Disturbing? Very Happy It's just a "Tanuki", they're the trickster gods of japanse mythology. If you go to Japan, you can see ceramic Tanuki statuettes standing in front of shops, the balls are supposed to bring luck.

Good, i see someone else is having my corrupt savegame problem. I noticed that it only happens to some save games. When i tried loading my corrupt save it would crach, but when i reloaded a previous one it worked. But that's no good since i lost tons of progress Crying or Very sad

Fuck, maybe i should just buy the game so i can use the patches...

Yeah i love that too. I also love how you can't just "buy" the best crew, you have to mould the lump of clay that is your starting crew into a more efficient one yourself. That way it REALLY stings when you lose one of them, since they're so hard to replace. But i'm actually afraid of playing the game now out of fear of the dreaded savefile corruption bug. I'm afraid i'll get really far and then lose all my progress Crying or Very sad

Click on your weapons master and click on the little torpedo icon thing. That shows where your torps are, and their reload status.

Technically, yes.
Un-technically (shit yea, I made a new word!), no.

Think of that patrol grid as kinda an added renown bonus.
You get x amount for getting there, x amount for patrolling around for twenty four hours.

But, if you're conserving fuel like you should be (ahead 1/3rd unless chasing/stalking a contact/convoy, ramp up time compression to 1024), you'll have plenty to patrol around after your finished with the assigned zone.

My best recommendations to you would be check out the costal regions near ports/cities in red.

Also, stay the fuck away from the English Channel, unless you want a nonstop flow of destroyers gunning for your ass (trust me on this)...
They never give up, nor do they run out of depth-charges. And the damn channel is shallow as hell, nowhere to hide.

Was stalking a convoy of 22 (yes, read that right , 22) T3s/C3s/and I do believe there was a fuckin aircraft carrier in there somewhere as well Smile
However, after narrowly dispatching the 2 VAW destroyers on its flanks, new ones kept coming to reinforce (the convoy was midway through the English channel by this time). 2 more J Class Destroyers down, and then I got my ass promptly owned. I didn't go down without a fight though goddamnit Very Happy

However, I will never be shortcutting through there, ever, again. Every 5 seconds Warship spotted, can't time compress past 32, and your crew fatigue goes to shit. Virtually (and technically) impossible to go that way.

anyway I have been looking at this thread for quite some times and I now want to try SH3. Though I have never played a Sub Sim before, do I have any chances of becoming a commander of my own U-Boat without reading 400 pages of manual :O

Mutantius the manual is something around 60 pages. Just hit the navel academy and give it a shot. Works nice and slick if you want to jump right in.

Select your Weapon Officer, than click Weapons Managment button.
Then point your mouse over each tube to get info when it will be reloaded (if you have enough men etc to do it of course...).
