Thing is, in the real world, people just don't behave like this. If some Chinese manufacturer used your name in their product, you'd probably laugh at the stupidity of it.
Unfortunately, you just know what type of people these hackers are. Loners with no social life whose sole existence revolves around the internet. Spitting their dummy with their software allows them to feel some kind of power over others. It really is pathetic.
In the real world I'm a graphic designer, it's the equivalent of someone ripping off one of my designs and me saying "RIGHT, THAT'S IT!!! I QUIT!! NO MORE DESIGNING FOR ME!!"

Sabin, it's the Chinese!!! Do we really epect anything less of them? These are the people who will manufacture your product for you, then when the factory closes at 5pm for the day and stops producing your product, it'll start back up at 6pm churning out knock offs of your product for some Chinese firm.
Look at the name of the device for gods sake, they've basically included everything they can think of. No one in their right mind would think it's a Hermes authorised product.

LOL@Falcon80
He's the guy that has been on PSX-Scene, constantly going on about how he "knows" PSJB team have cracked 3.50 and that, on the 20th of October, they will be releasing their paid FW upgrade for PSJB devices ($25-50 by the way). When you ask him how, he just laughs and says "I know, trust me"
I don't believe a word he says and until something comes out and proves anything, he's BSing as far as I'm concerned.
@danmoz98
You're missing the point. If I was making software, some bastard stole it and badged my name all over their product in order to sell it? Yes, I would stop making. Why should my work fund someone else? If my FREE work ends up becoming profitable for others, then you're goddamned right I'll stop making my work available -- or I would start charging for it myself. It's even worse when people take my name and put it on illegal products, which could end up becoming a backlash for me.

Sabin, have they actually stolen his work? Or have they just used his (amongst others) name? The news at psgroove.com simply says they've named their clone after him (and everyone else).
I think you're missing the bigger point though, at the end of the day we're talking about software that allows us to pirate games. No matter how you try to justify it, let's not kid ourselves, the main purpose is to rip off games. Crying that someone else has ripped off your work is the very definition of irony. Some might even say it's karma.
Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the work these guys do, I just lose respect for them when they start with the childish games. "oooh, I know how to do this but I won't tell you because I don't agree with xyz, instead I'll give myself a sense of self-importance and hold my power over you". "here's my source code, but if you change it i'll destroy your data... because I'm a cunt with no friends, no social life and therefore no conscience". "oh noes, someone has ripped off my software that allows me to rip off someone elses software, well that's it, I'm taking my toys home!!".
It's ridiculous.
Just t demonstrate how ridiculous it all is, and how it doesn't work like this in the real world. It's akin to Sny saying "Our console has been hacked, we're no longer going to make any more games consoles and we're ceasing production of games"

Hermes' payload isn't for "diskless play" - it's for patching/fixing games that don't work on the original files, fixing glitches that happened on earlier payloads and also being able to patch your games =)

Yes. They have. They bundle HIS payload hacks on the device. You're entitled to your opinion, of course, but to whine like a little baby - insulting and flaming the person that GAVE you free games (to use your example) is the very height of hypocrisy. You call it karma? Well then, I believe "karma" should also apply to you and if something should befall your maching... oh well, karma. Right?

agree.. if you are a pirate you also should not cry if someone else is gonna pirate you. he is done a great job that Hermes dude.. but he could just change his username its as simple as that.
these guys are so smart. and then they don't expect that someone else is gonna clone their work and make a provit from it.. thats quite unbelievable.

I'm not whining, I'm saying it how it is; pathetic.
Sony go to great lengths to stop people like us ripping off their software.
Hackers, people like Hermes, Matieluh, etc then go to great lengths to break this software.
To then complain that someone has ripped off their software IS hypocrisy.
It's like the psjailbreak team moaning that people have ripped off their device.

Let's just put this into perspective here. We're talking about China. They rip off EVERYTHING. Including cars, you don't see the likes of Chevrolet throwing their toys out of the pram.

They seem to be coming out faster lately, I'm wondering if there's something in the new payload that's making it all possible. Either way; awesome!

Well, more than one game now. EA Sports MMA, Brunswick Bowling, and some golf game too.
I imagine they'll be "cracked" before long though, maybe weeks if not days.

Will a savegame work for both USA and EUR version?
I can´t make my GOW Collection save to work.

Which folder did you transfer it on the PS3? Did you do it via FTP?

Well, I am giving up with this hacking.
It's not just worth it for me. The hack doesn't work every time I do it, I have to turn off my ipod and turn it back on again every time. Only 1 in 5 times does it even work then. I've been trying to get Heavy Rain to do more than just give me a black screen when it boots, but nothing. I've tried it with a disk in, i've tried it in "patched mode". I've tried launching directly from Ghia, and from the PS3 menu itself.
It's just long winded and not worth it. I'll continue to use my PS3 for legally bought games, and online play - and i'll use my 360 for purely downloaded SP games.
My only concern now is that Sony will ban my console as I have run backup manager in the past. If they do, I'll be well pissed but I'd kinda understand. Will just annoy me as I've decided NOT to do the pirate thing on their console!
Anyway, I guess that'll mean I can play the new COD on my PS3 next month, so that's something!

That's why I'm glad I took a dedicated hardware route, mate. With the iPods and Androids and Dingoos... you're taking a normal device and ham-fistedly hacking it to do something it's not designed for. As far as I'm concerned, that's a bad thing and will only lead to more problems down the line :\ £25 for my Minimus (and that's actually VERY expensive compared to some of the clones out there) and, so far, no issues. Works perfectly, works first time, and supports any payload I want to install - rather than waiting/hoping someone will tweak the Rockbox.ko so that it's compatible.

Backup manager + a BD in worked consistently for me when it came to heavy rain

agreed. i was going to use my droid for this but after doing some reading i came to the conclusion i would end up at the mercy of others for compatibility where as using a dedicated solution wouldn't be free, but wouldn't be that costly either and would have a lot more support.
as for whiney pirates? names don't mean shit on the internet. i don't blame the guy i would stop releasing my work too if others were going to be profiting from it. and just because someone knows how to do something but doesn't release it doesn't always mean they are trying to hold some uber nerd power over you. maybe they just know better. after all look what happened to hermes.
