Sadly, I believe that the only option able to enhance the graphics would be a hypotetical patch that enables/fix the shaders and lighting.

OK,
I spent part of my weekend researching my two requests myself (I stopped my laziness)
I was successful to put ANY retro Bulls player onto the current 2011 roster by doing so in the Jordan mode, then exiting the Jordan mode, and choosing the Bulls as the team I wanted to play as in the normal season.
2ndly, I edited my own config file to test different settings, and upon exiting the game, the settings are changed back to their default.
Am I suppose to make the file read only?

Buahaha, bitches I get A+ before the half is over and that's on sim, it's a little harder than 2k10 but still easy, and it's only harder because it makes more sense now, before you could abuse the 'set screen' now you will get negative points for that.
First of you get small points, but they accumulate because you do that a lot, simply from setting screens on each offensive possession, if you set a screen that results in your man scoring than you get more.
You also get small points for boxing out but I rather go for the defensive rebound.
I'm a 3-point specialist SF and I get a lot of rebounds, and they will get you decent points, just by predicting when someone will shoot and I go crash the boards.
You should only shoot when you are open, doesn't even matter if you miss! you will still get points for a good shot. If you hit the basket on a 'bad shoot' I'm not even sure you get anything.
You get a TON from scoring on a fast break.
You get a TON from scoring under foul then hitting the and 1.
You get a TON from contesting shots, playing defense will get you a ton anyway, you don't even have to steal the ball you get points just for touching the ball and breaking their offense.
I'm not sure what you get for assists, my bar was filled up on A+ and I couldn't see what the shift is, that happens when you get an assist very late in the game.
So far I am predicted to be the 21'st pick in the draft by the Oklahoma Thunder.

I'm sorry but this game sucks!
It looks nice and realistic, but gameplay itself...
I've been trying to play 2k10 last year and it was easier but still nothing good came out of it.
Now, I'm as frustrated as I can get. I've been trying to get the hang of it for days and every time after an hour I get a headache as I can't understand what the hell is going on.
With 5 mins per quarter I get 20-35 points and around 15-20 more against my team. I don't know how I supposed to defend when my teammates are not really helping for half of the time. And I have no idea how to score as whenever I get a player free a get the jumpshot display green the ball still rebounds off the rim 3 out of 4 times. Not even mentioning that half of my attacks end in turnovers. When I attempt a pass to the side most of the time it will pe picked off but I can pass into the middle nearly all the times. I've only managed one alley-oop and even that got blocked just like all of my close range shots that aren't jumpshots.
I've tried watching videos, practice mode, keyboard then gamepad but it's so damn frustrating. I didn't have any of these problems when EA was making the NBA series and it was so much fun. BTW the menu is HORRIBLE. Mostly because you can't ever figure it out, even with gamepad. It's much like the game, I just keep asking seriously WTF?!

Play in Arcade mode, Rookie difficulty, shots/free throws based on stick timing not real player %. The rest, well, you gotta practice. Make your player, enter My Player mode, select Drills and practice them with the help of Advanced Controls in My options menu. This game needs practise and even more practise. Also, try playing with better team.

The game has its flaws with the original Sim sliders, which can be hard to notice if you never try other sliders, but trust me, jd's sliders from OperationSports forums have made a game which I already considered great, excellent.
http://www.operationsports.com/forums/nba-2k-sliders/449023-jds-pro-sim-sliders-100-realistic-12-min-qrts.html
Here are the sliders, try them on Pro or All-Star difficulty, and you'll see the differences right away.
Here's what I had to say about them:
Spoiler: | I have to say going from greene_flash's tweaks to jd's full slider set on PC, All-Star Difficulty, 12 min quarters, it has changed the game completely for me.
I would not accept going down to Pro difficulty (too much ego after my full 82-game season completion on NBA 2K9) and the original sliders on Simulation were frustrating. First association game, Pistons vs Nets (me vs CPU), and the Nets were overpowered all around. I could keep them to a few points distance if really concentrated into the game and making only sure-fire points from the paint, mostly dunks, but it was a frustrating experience as Lopez would not miss a shot, and every single one of their players were running me down with dunks.
Tried jd's sliders, started Association over, and from the first game there is a noticable difference. My strong players like Ben Wallace can really put their bodies up there and cause trouble for post moves, blocks have been lowered, dunks are now a spectacular rarity that you can enjoy once in a while with the skilled players (rather than the anyone-can-dunk philosophy of the original sliders), open shots don't miss that often, and I can really take advantage of the most skilled players my team has. I'm really, really enjoying this right now. The plays that got me wins in the past are now working, and my team is defending properly rather than having Ben Wallace be as efficient in D as Stuckey (height- and weight-wise, mostly).
Only think I'm worried about is the amount of 3's I'm getting, but then again, blame the Nets and the fact that they can't defend properly. I'm only shooting the open wide ones and with the proper players, so it's logical that I'm getting them in.
I'm already loving these sliders! They're really, really great. Keep up the good job jd! You've made this game enjoyable for me again, and on the proper difficulty, as I was about to give up on it. |
But really, read up only a few pages and the praise jd got will have you trying them out in no time, and thanking yourself for doing so. NBA 2K11 just got better.

Decided to stop playing it for a while, I just suck too much in normal teamplay, so I'm gonna stick to My player or stop playing at all. I think the controls are really a bit too complicated...

NBA2K is fairly simple.
-Offense
fake out the defense by swirling the analogue stick around like crazy until you are wide open, shoot
-Defense
run around like crazy double teaming whomever has the ball. jump straight up in front of them when they are shooting, and if they aren't kobe/lebron, they'll miss.

And that's with Sim or Custom sliders on high difficulty?
I feel sorry for you man if that's how you feel about the game, seems the rest of us are enjoying it quite a bit.
My experiences with the game so far on Custom (Sim-focused) sliders on All-Star difficulty contradict both your statements. I can't imagine how harder it would be if I switched the difficulty to Superstar.

Again there are no slider settings in my player, someone will have to release the file for tsearch like in 2k10, then you just freeze the settings and sliders will work for my player.

If you play it like an arcade game, then it will be an arcade game. If you play like a Basketball Sim, you'll get a Basketball Sim.

I requested to be traded from the losers known as T-Wolves (13 losses in a row) the starting PG Flynt is so selfish, two teams that are interested in my skills are the Heat and the Nuggets will see what happens.
News conferences are amazing, you get questions like "you were on fire today" "you couldn't hit shit today" "you requested to be traded" and a ton of others, so far I haven't seen any that repeated themselves

Hmm...strange. IMO they repeat themselves damn often. Not to talk about that courtside chick. I hear in every game how magic is built around Howard and what a dominant beast (s)he is. |
Yeah, althou the play-by-play is amazing, it can get repeatetive... I'm playing with the Bulls in My player and i constantly have to listen to how they lost to the Cavs in the playoffs... ang how Boozer was playing basketball in Alaska with his father... How Rose is humble,,,etc. Get's boiring after a while... Althou the news conferences haven't been repeating for me...
But now that i've got the hang of it a bit, my player has become a bit boring. I need to stop spamming (if i can use this word here) the fast brake... Whenever someone on the opposite side goes for a shot, just run to the other basket. You're guy gets the rebound and passes cross-court to you....easy bucket. I've been getting 35 points average in my last 6 games and A+ ratings constantly... Also some of the players just won't pass you the goddamn ball...

Yes! Got traded to the Heat no more losses for me, won the player of the game in my second game for the Heat, got the Jordan endorsement, press conferences are nicer when you're winning, things are starting to pick up.
