jowood first said that in the gothic you'll be able to wear different parts of armour, but after the demo it seems that the armours are just like the previous parts of gothic and like risen. That's why i am asking this.

Ah you mean Morrowind style mix 'n match armor pieces? Yeah that'd be sweet (should be mandatory for all RPG's really, I don't much like full one-piece armors), but I wouldn't hold my breath since it'd be a first for Gothic.

I think we might have just found the very first thing that remains unchanged from gothic to arcania.

Hmm what is the chance that a scavenged armour will actually fit? In terms of realism a lot of RPGs need polishing.

It would most likely be a poor fit, sure, but unless you had a completely abnormal body type, you could still wear the thing.

@JBeckman
Are you playing a clone version, have a crack, or did you actually *gasps* purchase it?

I put most info in the initial posts about it a few pages back, I use the demo files for now but am thinking over buying a key to be compatible with the activation system for Tuesday's update and whatever else might work better that way, this is a new version of SecuROM after all with all sorts of functionality and differences and could take time to crack, will be the cheapest alternative and fairly safe as well but I'm going to wait a few days at least to see what the various "scene" groups can do about it, ideally I'd prefer the protection to be removed.
That said now that I'm getting into the game I see things a bit clearer though I can't wait to get further inland and see the other regions like the snow temple and other stuff I can only barely make out in the distance.
Equipment is fairly balanced and making money is difficult, you can take many different things but it's usually nothing fancy, I did get a knight sword (better form of two-hander, be prepared to see that a lot, seems to be many base versions like say boar -> black boar or field raider -> field marauder and so on.) I've gotten rather lucky though with finding decent equipment in the first larger settlement (Not that big but very cramped and performance isn't all that good, partially related to SSAO I guess.)
Quests are usually straightforward though I've had one choice so far on how to proceed but it seemed like a fairly minor decision.
The gameworld is somewhat open but usually via pathways and cliffs so you don't get that far if you try to bypass any invisible borders (Most can be jumped over but this is dangerous as you risk falling to your death or even get stuck.)
Voice acting is OK and there's some atmosphere with how NPC's mutter and do things but it's a bit repetive, exploring the main Steward city was quite rewarding though as with the demo you also slow down inside "safe" areas like city houses so navigation is a bit cumbersome, would look better if he walked instead of suddenly running but somehow at a slower speed.
Nothing seems to respawn either and I've cleared each area of quests and creatures and items as possible, also returned now that I have a lockpick to clear the last couple of chests, there are some rather long quests involving finding relics though I've progressed nicely on most of them.
AI is a bit so-so enemies usually rush you and they are a bit slow to act and power attacks and flurry attacks take time and are easily dodged whereas creatures rarely dodge so rolling or blocking is quite powerful to get around a enemy and keep attacking them to overpower and defeat them even at lower levels and with sub-par equipment.
Still haven't found any armor at all aside from the latest acquisition of a heavy sallet in a ruin I explored (Other than that it's been shields, bracers and leather and bone helmets in a few varieties plus amulets and rings of course.)
Unsure how the main story will progress, I found it rather weak so far but it might pick up the bik video files didn't give much hope for this though but we'll see.
Spellbound did try though but they made things somewhat simple and it doesn't quite reach all the way or how to describe it, a nice effort and a decent RPG as such if it was a stand-alone title without any ties or connections but as it is the game might not do very well at the more experienced (Or what to call it.) Gothic gamers.
(Difficult to describe but a lot is simplified or removed, no attributes and only a bunch of skills with very few actually doing much than small bonuses, three spells each upgrading two times to a total of nine is problematic as well and the very handholding guiding is a bit limiting as is that you can't really explore around or even attack NPC's even those who aren't important to anything, swimming and climbing is also gone and though you can use many static objects it doesn't lead to anything, there's a ton of items though and crafting is nice but still it's simple as is lockpicking, the minigame is quite a joke in how easy it is actually.)
EDIT: I've made some personal modifications though (Seen in the screens.) such as via the debug menu removing the HUD interface almost completely and I've adjsuted the visuals partly but it's very limited as I only brought some simpler files from the demo over.
(Aside from what is required I'm unsure how much it differs and so far the unpacker won't work on the full game due to a different method being used, part encrypted maybe even.)

Yea, that small number of skills/spells is really pathetic. Like what, 3 spells and hald a dozen skills for a crpg game? Gimme a fucking break, I can think of more during my lunch break...

Combat is pretty basic, either power attack or normal attack (Upgraded to flurry combo attack via skills should you want to.) so it's not very complex, timed blows parry other blows and timed combos build up momentum and keep you swinging but drains stamina, holding the power attack for too long wastes it and heavy blows break trough blocks but it's not as complicated as it sounds and is rather simple as noted from the demo.
Rather linear so far (Second edit with that image shows possible way trough the game areas.) but I don't know if this will change at all.
Performance is worse as the game world is larger and more complex and a patch will be released tomorrow with the final fixes and optimizations done since the game went gold already though I do not know any specifics of it.

Cynamite tested the XBox version. They think Arcania is "a good action-RPG for roleplaying newbies. But the graphics in the XBox version are so horrible that even the good content [...] can hardly compensate [quick & dirty translation; Ed.] for the technological weaknesses." Their fun was worth 7.5/10.
VideoGamesZone posted an abridged version of the same article. Less article, less fun. So this time Arcania (XBox 360) only deserved 73%.
PC Games gives 79% and thinks it's no real Gothic but quite okay for people only looking for a solid RPG. "A lot was promised, not much delivered." The story is weak, the quests boring and the game short.
Buffed on the other thinks Arcania has a compelling story without fantasy cliches, there's some real roleplaying and enough "Gothic" left. Therefore the game receives good 80%.
Austrian mag Gamers.at writes "Arcania is [...] a good but not very good RPG" if you can ignore its Gothic roots. They speculate that a lot of content has been cut in the second half - a whole city is unused - and a quick add-on might be on the way. - 79%

How the fuck the game got 79% with everything that makes a good rpg missing?
