The latest recommended requirements were quad core + 280GTX.
According to Arcania-game, it's an i7 (or Phenom II X4) and a GTX295. That's absolutely preposterous for what we saw in the demo, which - in my own personal opinion - was greatly overshadowed by the likes of Risen.
Anyway, Dual core just doesnt cut it anymore. But yeah that 295GTX on recommended is absolutely horseshit, but readed somewhere on forums that their recommended changed to 280GTX
Nonsense. Look mate, I know you're feeling all smug and awesome with your 1055T .. but you're wrong about DCs "not cutting it any more" Poor programming doesn't "cut it", it's got nothing to do with the lack of cores. Even CRYSHIT doesn't need a quad to look it's best, just a stupidly high-end GPU.
lol when I came back here and saw it had jumped 2 pages in an hour I thought there was a release
Well there is a Russian release floating around out there.. and with the official activation servers going live shortly, I don't doubt a proper one will be due soon enough.

yeah, me too. Unhappily, just another boring guy pretending to have learnt Japanese (and probably nevert went to Tokyo, ha ha) and flaming Fallout 3 in Gothic 4 thread, WTF !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No I haven't bought it was going to but saved money and waited for the demo which lowered expectations somewhat when I played that, using the downloaded Russian clone for now (Well it's only using online activation so not really a clone.), Gamersgate usually allows pre-loading earlier than intended but I don't think that will happen until Monday.
(About half a day to a day before release is usually how it's done.)
I've modified the locale.xml but I've no idea if that will affect anything, it should but of course the videos are localized as well so if there's no subtitles things might be a bit difficult.
(And I guess part of why they feel rather budget and low quality is due to the Russian voice acting which feels a bit over-done though the videos and story itself wasn't anything special from how I understood it, not to post any spoilers but it's pretty generic and there is only one ending now though that's similar to the outcome of the previous Gothic titles but more linear.)
I'll see if I can't find the German version as well to replace the speech and movie files at least, been trying to unpack the data but the demo has one of the main archives encrypted though there are workarounds but more to the point the full game has all archives encrypted.
(If I'm right the text is all there but of course the speech and movies are localized, need to wait for a crack though unless some generic key works though that's very unlikely and doesn't usually happen with SecuROM nowadays.)
EDIT: Intro and other video cutscenes examples.
(Intro, showing Rhobar III and what seems to be "sunny" Nordmar.)
(Random cutscenes, early, mid and late game I guess there's one per chapter for six chapters total.)
ah damn just took a quick look at the site and saw 02:21:40, i tought it meant 2 hours and 20 mins
Don't count the minutes, mate! I perfectly understand your European excitement over this European RPG, but something tells me we're all in for a major disappointment.
That freaking demo was such a bad sign of our crappy 'streamlining', 'two-button-mashing' PC gaming times...
The way I see it, this is no Gothic game, but a rather streamlined twist into a simplified action-rpg with dialog 'choices' that resume into ONE line. Talk about the cRPG we all know and love and the reality nowadays.

I think we already established ten or twelve pages behind that the game will be utter crap.
Walking like a madman on a barbed wire across the chaos of insanity
I, myself cannot wait to get my hands on this game. I'd give the demo 8.5/10.
Only things worth nagging about would be the water limitation (they could have let us at least go in knee deep or something)... Having to run around a small toad pond is actually "realistic" if you think about it, because you wouldn't jump in there in real life, but I'd still like the option to do so...
Despite that little nag, I enjoyed the demo a lot, characters, world, graphics - it felt right. The level design is very cool, Germans seem to have a good eye for level design in general. I didn't mind the voice acting either. How would you know how people sounded in middle ages anyway? I hated that french accented women in Dragon age much more. They have used that french slut in other Bioware games as well, I think in mass effect...
I hope arcania will be something like a mix between Risen and Divinity 2.

Finally! Someone else whom enjoyed the demo as much as I did.
Tell me on your machine the fps whilst smooth etc, when moving the mouse I found the framerate to jump too many pixels across, much like the DPI of the mouse movement is 2 or something.

I have quite old hardware, I use C2D E6750 clocked at 3.2ghz, ATI HD4870 512mb, 4gb with custom timings (can't remember). I have had that setup pretty much since the first HD4870 card was released. It has served me well and I have no desire to upgrade. Right now, I'm investing all my extra cash on photography anyway
There was no mouse lag for me.
Overall it ran great on max settings (according to fraps the fps was near 50) - of course I use a shitty 1280x1024 res, that's why I can also stick with only 512mb mem GPU. I hear that arcania runs much better on ATI hardware. It is weird, because I think it was Nvidia's "The way its meant to be played" game. Maybe it forces physix on if it detects nvidia card and that's what makes it drag slow?
