Should I?

I'm sure that I can't expect LOTR epicness from this one but is it worth the time?

Yes, definitely. Not as good as the books (too Hollywood'ised and missing a lot of content) but still very enjoyable.

actually it only really became painful for me, when they started 'growing up'. case and point, all the sickly romance crap in the last film. ugh.

1&2 are too kiddish, 3 is the best (directed by Cuaron), 4 & 5 are rubbish

I loved the 5th movie (I guess it's the 5th, the one in which
 Spoiler:

), that had gloomy atmosphere. The last one sucked ass imo, and the first few were kiddie fun Very Happy

I mean the only thing you have to loose is time... I can't wait the last movie tho, it looks great (dark and gloomy)Very Happy

Yeah, 3 is Azkaban, and it's the best. Already dark but w/o the teenage awkwardness.

The only reason any adult should watch these movies is because the kids want to go. Watched a small part of one of the movies and I couldn't stand it. All those kids staring wide-eyed at each 'magical' sight at that school. Rolling Eyes Yes, it's magic! Get over it! The whole thing reminded me of stories that you read to children.

What's worse is people actually admitting to reading the books!

I hated Narnia & stuff like Golden Compass but I liked the Spiderwick Chronicles (didn't read those kids books though).

imo: no.

i've never watched them, so in some ways I shouldn't be answering.

but i get the feeling that they're for kids, and mega adult-geeks. If you're over the age of 16, then I cannot see the appeal.

but that's just my opinion of course!

I will never watch one, that's for sure! Then again, i'll never watch a twilight film!

I think there is a big difference between the twilight movies and harry potter Laughing

If they were anything a like I wouldn't even have created this topic Laughing

And the main reason why I asked is because I heard so many times that 3 and 5 are great, but I can't just start watching Harry Potter 3 and skip the first two can I?

I guess not, but I guess if you don't somewhat enjoy 1/2 then you're probably not going to enjoy any of it.

Still, teh girl in it is mega hot!

They're decent and they get darker with every iteration. It's still a movie aimed for the young crowd, so it all depends on what you expect. Reading the books prior to watching the movies will make it more enjoyable I think, you'll know what's going on then.

Harry Potter is much better than I first expected it to be and after every chapter it just gets darker and darker. ^_^

So yes, I think you should watch it. Very Happy

+1

It feels like I would have loved the Potter series when I was 11-12 years old. Now not so much, too much british school movie stuff going on.
