The game is running very fine on my pc (1055t, gtx 460), i guess i'm one of the few peoples who can run this game without any problem.
Finished the first chapter and been playing for 1 hour on the main island, i like it so far, a good little rpg while i wait for New Vegas and TW2... also i haven't noticed any bugs yet which is quite a surprise.

I like how they handled quests you haven't been given yet.
A guy needs, I dunno, 2 quest-specific silk stockings? You pick them up in a transvestite ogre's lair, find the guy, get the quest and say something like "oh look, I happen to have them on me, what a coincidence" . You get to hear why he needs them and end the quest without even closing the dialogue window.
In Risen you'd also pick them up in a transvestite ogre's lair, complete quest, look for the reward giver and wonder why that guy needed 2 pairs of silk stockings in the first place ( as there are 4 or 5 women on the entire island ).
Of course Risen is still tons better, but at least they got THIS right.
Anyway, still waiting for a patch. Stuttering is not a problem, it occurs sporadically, guess i'm lucky, but the shadows, grass and trees are killing me.
It's like they're in a quantum state of being and not being in the same place in the same time.
For example, the trees do not sway under the wind. They have epilepic attacks.
Oh, maybe that's the stuttering bug

Wanting the patch as well, the stuttering is incredibly annoying.
PC Specs: A Maganavox' Odyssey
Tweaked to play Frogger, Lemmings & GTA4

It's not buggy and I've not had one game crash. It's not well optimized but it's playable for those with faster computers. If you buy the game you can play with the latest patch which gives some performance boost.

Agreed 100%.
Well, I don't find the combat easy but as long as I pay attention to the hostiles I can kill them. If I just click click click away I'll get hit a lot and die.

No because the main .exe IS the hotfix. No other files were patched.

Austrian investment site Boerse-Express sat down for a short interview with JoWooD CEO Franz Rossler. Of course the just released Arcania: Gothic 4 was one of the main topics.
Here are a couple of translated excerpts from Mr Rossler's answers:
On the Arcania release:
[...] We had 28.000 [Arcania] activations yesterday - I consider this a success.
JoWooD put 200.000 units on the shelf in Europe.
On the criticism in games forums:
The classic Gothic fan might be disappointed because the game no longer follows the classic Gothic approach. But we did this intentionally. We wanted to reach a broader audience, to make the game more marketable internationally. It's the old problem: I can't please everybody. It is clear, Arcania comes at the expense of Gothic's long time community [the German "Urgemeinde" is untranslatable; Ed.]. But the sales success seems to prove us right.
Arcania's budget is a "high one digit sum in millions". The PS3 conversion will come out next year, and a couple of add-ons too.
So it was no accident - Arcania was meant to be so casual.

Wait, what? Arcania was made for less than $10m? Ok, that's bloody impressive in this day and age, where any random trash can cost $100m to make.

Well judging by Spellbound's interviews, comments on forums and ideas, I can safely say the developer was castrated by the publisher here. I was really excited by this new dev studio, even if their track record was not even close to impressive. They were putting out ideas and shit on teh forums, none of those were even close to "casual Gothic". Oh well, the moneh (publisher) will always win logically.

What random trash cost 100 million to make besides APB? Only games I can think of that are confirmed for 100mill+ budget are RDR, GTA4, WoW and APB. Though I haven't really been looking up the budgets of many games so I guess there could be hundreds of them I don't know about.
But yeah if it cost 10 million it's a bit impressive besides them going the casual route.
