Cop Reloaded 0.6 Beta Released
Quote: | -2085 New high definition textures touching everything, land, organic textures, weapons, vegetation ...
-200 additional music camp and work full on sounds with improved environmental sounds,
the music, of firearms, and the common dialogs (NPC encountered outside for example) but restored in Russian with voice-related quests kept in the base language of the player.
-Atmosfear 1.3 Improve included with the sky textures optional HD.
-Gnomus scopes with contrast enhanced Fwouedd included.
improving rain, thicker and annoying to the sight unless we find a proper shelter (trees, tent ...)
-New menu and loading screen mod + no-intro.
-Changing the "light night" for more contrasting shadows and lighting control as good as CS and CSS.
-New animations for the SVD, the SVU, the PKM, the SPAS12 and winchester 1300 by Gosuke and kingfriday.
-Detector Svarog improved and new visual effects for the detectors, the LEDs are really bright andare managed as a source of light.
-All neon lamps and can bedestroyed (dynamic lighting mode only)
-Improving the balance of artifacts with a change of features, many artifacts reappear after a Blowout for pushing the player exploring, they also cost (and therefore sell) more expensive and more difficult to obtain.
-The chimera is weaker than before (as she had said pluton indestructible master mode) but is faster and jumps three times more often.
-The Burer are much more resistant and aggressive
-The controllers are more resistant and deadly
-The pseudo-giant is slower but is three times stronger than before.
-The bodies of the monsters and NPCs disappear faster card in a concern for realism and to avoid falling FPS stupid.
-the range of the knife attack is larger.
-A helicopter will appear once a day but still Zaton at high altitude. During the mission of the Owl has the mercenary base, this one will be attacked by the same helicopter, I will not break the pleasure of this mini-quest, but this attack is related to an element of the scenario if you ask enough stalkers insights about the helicopters above the lakes of Pripyat, I'll send an email to the creator of the mod to see if I could not work on it with him.

Bought this on sale recently. Wow this is so much better than the first STALKER game, imo. Added the S.M.R.T.R. mod so I'm not speaking for the vanilla gameplay. All I need to do is loot the stalkers and bandits after they fight each other or the monsters and I can build my eq up. Seems sort of cheap but it's still fun.
I'm reading that to combine AtmosFear mod with S.M.R.T.R mod that the system.ltx file needs to be merged between the two mods. Would someone please advise me on how this is done? Notepad? I'd need to know the default values and then see which mod changes which lines I suppose and keep all changes...? Seems risky.
Oh and btw, the FOV Switcher is an absolute must for this game.
Edit: Okay this page instructs how to get the default system.ltx and other files..

Signs of addiction:
1) Just seeing the game's title pop up in NFO Hump produces a rush.
2) Anger when the revived old thread is merely regular conversation and not an announcement.
3) Typing up addiction notice reminder in NFO Hump.

Don't get me wrong, I love the Stalker series....BUT....
Is it just me or does it feel like Fallout New Vegas is what this series should have been like?
I mean, NV has the atmosphere, tons of weapons, weapon modifications, different ammo, random fights between factions, MUCH larger world, repairing weapons/armor, RADIATION, post-disaster scenario......
I dont know how many times while playing NV I sat and thought.....what is better about Stalker than this game....and....this is what Stalker should have been....

What? Stalker have this creepy post apocalyptic feel while Fallout feels like a kid's happy cartoon world in comparison.

Play the original, especially one of the underground labs. You'll see that neither FO:NV or FO3's atmosphere is nowhere near the one that the STALKER series have, IMO.

@jackasshole:
With one small difference: STALKER is a first person shooter while New Vegas is a rpg, ergo they're not even comparable

Mostly with different artifacts that affect your stats, different ammo types, a main quest with some side quests, etc.

Not true, you can compare ANY game on atmospheric quality of it.

The level design and atmosphere of the Stalker games is easily the best I've ever seen, NV doesn't even come close in that department, good game though.

Yup, but the gameplay and how the game is structured are very different, since STALKER is merely focused on gunplay and atmosphere while in Fallout 3\NV these aspects are rather secondary (exploration, dialogues and skills are much more important), imo.

