Well i guess its because a lot of people think 5 years is enough now but it seems WoW is still growing and the endless flood of clones never stop. Could be a bit annoying for some if publishers say " Its better to have another WoW clone and make some money in short time rather than trying something new". This happened to Spellborn when Frogster decided to go with RoM and probably happened to a lot of others games too. Look at Aion or Allods, full of innovation :/ Its not that all the ppl say WoW is shit, they are just bored to hell of it and clones after 5 years of click-and-wait-until-dead-repeat game play mechanics.

Oh man, just by chance saw Earthrise.

SWG is my alltime top1 mmo (pre-we-destroy-everything-patch)
Love EvE with the playerdriven stuff and pvp.

Sooo.. Earthrise sounds like a mix inbetween both of them... oh god i hope its good.

Last I heard the amount of subscribers has stayed the same for about a year now? IIRC there was a spike when WOTLK came out, but that pretty soon stabilized again.

I mean of course it's great success for a game so relatively old, but I don't think WoW will grow anymore.

WoW isn't growing, they haven't released a new milestone since 2 years ago. This can either mean that

1. Population has decreased, due to how waterd down the game has been with wotlk.
2. Population has remained stable, alot of people quit but other people joined.

I also agree that wow clones fail, the reason im excited about starwars kotor is that it has absolutely 0 in common with wow

World of Warcraft in decline, but perhaps not for long ...
Hey all,

Yep, World of Warcraft subscription numbers are declining for the first time in it's history.

In december 2008 WoW had 11,5m active subscribers, in may 2009 it was already clear WoW was stagnating with 11,6m active subscribers and now Blizzard Top Dog, Mike Morhaime, says WoW is stable with 11,5m active subscribers, which is actually a small decline of 100k subs.

However, meanwhile the GAPP ( Chinese government ) finally approved The Burning Crusade, so WoW China is back on track, and will probably bolster Chinese WoW numbers in the near future.

Add to that the upcomming expansion Cataclysm in the West and one can see that WoW still has a strong future ahead.

Newbie gank at a new level. From VoodooExtreme:

Quote:

Once upon a time in a land known as Darkfall, a GM transported a player to the wrong place, causing the player's character to be killed and looted (LOL). Some members of the community decided that the GM was corrupt and misdirected the teleport on purpose.

The matter was investigated and the GM explained that he had used the wrong command and accidentally transported the player to his location. The GM was new and not fully familiar with the available tools yet. It was determined by Aventurine that this was a matter of inexperience, and not corruption.

Despite summing things up as a newbie error, the GM got shit-canned. Aventurine cites "handling of the situation in an unprofessional manner". Apparently the ex-GM may have handled the actual "customer service" portion of the ordeal in a less than stellar manner. At least one would hope, as getting fired for making an honest mistake would be sucktastic.

As for the player that got killed and looted... Enjoy, now you'll have something to tell your grandchildren about!

why would they have such a place to summon players where they die and get looted? sounds like they made a zone as a joke and it backfired.

Anyone got selected for Black Prophecy closed beta already? Or any other good mmo in the landing? Recently played Martial Empires CB - looks a lot like Aion, nice gfx but too much grinding. Another one is Battle of the Immortals - Titan Quest like, its OK but ugly interface, bad controls and no atmosphere at all.

No idea how "free" it really is since I haven't tried it yet and I have no idea how limited the adept spell tier is but anyways. Anyone tried the f2p crap yet since the beta started last week?

Will feature a free-to-play model (Probably a commercial game though.) doesn't say much else, accepts beta applications.

I recently tried Dungeons & Dragons Online, requires you to pay for even healing potions, big turn off Evil or Very Mad

I believe with DnD though you can if ur hardcore play with no restrictions for free if your willing to grind for the "stuff" that allows you to get paid items for no real cash..

With lotro though there are if I remember coded restrictions that will not be available unless your paying some sort of mnthly fee..

It's like a really small arenabased DoTA. You have no creeps, levels or items and it's 3vs3 and you control your character with WASD. No idea if they'll have 5v5 etc. but that's what was in the beta last time I played(months ago).

It'll most likely be a onetime purchase.

Not really fun to play it, at least for me. Feels like a poor version of HoN Sad
