Good game faster than the pc version due to slow bits taken out, and as for not up to riddicks standard gfx wise, thats rubbish the textures and lighting are superb. Makes me laugh people going on about pc being better, yeah once you spent the cash on all the upgrades. waited for the pc to boot, freeze then crash hehe.

older modchip users may want to extract iso image delete xbe files except default xbe then repack to another iso using qwix or xiso etc
i got a older chip (extender) & when first burnt to disc it kept giving me dirty disc error
done as above & also patched xbe repacked then burned it worked fine then

no punch the chicken game? the bar/canteen at the beginning of the game is also taken out.

yep, they seem to have removed a hell of alot of the game just played through the first hour which for me was the best part on the pc. Noticed like yourself they had removed the part with the chicken game, the part where you go through the airlock onto the surface of mars, the section where you descend down several staircases whilst some steel girders are being loaded and much more.

There is alot more movement in the background on the pc version as well, when you descend through the sections which have machinery everything appears to be moving/operating where as on the xbox alot of that stuff is static, likewise some of the lighting has been cut out.

Heck though I love my Xbox and as a conversion its pretty good, not the definitive version but very good. Didn't really enjoy the game at all on the pc and this conversion is obviously more of the same so having tested it for an hour just then its one that'll go straight into my collection and probably not get played again anytime soon.

Definetly worth grabbing for people who don't have a pc or the people who don't have powerful enough pcs. Smile

ah right, they did a good job of cutting down on the loading times as well I'll give them that. I was surprised during my brief spell of playing it on the xbox that from the start of the game upto the point where you reach the infirmary the game only stopped and loaded the levels 2 maybe 3 times a far cry from what I'd expected.

K, me and a friend of mine were taking some screenshots of the xbox version (he took most of them).

Since I still have the PC version here, I thought i'd take screenshots on similar places, for comparison.
Obviously, the PC version is better. But i'd say the XBOX version ended up pretty good, considering the hardware differences. But i'd also have to say I've seen games on consoles with better graphics (god of war on the ps2, Splinter Cell 3 on the xbox. Halo 2 and riddick look pretty good too).

To make the comparison fair, the screenshots of the PC version are in 800x600 (I usually play it at 1600x1200), while the xbox screenshots are in 640x480.

My brother and I were playing the Ultimate Doom in co-op and it froze somewhere in the 4th or 5th level.
I haven't tried the normal Doom 3 single player part yet.
Using a US XBox with Xenium.

Seems like alot of the screens are pretty close. Very good job on the port. A top-end PC and a 4 year old xbox are apples and oranges and it looks like Vicarious Visions made applejuice from oranges. I'm impressed.

yup it is helluva good port but honestly anyone with a decent card and monitor knows its nothing like what doom3 looks like on ultra high, its more like doom 3 pc on medium pc settings which isnt a bad thing at all considering it does look good on medium settings. i still dont think it looks as good as splinter cell 3 i mean c'mon that game's just about as perfect as u could want in the gfx departments its the little things that standout in a game like splintercell

I cant get this to work!.
I have the Square release. Everytime i burn the iso it says "unknown" on evo x. Ive tried changing loads of settings on the box. Ive tried it on my other xbox with Xecuter 3. Its not a hardware issue as both xbox's are working great with new Samsung dvd roms in both. My discs are good also. The other box has an Aladdin chip.
Iam using prassi to burn it, could this be the problem?, has anyone else had bother loading it?. This is driving me nuts, the only bloddy game i have wanted to play for ages and its giving me grief. Any ideas?

Man this is just terrible on the XBox. It looks like they toned down ALOT of stuff. The lighting isnt even good. I knew it would happen though. Awhile back the devs where talking about toning alot of things down. This was way before the announcement of the Doom 3 expansion pack. Oh well... plus side is this has coop thats already coded in.

For those that are having problems with burning this iso with recordmax, prassi etc. You need to goto options for the image and change the mode from cd mode2 xa to cd mode1. hope this helps
