As a pure melee character you'll have to use potions or the light spell. You can also sheath your weapon (which will equip the torch), but you'll be fighting in the dark when you get your weapon out again.

Role on! Very Happy You can do it, sure, but really Oblivion isnt made for "pure" characters, as you can easily master best traits from various types, like: im a master shadowy thief with expert marksman and sneak, but got blade skill of expert, and alchemy of expert, and pretty heavy spells too...so playing just pure you dont get a very good experience, pure chars, are or were required on games like baldurs gate, because you could only reach the higher level attributes/spells or specific habillities if you dont deviate or divagate (read: spend points on other classes) from your class.

But enough : Can or cant i get the deed to open the aeterna merchant shop in Erothim Confused

Anyone know where Acorias is for the quest Candidate at the city guard?

Been stuck on it for about a week....and by stuck, got sidetracked and pretty much found any entrance so far on the map.....trying to get to the southern part, but all paths are locked/blocked. Help on that would be appreciated too...

If I remember correctly and the quest in question is when you have to steal a letter from him and make him forget about it by casting a spell on him, then
 Spoiler:

And if you're trying to get to the souther part of the game, namely Ostian, stop trying. The only way to get to that area is via the main quest.

Sweet, this quest IS a part of the main quest, so 2 birds with one stone!

You are correct about the memory spell and stealing the letter, however I've already accomplished that.

The next part of the quest says to return to Acorias.....speaking of which, I don't even know if this is a person or place.....but I've looked all over my map, at least I'm not that lazy.... Smile

Anyone finished the game yet? How long is the mainquest?
I have played around 30 hours already, am about 20 hours into the mainquest but the story is kinda lame right now (those who are this far know what I am talking about, yknow, because of that gay shallowminded dude).
 Spoiler:

Heard it was around 50 hours, which is kinda sick ass long, hard to believe, could this be true?

I have the feeling the story is nearing its end (again, am about 20hours into the mainquest), so decided to explore the world some more (a lot of fun).

Well played for about 5 hours and i liked it but the performance is killing it for me.
Got about 20/25 FPS outside. and that with a q9450 @ 3.6Ghz and a GTX295
changing setting to mediium or low doesn't improve a lot?

On the normal Oblivion i get about 50/60FPS constant.

My first playthrough lasted about 104 hours, but that+s because I explored every cave, castle, and done all the sidequests that are available. And if you already met Arantheal, that means you have about 10 more hours of the main quest.

The set items I got until now are not _that_ good. The set bonuses are all-in-all not worth searching all pieces. The only really useful (in my opinion) items are these mage items giving bonus mana recovery (a staff, a hood and a cloth I found until now - the complete set has 4 pieces, footwear is still missing). skill bonuses you can buy at every trainer, for that you dont need set items. but things like mana recovery, damage reflection, spell reflection or magic absorption are really useful. but only very few items of the lots I found until now (lev. 31) offer these features.

so keep on searching... Wink

Oh, I just found out an unpleasant surprise: do not waste any time with the enormous sidequest given by "Gervasius" (to find three stone tablets). It takes a huge amount of time searching in high level dungeons and in the end you get .... NOTHING.

Reason: this quest is not finished in the actual release of NEHRIM. I wondered myself why there is no "end" to this quest, googled for it and found out, that the last dungeon (to enter with a "color code"), where you would get your reward, is simply not there. Its not implemented until now. So dont waste your time.... Sad

I'm getting my ass kicked where-ever I stick my head in. Random bandit ruins in the beginning, dead. Random mage ruins, dead. Goblin burrow near the abbey, dead. Will the character soon become formidable enough to allow exploration? I'm lvl4 with full iron armor, longsword and a shield. Used all my LP on blade skill.

The game world seems pretty generic and uninteresting. I like the general feel of scope etc, but compared to Fallout New Vegas, the content of the world seems rather bland. Does it get any better?

The initial "low level" (Some dungeons are pretty tough still though.) forested area is a bit generic looking though full of stuff to discover, the more diverse, grasslands, frost, shore, swamp and desert themed areas to call them that (And that's not all there is.) are better realized though a lot of Oblivion assets are re-used so it'll look familiar trough most of the game though some parts are very creative with how things are put together. Smile

Stick to the side quests at first, then keep going through the bounty quests. Eventuallly you'll get to a dungeon you can barely get through, and then powerlevel yourself... keep in mind without some good ranged damage like spells or arrows you're gonna have a rough time going up against heavily armored dudes. Sneak x3 damage with that initial bow shot has to be followed up with some kite dancing once you get to the harder bounty ppl, and you only get a few seconds of that in before they're on you.

And the monsters get pretty diverse with interesting tactics a little later on. Just have patience, don't go straight for the win. Game is brutal.

Yep Oblivion (updated to the last patch) is required.

As for the voices, they're in German, but everything else is in English (subs, menu etc.), and to be honest the voiceovers are very well done for being a non professional project Smile
