Heres my config:
Antec 550W truepower.
Gigabyte ga-8ik1100
P4 2.4C (with zalman 7000AlCu)
2x512mb kingston ddr 400
ATI AIW Radeon 9700 Pro
Creative SB Audigy Platinum Ex (requiers PSU connection)
Promise Ultra 100 TX2
WD Raptor 34gb
Seagate 200GB SATA
2xWD Caviar 80mb (2mb cache)
Maxtor 60gb
Maxtor 740DX 40gb // last 3 drives used in a software raid array
Pionner DVD 115GA
Pionner A06.
3 stock fans on enermax case.
The seagate 200GB is 2 weeks old but is already sent out for an RMA (the drive set itself in a pio-like mode).
I was wondering, could the cause of that problem be a lack of juice from my psu? How could I calculate my power consumption using info from manufacturers?

Look at the specs on the web and stickers on the hardware itself. For example, for disk drives (which have power specs on them i think) power consumption can be quite easily calculated by multiplying the required voltage with the current it sinks, so: P = U * I (Watts). For graphics cards, CPU's etc... you can look at various reviews or the official pages, they usually post TDP (Thermal Design Power) specs. Other things like diskette drives, RAM sticks and such dont suck too much power...around 20W.
Just add the numbers up and you should get a rough estimate of your systems power consumption.

Ya know..for all the systems I've built, I've actually just guessed at how much of psu I would need. Thx Bud, I think I'll check my PO's and see how close I've come in the past..hehe
