Even if Energy weapons are generally rather weak, yesterday I found one which may be worth getting:
Spoiler: |
In the river valley at the east border of the map there is an area with an insane number of Deathclaws. StealthBoy required.
At the end of this area is a nest with some Deathclaw eggs (to sell) and an unusual energy weapon - like a mix of shotgun and Plasma weapon. Fires three energy balls at once.
Only problem is: since its unique its in rather bad condition. If it could be repaired it could be a powerful weapon
|
Is there any way to repair that thing? I could not find a way until now. At the fort the repair option for that device is greyed out (only specialists can repair it, I presume)
thx

Spoiler: | I tricked the old ranger to go in front of the dinosaur - I wanted his armor and the thought of Boone, a rabid pro-NCR guy, killing one of NCR's finest was just too delicious to pass. |

http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34970
It still lists the card as the Nvidia one, but it's render info is setup to match ATI cards instead of Nvidia cards.
And there's of course the "old" one for Nvidia cards:
http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34778
Regardless I don't use the DLL, my game runs better without it.
Also to EVERYONE, update your drivers!
ATI was updated on the 22nd (3 days ago for me, 8am on the 25th here right now ) And I believe Nvidias drivers were also updated on the 22nd, not sure tho. Could have been the 19th-22nd can't remember I read it on some FNV forums..
Anyways my game runs A LOT better with the updated ATI driver, I don't even experience the crashes I used to when finishing a trade or trying to leave a convo.. |
thanks for the links.
having the latest drivers didnt change anything, neither did using an older version, changing the settings in game (well changing to low would reduce it some), and changing settings in the nvidia control panel.
the only thing I missed was the dll change, but wallah it fixed it for this one so im sure it would do the same for FO3.
but now its so smooth on ultra settings, im really enjoying the game.

If you're wearing faction armor it messes up the reputations screen. Take the armor off and it should go back to normal.

To all you people that want to wear NCR armor but don't want to be affiliated with NCR here's a mod for you:
http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34927
Quote: | THIS IS NOT A REPLACEMENT!
The Prison was taken over by the Powder Gangers, so they threw out all of the NCR Armor. It has been subtly defaced (No actual visual change, this is just reasoning for it to be in the game) and is no longer considered official. Just outside the prison is a dumpster containing the armor.
The armor, being discontinued, no longer affiliates you with the NCR. You're just a regular guy who is wearing some thrown out armor. This way you can be dressed in whatever outfit you like, without worrying about affiliation.
HELMETS INCLUDED. Helmets are not faction-specific, but I included them so that you could get a whole outfit if you wanted to.
The only change is that each item is now named Discontinued, and wearing it no longer counts as wearing NCR Faction Armor. |
Tho it is a bit cheating as it adds the armors to a dumpster outside the Correction Facility (prison) so if you haven't gotten the armor before then you could get a good armor by using this mod! :/
Friendship is like peeing on yourself; everyone can see it, but only you get the warm feeling that it brings.

Did anybody find the armory in Vault 34 ?!?
Spoiler: |
I was there pretty early and almost died from the radiation and all these mighty glowing ghuls. With last reserves I managed to switch off the reactor and head out. I even unlocked the armory via the Overseers terminal but could not find the armory itself. But I ran out of ammo and radioactivity protection.
In the wiki I was now reading about the mighty items stored there.
I would really like to go back there again (have the spacesuit meanwhile for protection) and try again.
is there any trick or hidden way or something to find the armory?
|
thx

Yeah the armory is not like in other vaults/other places, it's more what you'd expect a real armory to be like. Ie., shit loads of weapons and armor.
Bring a companion unless you want to make several trips.
Spoiler: | Has a unique assault rifle and a Pulse Gun as well (very rare afaik - does extra damage against robots AND power armor). The AR is on a table but to get the Pulse Gun you need 100 in lockpick.
The direct route to the armory is collapsed but you can access it via the clinic - there's a hole in the back wall.

Heh, after exploring the wastes like this, I would love some lights along the main roads. Thinking of adding more fire barrels at various parts in trader camps, and I would love for the road you take from Goodsprings to NV be lined with streetlights. What I'd love to do is have them scripted though, to only work AFTER Helios One is back online. Not sure how much of a burden that would be to the game though...
I've never modded maps though, in any Gamebryo game. I like how when modding variables, your changes go into esp's. Does the same thing happen when you add an item to an existing map?
i can has computar?!

jackasshole wrote: | Are there more maps? Meaning, is the main map the entire game?
Also, I'm almost to the "strip" which I am assuming is the large city with highways to the north of the main map.
I'm STRONGLY considering going all the way back to the south-east corner of the map and literally look for loot/side quests that I may have missed prior to going to the large city.
Any suggestions? (lvl14 BTW) |
The map seems small, but it's filled with places to explore. There is no more wasted space between locations. It also does not seem "packed", the locations are properly spaced imo.
Go to New Vegas if you like, you'll get a lot of quests. It's a nice diversion after explorng aimlessly.

The info on loading screen is very basic stuff, just like you'd expect. You aren't missing anything at all.

New Vegas beats Fallout 3 debut sales
Quote: | GFK-ChartTrack has confirmed that Fallout: New Vegas has outperformed predecessor Fallout 3's opening weekend sales by almost a third.
The UK games data monitor reported that New Vegas - which went top of the All Formats chart this morning - "comfortably" beat Bethesda's previous record holder.
New Vegas' sales on Friday, Saturday and Sunday were 29 per cent greater than Fallout 3's in week 44 of 2008. That game also hit No.1 in the chart.
New Vegas knocked EA Medal of Honor off the top spot in today's chart, with EA's FIFA 11 taking the No.3 slot. |

I'm having a weird problem. You now the owls hooting and the crickets tjirping at night? I have that all the time now. Can I fix this or remove teh sounds completely? Especially the cickets get irritating after some time.
Is it me or are there 8-9 songs in total? wtf? The songs are good and add to the game, but surely they could've added more.

It's an early build that is updated on a daily basis, but it certainly helped my performance.
The great thing about this mod, is that it fixes the "64 hrz" issue with Gamebryo Engine. In other words, it fixes these micro stutters that everybody is experiencing with Oblivion/FO3/NV.
So, this is Imho awesome, because I was getting pretty tired of the constant stuttering that happened regardless of detail settings.
http://newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34832
Ps. Just use the preliminary_4 archive. |
This doesn't seem to work on the cracked skidrow release. The logfile says:
"This version of FalloutNV.exe is not recognized (it is either encrypted or an unsupported version)"
I'm using skidrow update2, which is version 1.1.1.271
The description says that this version is supported but i guess it doesn't recognize the cracked exe.
edit: Now i tried with the original exe and it still says unsupported version, so no idea why it doesn't work. |
It works fine for me, and I'm using Update 2 by Skidrow.
