A few games coming out that require 3.50 now, and editing the SFO doesn't seem to work either. Hope someone figures it out by the time CoD comes out.

Just use MKV2VOB and convert your MKV's. x264 play perfectly along with AC3 sound and the app will convert DTS if needed as well.

Is there any step-to-step guide on how to jailbreak the PS3? Containing some background info on the whole process etc and what tools to get. There is 115 pages here on nfohump so a summary would be nice.
Also would you guys say that this is the best time to get a PS3 with the games essentially being free? I got some money to blow but i'm still doubting my decision if I should get a PS3 now or not.

Wow! I just got a PS3 I bought from eBay today. And guess what firmware it had. Fucking 2.35
Not only can this PS3 be Jailbreaked but it has Other OS.
I just updated it to 3.50. Am I a dumbass?
BTW I already have a Jailbreaked PS3, I bought this one for online, but did not expect it to have such a low firmware, whoever sold me this must have had this thing in storage for almost two years because 2.35 goes way back.

You're not a dumb-ass, but you've certainly killed the JB prospects =) Best to keep that one now as an online machine and for newer games that can't be patched <3.50, keep using your existing JB machine for free games.

As you wanted it to play online, I would say not.
But personally myself I would have updated it to 3.15, and then updated the other machine.
that way i could have had OtherOS / Freeeeeeee games and the odd occasional online play

Problem is, I was considering forgetting the JB and upgrading and playing. HOWEVER, as the PS3 sends a list of games played - including "backup manager", then I just know it's going to get banned from online play at some point.
I've effectively wasted my ps3 lol might as well keep JB'n now!

Apparently the latest version of Gaia Manager (1.03 last I checked) has built in functionality for CLEANING the list of previously played titles, so that they don't get sent to Sony.

Yeh but it sends every time we sign in.. and thus, it's going to be too late for us early adopters!

Just booted my first backup
I have a doubt:
With COD Black Ops on the horizon, is there any way to play online (backup or original)?
Thank you,
Rui

Got a quick question about "Managers" that boot backup games on the PS3.
There are many to choose from and it all depends on what one is looking for but my question is if I remove a manager that I don't want to use anymore will it delete all the games on my PS3 HDD..? I had read a thread where someone said that once they removed managers the games installed from that manager are tied to it in someway and it deletes all the games from the GAMEZ directory....
I am in the process of updating managers but I want to delete some of the old ones that I don't use but at the same time I don't want all my games deleted.
Anyone have an experience on this topic...?

Well , in case of Open Manager i would've expected it to delete the entire OMAN folder in which case removing it would not be enough. Moving did not work either using WinSCP and the blackbox ftp server. Resulted in some weird error but it just wouldn't move anything . In the end i abandoned the idea and from what i read you can just install a newer version of open manager on top of the old one and keep your games ( though i haven't tried this so i can't be held accountable for an eventual loss of games ^_^ )
