Arguably the best RPG on the PS3. Arguably the most difficult game on the PS3. Yes, you should get it! Smile

Not yet. I'm currently working my way through 3-2 at the moment. Infuriatingly tough game, yet for some reason I just keep coming back and back Very Happy

i'd rather go cry in a corner after realizing that i've just wasted the last year grinding my char to a godlike level and perfecting a speedrun that basically just consists of pressing forward and oneshotting through sheer powah. Laughing

speedruns are meant to be a demonstration of skill and knowledge of the game, not something that puts the auto-easy mode in bayonetta to shame.

What the heck did he use against the armored spider. He just one shotted it with some spell.

And I think he demonstrated the knowledge of the game pretty well. Knew exactly what he was doing.

Didn't he use the homing soul arrow? He used it for most bosses except Phalanx which he actually beat "legitimately" Very Happy
And I didn't wanna cry because of the time just because how he breezes through the bosses.
Phalanx took him about 20-25 seconds O.o

In this game, spoilers will save you from frustration. Of course something things are better to discover yourself.

I gotta learn that spell. Also I am pretty impressed how he takes damage to get his health bellow 30% to get the damage boost to fight the bosses. One hit from them and he would be dead. Of course he probably redid some stages several times. But it looked like he was fighting bosses first time in that play through because the cutscenes were triggered (which they dont if he would die and fight them again).

Started a new char (actually started 3 new ones, but only one survived as the rest were WEAK, 10 freaking damage from my wanderer in 2-1).

Rolling pure melee class now, and I really miss my soul arrow. Went up against flamelurker, and had to quit that stage because I was probably disturbing the neighbors with my screams of FUCKER and FUCK YOU GAME, and if I started banging the controller against the wall, no doubt police would be just around the corner.

Trying to build a BBS char, and so far I am having a tough time getting there, since it requires high stats in most areas that do not benefit a melee class.

Fuck I am not looking forward to 5-2 and a battle with flamelurker again ( need to beat those both for bbs sword).

Edit; Seriously, fuck this shit. I hate those one shot kills. Was fighting maiden Astreae's protector, and all was going well. I dodge, he hits, all that, but then, out of no fucking where he IMPALES me with his CLUB and kills me with my health full (more than 700). That is just cheap.

Also those motherfucking trolls in 5-2 (I obviously beat it since im in 5-3), but its bs if they connect. They chain their combos and if I do one wrong roll, im in shit water up to my neck and its dead for me.

I love this game, but this shit is a tad on the cheap side.

I know this post is almost two months old but anyway.

The easiest way to make a BBS is to start as a Royal. You still start with soul arrow while having . You have less Vit and End then the Wanderer but more luck and anyway it all even up in the end.

- Vit and End to 15
- Magic to 18
- Str to 14
- Faith and Dex to 18.I'd start with dex since you can reach the lava bow req earlier
- Vit and End to 20
- Spend the rest on Luck to reach 20 or 25 , magic to 30 , End to 35 and Vit to 45 or 50

Get the falchion + 1 and Adjucator Shield from 4-1 and get the lava bow asap and you will cruise your way to the BBS while easily raping most bosses. I had an easy time making my BBS this way. Biggest threat being from invading players but if you guys play offline or with JB then it should be a non issue.

Just re fired up the game recently and i'm working on a Dex build for PVP. Going well so far and Dex is quite fun to play. Smile

Heh, that is an old post.

I got the bbs a long time ago and was doing pretty well, it is a great sword and I like the fast swings. I got to false king (i think that is his name, the dude who can de level you if he catches you, and is the last REAL tough boss). Died once, and havent played since. I guess it is because I know this game, and the element of surprise is gone and now it is all about grinding and repeating what i have already done. What kept me going, is the amazing melee combat, i just love it so much. Is there any other RPG game that has a similar combat, where it is more about your skills and not what level you grinded to.

And I am playing offline, I think if i was online, my TV would be smashed as dying in this game is frustrating enough without the help of invaders.

Looks dull as hell, a "corridor RPG"? Instead of filling the boring levels with crates (like they do in some corridor shooters when the designers run out of ideas of what to use as content) they've used kegs here instead here, lol. Overall the gfx looks like Oblivion but with a really bored designer that had his hand steadliy on ctrl+c / v.. It's like running in one of those terrible dull dungeons in Oblivion, but they made a complete game out of, what a nightmare.. If this is considered "good" on PS3 then i can't even begin to imagine how bad the rest must be.

@vurt
Wow. Trolling much?
First of all, the game looks good. Maybe not "omgz! I am teh l33t overclocked pc ownerz!!!!" good but whatever.
Second of all it's not dull. If you play the game like it's supposed to be played it's hard as fucking hell. Aggravating at times and a lot scarier than most games I've played.
While other games make you jump out of your seat kind of scared.
This one is a subliminal scary. It's got a dense amtosphere and this game managed something no other game managed before.
It made me be afraid of dying.
So either go play the game or do us all a favor get out of here.
Because your post reeks of eau de troll.

Not trolling, just observing. Whatever. I really dislike corridor shooters, i'm sure i couldnt stand a corridor RPG. Each to his own ofc, but it seriously has the most dull design i've seen in a aRPG, just awful.

Erm. You do realize that in those videos (the 60 minutes playthrough) he skips about everything?
The different regions of the game each have a different look and feel and most of them are freaking mazes.
I can somehow see your point though I wouldn't call Demon's Souls a "corridor RPG".
Really, if you look at it and it doesn't interest you at all, then so be it but if there's at least the urge to try it, go ahead do so. Rent it for a weekend or so. In my opinion it's definetly worth it.

Indeed, he pretty much takes every short cut available and some I didnt know even exited. Like the 4-1 where you pretty much can fight a boss after the minute instead of circling the whole level.

Wouldnt call a game corridor RPG, but it is very linear. There are no huge open areas, but you can still can get lost (level 3-1 for example). This game, imo, is all about the atmosphere, especially when you are playing it for the first time. It is unfair to judge a game from a guy doing speedrun and skips most of the levels. If you go by that, then HL2 could be completed in 24 minutes, and it is linear as hell, but yet it is one of the best games out there.

Maybe it is just not your cup of tee, but IMO it is one of the best PS3 games, and one of the best RPG's I played.

Ok, I read some reviews nd checked out the gt videi review. But I can't decide if i want to play this game since for.obvious reasons I cant go online. So is it worth it to play this game offline? Or is online needed to really enjoy this, since there are some awesome online features in this game?

IMO online is worthless. The only benefit is the fact you can see pools of blood, checking them shows how people died in that area - so it gives you a clue what NOT to do. Same can be achieved by a google search for just plain common sense. Downside to online is that Phantoms (other players) can join your world and fuck things up for you.

downside? i'd rather call it quite an awesome feature since players can even assume the role of the yellow monk boss (in which other game do you get to do that?), overall it just adds another layer of depth. plus invading another player's game is an epic source for lulz Laughing

oh and you forgot that players can team up as blue phantoms

@guerilla: it's a brilliant offline game, the online stuff is more of a bonus and by no means integral

Yeah, they can team up... but how often does that really happen? No, your previous reason is the most prevalent one... it's a difficult game enough in the first place, without some hooting dickholes joining your world for the sole purpose of fucking your shit up.
