So, how does the game handle Widescreen resolutions? Is the FOV so narrow that you'll get motion sickness?
In FO3 I was able to alter the FOV to fit 16:10 resolutions, but I could never get the game to remember my alterations to the .ini file, that meant that I had to punch in the Fov command in the game console every time I restarted the game.

Anybody wanna chime in? Smile

BTW How come Usenet gives you full speed? It's just matter of connection speeds in their data centers which are not unlimited.
Same way rapidshare works, so how's that different in terms of speed.

Because you have "bots" that download multiple pieces at once and they (usenet providers) have enormous amounts of bandwidth, allowing 100+Mbit-connections to pull the data at maximum speed.

And the files are in small chunks, so it's kinda similar to torrents in that regard. Many connections getting many pieces at once. This also adds convenience: pausing/resuming at any time and for any amount of time.

There's just no beating usenet at this time in terms of service...
Also, you can do cool stuff like streaming movies and TV shows while you watch.

So long as it takes you longer to watch it than it does to download, you are golden.

Played Fallout 3 on the 360, now New Vegas on the PC (Core2Duo @ 3,6 GHZ, 4 Gig Ram, GTX 275).

What makes the game almost unplayable for me is the unconsistent framerate. Sometimes it is 60fps, sometimes it drops all of a sudden without a reason to 20fps (1920x1080@High).

Lowering detail/resolution doesnt't change much. Does this engine rely very much on the cpu? Maybe a fix for this from Fallout 3 which was the same engine?

So, the pre-order DLC. Does it work or what?

Plus, is there a map of the region? Besides the leaked ones, where we can't see shit in detail, of course.

Edit:
Or better yet, is the game guide out?

Nah I will leave it for now - for me unplayable because of inconsistent framerate. Will finish Halo Reach and play some more Civ 5 and will see if it will wait for it to be hopefully patched.

For FO3 there's a fantastic fose script mod that properly fixes FOV and even integrates into the pip boy. edit: it's called Automated_FOV.

For NV, it's annoyingly narrow fov of 75 and changing the .ini's doesn't make any difference. Yes you can use the console to change FOV but it will reset when loading different areas or entering houses, etc. Sad Sad

Agreed. There is a mod for FO3 called Fallout Stutter Remover, hopefully it will come out soon for NV.

Yes, the Gamebryo engine is heavily dependent on CPU and it DOES behave the way you described it.

Haven't got time to play atm but it's quite disappointing news to hear that this problem is still here (and this is even since Morrowind).

Anyone else getting skipping on the background music?

EDIT: It was the Fallout 3 radio stutter fix's fault. I reverted the fix and the skipping is gone.

I keep seeing pictures being posted in places that illustrate how it looks with changed texture resolutions. How/where do I find these? I have not played Fallout 3 on the PC so I'm not familiar with the whole modding of New Vegas. I'd assume it's close to Oblivion....

Anyways, any help on finding those improved textures would be much appreciated

Just did a bit more testing using a second screen so i could monitor afterburner and everest
q6600 at 3ghz
4 gigs of cosair
geforce 480 not overclocked
cpu usage not going over 40% overall ,3rd core running at 80-85% others at around 30%,dosent matter if fps is 30 or 80
gpu 30 to 50% usage max ,usage drops when looking at the town and then goes up when viewing wasteland
open world 60 - 80 fps
beside buildings in the town after leaving docs 30 - 40 fps

christ its not like the wooden shacks have any architectural merit that would justify a halving in framefrate

getting same white flashes that other are reporting

For FOV changes add "fDefaultWorldFOV=YourFOV" to the Display section of the FalloutPrefs.ini.

Seems to work as good as it did in F3 unless I missed something.
