Update now confirmed for the 1st November, via xbox.com:

im on the beta dash and it doesnt boot patched to wave 3 or not (fable 3). the new checks are in the game xex afaik.

So just to get this straight. if i tomorrow update my console (if im not banned that is) I might not be able to boot new games anymore? Got a lite-on/phillips dvd-rom with lt v1 firmware.

... and as part of this question; Is it possible to flash a LiteOn without the CK3+ stuff ONCE it's been flashed before? If I want to play new games, I'm going to need to flash with that upcoming LT+ or whatever - but without the CK3 kit, is it even possible?

games with the new ap2.5 protection wont work without a firmware update if you have a liteon drive afaik.
you should be able to read the firmware of a flashed liteon without the ck3 stuff afaik

maybe this new update proves that M$ having hard times detecting Moded consoles?
I don't underestimating them,and we will have to see tomorrow/the next few days,if I had moded 360,I wouldn't update until new FW will arrive to counter this.

I would be more worried about them finally implementing ap25
Downloading the challenges surely makes it nigh on impossible to replicate correct responses

OK, I read this whole thread and I'm still not clear.
I was planning on buying Kinect, so obviously I'll need the new dashboard. But I'm currently on Wave 3, and have just been patching games for the last year or two (not banned either, and I have been connecting every once and a while for NHL 10/11 roster updates).
So if I update the dashboard, does this mean all of my patched to wave 3 discs won't work anymore?

Any talk of new 360 games being able to run by preventing the game from updating similar to what Wii does? Considering where I am in my 360's life cycle (banned, and probably not long for a red ring) I'm pretty much done with the console as a whole. With this new dash, it pretty much means I'm done with the 360 entirely now, but it would be nice to know there's a chance I can still play any new games that come out in the future. If not well, it's not like MS has been getting any of my money, and I'm not about to start just because of this.

It might affect new games or only some of them.
Meybe its just a coincidence with fable3.
Btw. Does fable3 boot on first beta of new dash? 416 version? Becouse I have that and 1.61LT
