I installed Ubuntu 10 under a VMware machine, enabled 3D aceleration, installed VMtools, and I just couldn't get beryl to work, or any other graphical applications.

Any ideas how to get it to work under VMWare?

Beryl is no longer supported as far as I know, you should use compiz-fusion now. But either way, I don't think 3d accel works for linux under VMWare, I think VMWare's 3d is only for windows. I heard it works with VirtualBox, but never tried myself.

Last time I checked the 3d support was shit for stuff like that.

Why dont use just install ubuntu / debian or something and duel boot it