Open total commander, make sure the first system.ltx is selected in the left window and the second system.ltx is selected in the right window and press "compare by content". You can easily see what lines are different, and edit either the first or the second system.ltx with the changes from the other one.

Yeah I keep expecting (while playing NV) to be scared shitless by something out of left field, because that's how it is in stalker. but it doesn't happen too much, mostly a landmines thing. ed-e keeps scaring the shit out of me but that's just because I keep expecting a radiated person with no skin crawling on all fours (stalker) to come flying at me and I turn around and it's just ed-e being in a random place.
The thing about stalker is the mobs are not all derivations of the same thing. I mean, playing clear sky, there was a goddamn pack of ghost dogs doing psych damage that turned out to be just one dog hanging out at the back fucking with your mind.
f3... supermutants! NV... moar supermutants!
tho I gotta say stalker freaks me out to the point I can't play it casually, and I've spent a lot of time with NV because I like the rpg elements.
(EDIT)
oh and I fucking hate gamebryo. What a shitty engine for a shooter.

Shit....didn't mean to take over the entire page
Just that these two games (aside from one being REALLY scary and the other is KINDA scary) are very similar. When I think back to this Stalker and the original (yes, played both) Stalker seems very small and kinda linear compared to NV.....and no I don't mean linear like Kane and Lynch linear, but dunno....the game seemed to keep pushing me into one direction as I recall...
I think watching a couple factions get into fights in the middle of the desert made me think back to Stalker, then I couldn't stop thinking of comparisons between the two....
Also, true that one is a FPS and the other is more of an RPG, but the weapon stacking/repair, different types of ammo, inventory weight, yada yada, very similar

How you can even compare the atmosphere in NV to this, I've no idea. This game has an actual dangerous wasteland. The wildlife is always out to eat you, and have a fairly good chance of doing so. The environment itself is out to kill you. Everything is out to kill/fuck you over.
The atmosphere in STALKER has yet to be surpassed.

It's not just the setting, but the actual feel of the environment, mostly the industrial complexes that manage to suck me in the most.
Without exaggeration, my all time favorite gaming moments both happened in this series. One of them was when I explored one of the abandoned buildings at night (IIRC it was the industrial complex near the Freedom base in Clear Sky), during a thunderstorm, and the only source of light was my flashlight and the occasional lightning that pierced through the windows. That overwhelming sense of loneliness and extreme tension that a mutant can come charging at me out of nowhere was amazing.
Sometimes I imagine what a great new feature would be for the game to be able to have your own little stalker squad, managing every member's equipment, but then I remember that moment and immediately realize that having others with me in those situations would immediately kill the tension.
The new Fallout games have their merits (I love them too, just not nearly as much as Stalker), but their atmosphere comes from the post-apocalyptic, everything-is-destroyed setting, while the Stalker games rely more on the natural decaying of industrial and urban environments. So it's apples or oranges for me. Love both, just one of them more.

Agreed...the atmosphere and environment are just amazing. I can remember when the Shadow of Chernobyl multiplayer demo came out, I was just running around by myself and thought "damn, this looks like a real place." Exploring stuff late in the afternoon with dark rainclouds overhead, hearing weird sounds in the distance, is a great experience. I don't think Clear Sky or CoP have matched the first game's atmosphere, but that's just my opinion.

I SOOOO want to get into this game as I did the first two. BUT, CoP looks way way worse than Clear Sky. I have tried different tweaks, only to get bad FPS. I would be happy if it looked like Clear Sky did after a few texture packs (I think it was amazing and just sucked me right in)
I wish CoP Complete was done and I would try again tomorrow.

Well , while most games today are full of jump scares and only a few (Amnesia) rely on atmosfear.
I'd say that STALKER relies on human emotion , sure the game doesnt have anything particular at the very beggning , but as you play , you become more immserved in the world around you whilist subtely getting under your skin .
A great combination of atmosfear , sound , visuals in a place as mysterious as the Zone , it relies on the basic forms of fear of most people , fear of the dark , loneliness , isolation and the fear of death.
Even tho most sequences aren't necesarilly scary , the condtions that the game imposes combined with the overall sense of dread make this a tough and terrfying ride.
