crash really. it's like a freeze. The game just stops responding. No crash dialog. Sound is still going on, all I can do is tab out and kill it.

Does anybody know how far DarN is with his UI?
and what's a good inventory sorting mod to go along with the DarNified UI?

DarN released beta version of his interface which is working like a charm for me and looks amazing. Link was here some pages ago or just google it.

It won't Overlord123, it works via Steam and has a few drawbacks as such as going via the launcher and needing the Steam community overlay needs to be active.
(Agreement between them and Valve as to make the NVSE extension compatible, explained better in the thread by the author of it and the utility and a few posts down when it's further explained.)

For now at least, unsure how it will be in the future but as far as I know it will only check against the normal Steam exe, Fallout 3 and Oblivion versions however supported several versions and a variety of exe files including modified ones, although for Fallout 3 this was mostly due to problems regarding LIVE.

As I understand it there's no "hey the NCR retook the NCRCF!" line in the radio dialogue at all and that bothered me really badly :/

Hardcore feels more like a standard for me, some aspects of hardcore should be like that at default.
Question about Ammo boxes.
How can I unpack them, Or is it just a box? i doubt it is looking at the price.
Thanks that did it.
It was a 5MM surpluss box, they do give x1.15 damage but with increased spread and gun condition.
Not the best indeed, but more than half the price.

It's a bug, there's a mod that corrects it (But makes the game somewhat unstable if you buy more than one at a time.) otherwise drop them on the ground or in a container and pick them up again and they should add properly.
(Same goes for any lose casino caravan cards you might have which will then be added to the full deck.)
EDIT: They're bulk/surpluss ammo however, worst type in the game in most cases.

the hardcore mode as it is said is not bad at all (tried it during 30 hours or so), but when I learnt you can not get anything truly interesting as award for it, well, just cut it off too.

The game can only be played through steam. They only released steampowered version, in shops or otherwise.
Atleast in USA and western european countries.
If you'd need a version thats not for steam, you're pirating it and you can't really ask them to support pirates.
I know I wouldn't support pirates.

You could have bought the game and then applied the crack so you don't need steam anymore. For example the stutter remover needs a decrypted/cracked exe, too so there is another reason to apply the crack. |
By replacing the exe you're using software that is out of the vendors control, and all the subsequent problems arising from this they cannot in any way help you with. But many people are expecting that, even now when it's not supported.
The moment a game such as this employs a drm like steam, you have to work with that if you want any kind of official approval. Which they have got.
Sure you may have your reasons for replacing it, but you're on your own when doing so and must either yourself modify the nvse to comply with your custom exe, or wait for other pirates to do it.

Personal satisfaction only and a achievement for it, as the game has a defined ending it wouldn't work with much else.
