Well the dll (downloaded one, my own in windows folder didnt work) actually worked flawless.

As you can see it runs smooth as fuck now @ 1920x1080 8xAA 15xAF ultra high. (no more fps drops aswell when chars talk, altho i got a feeling the sound quality is lesser now?)

The .dll after checked what people reported about it and that it's like a loder appears to work by changing the DeviceID reported to that of the 7900, this does make it so the D3D9x or what it was called (DirectX9e also called.) doesn't initiate and normal DX9 is used instead of the DX10 compatible stuff (DX10 is not used of course.)

This also makes it so the NVIDIA specific shader package for Fallout Vegas is loaded but as a 7900 this is the Nvidia high-end SM 3.0 one as far as I'm aware.
(The \Data\Shaders files, one for each step of GPU though F3 removed 2.0 support so only 2.0b and 3.0 will function and is used together, final 19th package is full 3.0 functionality but not meant for general use in Fallout 3, helpful in Oblivion though which functioned in the same way.)

So far, no weird lag yet, only played through the initial stuff and ran around a bit outside though because I need to fiddle with the .ini Smile

My NCR faction appears to be stuck. All of my other ones rise correctly except for it. I've done at least a half dozen missions for them now. Although, maybe it just rises extremely slowly? Sad

Well, after about 5 hours of playing, I have an opinion about the game ... I think it's the weakest Obsidian has done, and most of it is not their fault. I mean, the FO3 type of FO is just no fun for me. Combat is boring at best, even at hardest difficulty and hardcore mode, the game is a breeze.

Quests are okay, I guess, but locales just don't seem alive, kind of counterproductive in a free roamer. Obsidian are loads better with directed content, I think.

Overall, I'm pretty bored with the game, but I still like it more than I liked FO3 - which bored me to tears, I kid you not.

Yeah, I'm having issues with NCR rep as well (see my earlier post if you care Razz). Should be able to raise it manually via the console, going to test it now.

Obsidian are a software house (developer Razz) that make awesome, yet fundamentally flawed, games. They're the ones that made Fallout New Vegas, with Bethesda being the guys that made Fallout 3.

Yeah, a lot of people still think KOTOR2, and NWN2 was made by bioware.

Both are spectacular games, yet technically flawed. Pretty much Obsidian all over; amazing ideas, lousy execution.

So no FPS drops for me, I do play with VSync enabled so it's capped at 60 FPS. My grass does keep glitching like crazy though, just keeps flickering when I move. It's fine when standing still :E

The biggest issue though is that there's a whole load of models missing it seems, and it's pretty darn annoying. I equipped the rather overpowered weathered pistol, but it's not even visible to me damned Sad

Despite that, it already grabbed me more than FO3 did, just a shame this is still on the Gamebryo engine. Characters still look terrible, and it just doesn't do justice to what a game like this should be (glitches and bugs aside).

Edit: thinking about it, that's one of the DLC weapons isn't it? That'll be why the model is missing then I guess Razz

Wasn't KotOR 2 almost exactly the same as KotOR 1, technically ? It was the story, for me, that was lacking, from the meeting with the council, onwards.

NV is the same as FO3, yet NV still ends up being buggier than a shit-house rat and requiring launch patches. Obsidian will be patching this game in a year, mark my words Very Happy They have great ideas but they suck balls with the coding side of things.. hehe.

In Fallout 1 there was no 'take all' button on containers and you could get blocked by NPCs standing in doors. Very Happy

Are you referring to the game exe or the tiny install size? Because patch weighed in at only a few MBs and the whole game was something like 500-600MB.

Not true, the patches were a few mbs, unless you didn't choose the HUMONGOUS installation option lol

5-6 hours in, playing Normal with Hardcore on. It's a good game, but I'm not sure I like it more than Fallout 3. Can't explain it. Maybe it's because they reused so much of FO3's stuff, making the game feel like an expansion more than a sequel/spin-off. In FO3 it was all new, so it had a much greater impact on me.

ONE dude said his (unnamed) scanner had detected something malicious in the .dll. Many others didn't detect anything, but I guess it was enough to scare some paranoid moderator.
