Hate me all you want for saying this, but piracy was more "fair" back when you actually had to do something for all the free swag, like contributing to a private site or ftp.
Ps. No, I haven't gone all Holy, but game companies do deserve to get paid for their efforts as long as they are making good stuff. |
They hardly deserve 60$ for a recycled FO3 with some mods. |
Totally acree, at least fix the dull animations and NPC ugly faces.

Now you are just trying to justify your reason for pirating it, because i know if it was actually good with new graphics you still pirate a copy.
Using a working game engine as your base you can get a lot of gameplay into the game and no waste time building a new one. Remember the original and FO2 they didn't have the greatest graphics but it was the gameplay and story that made it special.
From what i seen i am extremely happy with the changes and watching all the different steams a lot of different ways to play it.

FO3's graphics were hardly groundbreaking, and neither is New Vegas. Realistically this game is gameplay wise the same, with refinement and tweaking to the FO3 core. And that is most definitely a good thing. Hardcore Mode isn't so bad so far; sure ammo has weight - but its a negligible weight unless you're just pack ratting shit for shits and giggles.

How about you not just assume shit? I pirate every game, and plenty of them I buy after.
I won't buy this cause it's obvious the devs havn't put much effort into it. They're simply trying to milk the now mainstream Fallout name.
But sure, since it seems you're quite the derp I'm sure you'll happily pay every penny it costs you.

So let me get this strait you will pirate it even though you already think it sucks, will not buy it, and is just a mod with still ugly faces and graphics? so why waste your time.
I will likely pirate it and likely not buy it even though i think it will be good, but you know i am at least honest about it, i don't try to justify by saying game not worth $60 but i will pirate because it at least deserves my attention.
edit: milk the fallout name? a lot of the devs working on this game work on the original fallout games, refer to halo for the milking of a name.

I wonder if, despite the changes by Obsidian, the standard GECK works?

Have we forgotten da olden times? Since when did a sequel, or even a spin-off in this case, differ greatly from the original? Some people bitch to bitch. The engine might be limited and the gfx might be improved slightly, but everything else seems to be better.
Seriously, what do people expect from a game using teh same engine and the same setting graphically? Atleast they don't have to use the bland textures in Fallout 3 since New Vegas is situated in a living area. The animamations have always been a problem with Gamebryo, even Bethesda couldn't fix that shit in years. What could Obsidian, a team with proven incompetence in teh technical aspect, do about that?
I also am happy they're taking the piss with so many aspects of teh game. I'm sick and tired of "realism" and seriousness in games. The humor is completely dead. Let Obsidian do its inside jokes and strange humor. I welcome it.

There are mods that greatly improves animations for both Oblivion and Morrowind (not sure about FO3 since i dont play it that much), so i'm not falling for that it's a Gamebryo problem.
They can continue with the shitty animations because its what people are expecting and are used to, but they also have to finish it in time, while modders can work with a single animation or texture pack etc for years without pressure..

I used a lot of mods for Oblivion, animations were still shit. I didn't see the big improvement you mention. even with all teh mods in the world, Gamebryo will never be the best looking or best running engine.

i've used a lot of different animations for morrowind and oblivion and i think they improved the walking/running and, especially, the jumping animation a great deal.
With new shaders their games can look incredible (see MGE, Morrowind looks quite a bit better in many ways than Oblivion these days).

My expectations might be too high, I didn't see much of an improvement. I was never bothered with teh animations in the games though, so maybe that's why I didn't notice the big difference.

Fallout 3 gameplay is way more interesting than its graphics, it's not Crysis, huh.

They could probably only do so much in the little time they've been given.
Personally I look forward to a Fallout with good dialogues and story. Fallout 3 had nice exploration, but everything else sucked ( personal opinion, don't have to agree with me )

This.. hopefully no more vampires. I didn't really hate the combat in FO3 myself though; I enjoyed thoroughly abusing vats.

Me would like to see this game in the Metro 2033 engine, the outside is so atmospheric and dangerous, just makes me droll when I think about combining the two.

There were vampires? I remember the lovercraftian building, ant queen and atomic mirelurksand other "kewl" stuff but vampires are a new one.
Were they in a DLC?
Anyway, only a few days left. I've been waiting 11 years for this moment: a proper Fallout 3 ( I consider New Vegas canon and F3 a spin-off, made by brain-dead chimpanzees )

no vampires in Fallout 3 !!! I do not know, maybe just a mistake. Fallout 3 was very very good, except for the ending story, just a POS. However the replay value was very high.

Spoiler: | The, "Vampires," of which ya'll speak, are holed up in an abandoned subway tunnel and have been terrorizing a town built on an overpass (can't quite remember where though). You receive a quest to find this town from a woman in one of the big towns (can't quite remember which though). When you enter the town, one lonely man approaches you (as they often do in game), and asks if you can help his town. All of the town's residents are hiding indoors as the blood drinkers have been attacking more often lately (and not just the brahmin either). In one house, you find a man and his idiot wife (literally, I'm not being a misogynist here). In another house, you find a family that has been murdered and it appears that it is the family of the woman who asked you to go to this town. It also appears as if the family has been killed by the blood drinkers and that the younger brother is now part of the blood drinkers cult.
Once you find the blood drinkers' lair, you find that this younger brother is a new convert and that he might not want to be here. You are given the choice to either become one of them, kill the leader and escape with the boy, or simply talk the leader into letting the boy go. |
There's your vampires.
