first day reviews, one site gave it a 6/10 due to lag (latency while moving), and other sites are reporting it cant regonise the faces of black people.

the black people thing is teh lame... i've yet to see it reported from a credible source that didn't inform you that it's just a rumor.
latency and what not are a given but some sites, which used it in ideal conditions say that the lag isn't that bad and it works.

actually kinect will only work for you if you got a light studio 
it needs to fully see you. have you tried taking pictures in a dark enviro w/o flash... they come out shaky and lame and shit... so kinect would work in the ideal conditions as presented in the commercials, posters etc... conditions that rich people, ms execs, people with lofts and 150k income.
kinect wouldn't work well in my place as it's dark... really dark  and i really am not in the mood to install new lights just for kinect to work. am buying it for my nephew though.
also kinect being racist is a crock of shit. 
and the reviews aren't all bad.
so ummm
yeah. the tech works great ... in ideal conditions only. tons of xbots don't have ideal conditions. tons of reviewers don't have ideal conditions.

Kinect: Racing games 'may never work'

It's a sentiment that was echoed by Ubisoft earlier this year. Narrative director for Ubisoft's H.A.W.X 2, Edward Douglas, told CVG that losing button control in the genre risked its 'authenticity'. According to Douglas "buttons are needed" for the control of vehicles.

I can't wait to see them announce a "Kinect Plus" 1-2 years later, to enhance the precision of the tracking. And then they'll bundle it with Kinect Adventures 2.

I´m seriously worried about evolution of gaming. I am not saying that evolving what we currently have controller wise is a bad thing. VR would be a much cooler direction instead of kiddie games. 15 years ago I thought I´d be sitting/standing in my living room with my VR helmet and experiencing life like graphics. How wrong I was.

I guess it's all about being able to sell something to the largest possible public. The Wii did it first and won, Sony followed but got it wrong and now MS is trying and is doing everything they can to make this device a winner.
As usual, Nintendo innovates and takes the risk while the others wait and follow some time later. I don't know why it took them 4 years this time...

well i just wasted 20 mins of life trying to find some useful information on the xbox forums. as usual i feel a little violated and slightly retarded after reading anything from those forums. didn't see any useful user reviews for kinect either.

either it works well and is cool and has potential

yeah it's grand for that. i can imagine having one at the office and just relaxing a bit before a shoot or so. just like with the wii. but if they implement it with the controller i can see some real slick 3d interface for games. like for rpg games that would include some hands on shit... hacking, scanning, etc, etc... or a remake of minority report

the new xS has a new Usb dunno if its usb3 but it powers the Kinect Cam , on the old X you new a power brick to power the kinect camera to make it turn ON... and well that power BRICK IS MISSING LUUULLLZZ

whats the big deal? most people with an old 360 (myself) would be buying the stand alone kinect kit which would come with the needed accessories. if someone buys a kinect bundle and it doesn't come with a power connector for an older xbox that's kind of nothing to get bent over.
no different than not including hdmi or optical cables which all the console makers are guilty of.

Nah, he's speaking out his arse mate. Kinect DOES come with the power cable for those that don't have the console-specific power supply via the custom USB port (it's not USB3, you tit).
