Yeah, it was a really sad day for me. I'd collected those games (no shit ones either, not IMO at least) for a long time. No biggie, I've got a lot of them back via DD and the rest I've just got in ISO format.

Magic and Mayhem. Designed by Julian Gollop, the X-COM guy. Really beautiful (in several ways) fantasy RTS.

Epsilon: Game is great btw, I love it, so far it's a definite goty. It's remarkable how much has changed since the beta, stardock have been working their asses off, and it shows.

Yeah, works flawlessly with zdoom. Now, if only people made some wads for it i'd be a happy camper.

Hell yeah, M&M was awesome and the sequel Art of Magic was even better. And X-COM has to be played at least once by every self-respecting gamer (even if it's not really an unknown game).

EDIT:

forgot to add other two hidden gems - War Wind II and Original War, both virtually unknown RTS/RPG hybrids which added a lot of novel features (such as enterable buildings, rpg-like leveling for troops, dialogue choices etc.) and are a blast to play.

Damn... you beat me too it. Great game, although it's difficult to pinpoint actual genre.

Heh... I was gonna mention this one too. FPS with lots of RPG features.

Quote:
Darklands - Best Sandbox game ever. You controlled a party in its adventures throughout medieval germany, between corrupt raubritters and evil witches. You could hunt heretics, be imprisoned, trialed and even executed (though you could escape, but you could even wait for the executioner to come and kill him right there, then running away through the whole town trying to find a suitable wall to climb and escape the city - those were times). You had an almost ridiculous amount of ways to solve every darn problems - talk your way through, sneak, fight, use a potion, call a saint for divine intervention and so on. Masterpiece
[b]

Great game too. Excellent setting, most detailed character creation I ever seen (yes, ever, never seen other game like this).

It also first RPG I've seen that uses real-time pausable combat too (something that Infinity engine games would copy few years later).

Although it could get repetitive on the long run (problem with all sandbox games). After a while, defeating robber knights (?), killing brigands at night and stuff can get tedious.

I would say Star Wars: Republic Commando. Few people remember it, but for me - even by today standards - it is the best FPS game of all time.
